PB hotel design editorial

Via Manzoni 46 sits at one of the most charged addresses in Milanese fashion geography, where the street meets Via della Spiga at the heart of the Quadrilatero della Moda. The building is a 19th-century palazzo of considerable presence: its cream and terracotta facade carries bracketed cornices, arched window surrounds, and wrought-iron balustrades that catch the late afternoon light in the images here. Rocco Forte House Milan, which opened in 2024 as a collection of just eleven apartments across multiple floors, asked its designers to hold this architecture in genuine conversation with how people actually want to live when they come to Milan for fashion week or the Salone. Olga Polizzi, Rocco Forte Hotels' Director of Design, worked with Paolo Moschino and Philip Vergeylen of Paolo Moschino Ltd. to produce interiors that feel more like the flat of a well-travelled Milanese collector than any conventional hotel room. The rooms show a confident command of pattern layered against pattern: powder-blue and white vertical stripes in one bedroom, warm gold horizontals edged in dark lacquer in another, the palette shifting between suites without losing coherence. A lacquered crimson shelving wall in one living room sits alongside mid-century-inflected pink armchairs and parquet floors laid in chevron, the whole framed by full-height glazing that opens over the rooftops. Below, a cobbled internal courtyard furnished with wrought-iron bistro chairs and scallop-fringed umbrellas in navy and white gives the property its quietly Milanese centre of gravity.

Rocco Forte House Via Manzoni Milan Reviews

1 review

"Rocco Forte House in central Milan is luxury personified. Through an unassuming door on the busy Via Manzoni, you enter a serene courtyard, a well appointed reception and you are greeted by incredibly helpful and friendly staff. There are a number of apartments available, catering to whatever size of party you are. We stayed in the very well appointed one bedroom apartment for 3 nighrs. The apartment has a fully functional kitchen and well appointed balcony. The facility also has 24 hour gym access. Breakfast can be delivered in a basket daily, or like us, you can make the short walk to The Carlton, their sister hotel for breakfast. The staff were exceptional, pre-visit, and also during our stay. They truly went the extra mile and aimed to exceed our expectations at every turn. Whilst not cheap, the location is excellent, a 10 minute walk from La Scala and 15 minutes to the Duomo. It is luxurious, relaxing and a great place to base yourself fir a visit to Milan. Enjoy!"
