PB hotel design editorial

From its rooftop terrace, the ancient city unfolds in a panorama that few hotels in Rome can match — the illuminated colonnade of the Temple of Hercules Victor, the Circus Maximus stretching into the darkness, and the Aventine Hill rising beyond. That view is the organizing argument of 47 Boutique Hotel, set within a rationalist building on Via Luigi Petroselli at the edge of the Velabro, where the oldest layers of Rome press against the modern city with particular force. The exterior, clad in warm rusticated stone and punctuated by the crowded umbrella-shaded terrace that crowns its roofline, carries the solid civic confidence of mid-century Italian institutional architecture. Inside, the interiors navigate between two registers. Guestrooms in the earlier configuration deploy dark lacquered headboard panels, herringbone parquet, and glass-topped occasional tables in a quietly contemporary Italian idiom — controlled, a little severe, competent. More recently refreshed rooms push warmer, more characterful choices: a navy blue leather headboard rising against a textured stone-effect wall panel, burnt-orange velvet cushions, open blackened-steel shelving, and the same honey-toned parquet throughout. The restaurant downstairs trades in a richer palette — emerald green walls, channeled amber velvet banquettes flanking deep burgundy counterparts, dark polished marble floors inlaid with brass grid lines — an interior that carries genuine atmosphere without overreaching. The rooftop remains the property's true identity: candlelit tables above two millennia of history, the city still entirely itself below.

"Lovely hotel near the centre of the city with modern, well equipped rooms that were very comfortable and clean. Very helpful staff. Lovely sky bar at sky high prices but a great place to spend time with friends. Spent a few nights here and thoroughly enjoyed the experience."

"I have travelled extensively and thought that for this time for my stay in Rome I would stay with a boutique hotel based on all the write-ups! It is true that I was coming for a 7 night stay .. so instead of my usual stay at a renowned hotel chain I opted for Hotel 47! So Rome being my last leg of a trip we arrived in Rome on a Tuesday and went straight to the hotel … as we arrived at the hotel no one is there to help bring bags up a few steps … and the initial welcome is business tone not much more … I am told of the hotel rules and that for water we get for two a one recycle bottle of water.. seriously first red light.. was shown to the elevators and went on to discover our home for the next 7 nights! As we open the door it is somewhat underwhelming , cold and I see ant traps!! Being highly disappointed we opt to go and have dinner and just try to enjoy Rome! After dinner, as we come back to the room I stop at the front desk to ask if possible for a room upgrade (which I offer to pay!) and ask about the ant traps to which I am told there is no problem with ants it is only a preventive measure .. and that no rooms are available for an upgrade but this will be but on the hotel employee chat and if something comes up I will be made aware.. for the rest of the stay I never received any word of this even after a few follow-ups! The room is heating is somehow not functioning and quite honestly it is uncomfortably cold .. I tell the front desk who instead of being helpful is basically telling me I do not know how to make is work! Seriously this is an electronic panel on which you set the desired temperature which I buy to 28 and it was still cold and not heat ! This went on for another day and again on the second morning before leaving I tell the front desk it is freezing in the room to which again we try to trouble shoot to indicate that I certainly do not know how to make this work !! They get the handy man to verify and we leave .. when we get back at the room in the evening it was very hot and the electronic panel had been set to 38 Celsius … seriously I had had enough but was not going to let this ruin my stay … however this is also the same time that we started seeing ants everywhere.. in the shower .. around the room .. basically infested .. told the front desk and they said the cleaning crew were advised … again this needs to be fumigated not cleaned.. told the front desk that this was not acceptable but again I was told they do not understand how this could happen !! Regardless the room is infested with ants … we at this point just want to check out and I found a room at my usual hotel but I am told at the front desk that they will probably not reimburse me as I prepaid so again with 4 nights left we decide not let this ruin our favourite city and try to make the best of it!!! So seriously the hotel is no up to standard! The staff is okay .. the quality of bedding and towels average at best .. the hotel is well located and decor okay! Although the breakfast was included with the hotel fee we never tried it as we never got a good feeling in the hotel or by the staff and typically we are really liked by people and have never complained with other hotels .. so far from the write-ups we read .. so honestly I would not recommend this hotel .. not good at problem solving.. not welcoming nor did they try to rectify much.. so we stayed with the ants.. in the room that I we never received the requested upgrade the we were willing to pay for and we were sad to leave beautiful Rome but happy to leave Hotel 47 … in all fairness we did receive a 100 euro rebate for our stay and a bottle of wine which we left behind for our troubles! Again because of the ants and the ease at which they infiltrate everything at our return we unpacked outside our home and threw the suitcases away !! So I would recommend Rome to all with hesitation and would NOT encourage people to stay at Hotel 47 .."

"My son and I had a wonderful stay at 47 Boutique Hotel, and I can honestly say it exceeded all our expectations. From the very first moment, the staff was exceptionally kind and professional. The check-in process was quick and smooth. Even before our arrival, they contacted us to ask whether we preferred a double bed or twin beds — since I was traveling with my son, that thoughtful question made a big difference. The room was spacious, beautifully equipped, and had everything we could possibly need: an iron, a hairdryer with all the attachments, a Bluetooth speaker, a towel warmer in the bathroom, a large safe that easily fit a laptop, a big wardrobe, an espresso machine, and a kettle. Every detail was carefully considered. Breakfast was excellent. In addition to the great variety of food, there was a waiter who personally offered fresh coffee from the bar — cappuccino, espresso, or even hot chocolate. We asked for olive oil and soy milk, and they gladly went to bring them specially for us. The service truly felt personal and attentive. The location is fantastic — within walking distance of everything. The Colosseum is only about 15 minutes away on foot, and exploring Rome from this hotel was incredibly convenient. As part of my Expedia status, we received a complimentary bottle of wine, late check-out, and a 10% discount at the restaurant. We didn’t even have to ask — everything was already waiting for us in the room upon arrival, including a handwritten welcome note. That personal touch meant a lot. After check-out, the hotel stored our luggage while we continued touring Rome. When we returned to collect our bags, they even offered us a comfortable seating area and access to the facilities until it was time to leave. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, almost like a family-run hotel, yet the team is highly professional. I will absolutely recommend 47 Boutique Hotel to everyone, and I will definitely return on my next trip to Rome."
