PB hotel design editorial

Among the streets radiating from Piazza Santa Croce, a sixteenth-century Florentine palazzo carries the kind of architectural biography that most hotels can only gesture toward — carved stone doorways, gilded ironwork gates, and a vaulted entrance cortile where tall-potted palms stand against pietra serena columns as if the building never quite agreed to become anything as transactional as a hotel. That entrance sequence, visible in the images, sets the terms for everything that follows. Palazzo Firenze by Baglioni Hotels & Resorts is housed within this historic fabric with 29 rooms and suites arranged across several floors, the building's original frescoed ceilings and sienna-veined marble door surrounds preserved alongside a terracotta-floored dining room whose stucco relief ceiling belongs firmly to the Mannerist tradition. The interiors adopt a deliberate counterpoint to all that inherited grandeur. Bedrooms pair wide-plank bleached oak floors with dark-lacquered wainscoting, leather headboards in cognac and charcoal, and pairs of red leather armchairs whose saturated color lands somewhere between a Milanese design showroom and a Roman private club. Overhead, Murano glass chandeliers in amber and crystal add warmth without deference. Black-and-white photographic prints — Rat Pack imagery, jazz musicians — establish an unexpectedly cosmopolitan mood, one that keeps the palazzo from settling into the reverential stillness that can make Florentine heritage properties feel more like museums than places to actually live in for a few days.

Palazzo Firenze by Baglioni Hotels & Resorts Reviews

"Our stay at Palazzo Firenze by Baglioni Hotels & Resorts was absolutely exceptional. From the moment we arrived, the level of service truly went above and beyond anything we expected. Every member of the staff—check-in, doormen/porters, restaurant team, room service, and housekeeping—was outstanding. Everyone was incredibly friendly, welcoming, and always had a genuine smile, which made our stay that much more enjoyable. One small adjustment for us was learning that Italian hotels typically don’t provide irons or ironing boards in the room, but that’s more of a cultural difference than a drawback. The interior layout of the hotel is a bit unique and can feel slightly confusing at first, but once we got familiar with it, it added to the charm of the property. If you’re sensitive to noise, I would recommend bringing earplugs. This isn’t something the hotel can control, but there was consistent late-night street noise that could be heard from outside. The location is excellent—within about a 15-minute walk to major attractions like the Florence Cathedral. With the narrow one-way streets in the area, walking is often quicker and more convenient than taking a taxi. Overall, Baglioni did not disappoint. We would absolutely stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone visiting Florence."

"Palazzo Firenze By Baglioni Hotels & Resorts Florence The WORST HOTEL EVER! 1038001122 Not a 5 star hotel! A 3 star at best. Rooms are old and somewhat dirty. Upholstered furniture has stains. The dining room is small/informal with no atmosphere and the bar is a few tables off the lobby. After checking in, we tried to cancel the remaining 4 nights and were told because we cancelled the next night 1 hour late we had to pay the cancellation fee. Then they refused to credit our card for any refund but instead want specific bank information. Once they receive that info they indicated it would take 15-21 days to refund our money. We were told upon leaving that they are closing the hotel in the winter to completely refurbish the hotel with all new furniture, etc! Traveler be WARNED, DO NOT STAY HERE! - EVEN AFTER ANY RENOVATION! This is a TERRIBLE COMPANY that doesn’t care about you but only your money."

"Loved Palazzo Firenze, with its intimate accommodations, quiet footpath to the hotel, great common areas and simple but filling breakfasts. Would recommend as centrally located to everything, but not in the heart of the action... hence, great night sleeps and personalized attention."

"the hotel is very close to the good area, however the street itself that it is on, can be at night a tad uncomfortable for a lone traveler. the hotel front doors get locked at midnight. that being said the service is very friendly. the rooms are very nice. there is a bar in the hotel however no shops or real lobby. it serves the purpose well for a nice place to sleep but not much of a vibe."
