"Villa Cordevigo is set on a beautiful site. The place itself is very relaxing and the pool is stunning. Only 30 minutes outside of Verona you do feel as if you've stepped into another wold. To start with the positives the rooms are beautiful and decorated in a typical Italian style. The beds are comfy and the bath products smelt amazing. Breakfast was great. A good and varied spread of hot and cold options. As well as some nice touches like prossecco so you could make a breakfast mimosa. However, I would say at the price point of the hotel there should be no extra charges at breakfast. Hot eggs are available free of charge but dishes such as eggs Benedict and crepes incur a cost. Dinner was also good but not great. We ate in the hotel's restaurant (not the Michelin star) and had a range of decent pasta dishes served by a friendly waiter. I did think the food was slightly overpriced for the quality, I did also feel this about the drinks/ food by the pool. In my opinion there are better places to eat local to the hotel. You are looking at about 30 euros for a plate of pasta. My main issue with the hotel was the amount of noise a range of children were making in different parts of the hotel throughout our stay. I was quite surprised at how many families stayed given the hotel does not market itself as super child friendly. There were some very well behaved children but there were several children who cried and screamed constantly by the pool (these children were around 4/5 and not babies). Although this is not the hotels fault, it would be nice to see a clearer policy on noise levels by the pool, and maybe quiet hours between 2-4pm could be enforced by the pool to make sure everyone can relax. There were also children left unattended in the gym at times using the equipment to climb and play on. To top it all off a family moved into the room next to us and the children were screaming well past midnight. The wall in the room was not well insulated enough to ensure the noise didn't travel and disturb us. I should have called down to reception to help resolve the situation, but at what could be such a peaceful and relaxing hotel perhaps noise policy should be considered. On the whole the staff were friendly and helpful. However, I did find there was always a bit of a back and forth when issues were raised with the staff. The ladies by the pool were especially lovely. I would recommend the hotel but I think the cost of extras and the noise levels need to be factored in."

"We have been returning to Villa Cordevigo as a couple for many years, usually for several days in August. We travel a great deal and know many excellent five-star hotels around the world, but there are very few places to which we feel as attached as we do to Cordevigo. The property itself is simply exceptional. Driving through the gate and along the beautiful cypress avenue, the historic buildings surrounding the courtyard, the almost enchanted old park, the terraces and pool – all of this creates a very special atmosphere. For us, Cordevigo has always been the perfect place to escape the heat and bustle of Verona in August and to find peace and tranquillity. But in a hotel we return to, the people are at least as important to us as the surroundings. Genuine hospitality, personal attention and the feeling that somebody really cares about the guests are what ultimately make the difference between a beautiful property and a truly great hotel. Unfortunately, this is where we feel Cordevigo has changed considerably. With the departure of Guest Relations Manager Paolo, the hotel has, in our view, lost something of its soul. Paolo had the rare ability to make guests feel genuinely welcome and looked after without ever being intrusive. He represented exactly the kind of personal hospitality that made us return year after year. There are fortunately still exceptions which remind us of the Cordevigo we have known and loved. We would particularly like to mention Marina and Barbara at the pool and Ettore Diana at the bar. Their warmth, attentiveness and natural hospitality deserve explicit recognition. Unfortunately, the general level of service during our present stay – including reception and the breakfast and dinner service on the terrace – has been noticeably below what we remember from previous years and, in our opinion, below what one should expect from a five-star hotel of this calibre. We are not writing this because of one mistake or a few minor inconveniences. We have stayed in enough excellent hotels to know that mistakes happen everywhere. What matters is the overall attitude towards the guest – and it is precisely there that we feel something important has been lost. We sincerely hope that the management recognises this and either succeeds in bringing Paolo back or appoints an experienced Guest Relations Manager capable of restoring the personal hospitality that once distinguished this hotel. Villa Cordevigo is far too beautiful and special a place not to be matched by equally exceptional service. We very much hope that it will be again, because we would genuinely like to continue returning for many years to come."
