Best for: Architecture enthusiasts and collectors in Rome

Highlights:

PB hotel design editorial

A terracotta-pink palazzo on Via del Corso, Rome's arrow-straight spine running from Piazza Venezia to Piazza del Popolo, carries the full grammar of nineteenth-century Roman civic architecture — stucco cornices, louvered grey shutters, wrought-iron balconets, and a ground-floor entrance framed by stone balustrade — while inside it has been refashioned into Elizabeth Unique Hotel, a boutique property whose interiors deliberately work against the building's period gravity. The rooms divide into two distinct moods: one palette runs ivory and warm linen, with panoramic grisaille landscape murals behind upholstered headboards, oak parquet underfoot, working fireplaces set into white plaster surrounds, and scalloped brass pendant lights that suggest a contemporary hand drawing loosely from 1930s Italian rationalism; the other commits to deep prussian blue walls against which gold-framed triptych mirrors and pendant reading lights on slender brass rods create something closer to a private Roman apartment than a hotel room. The restaurant brings both registers together — moss-green velvet banquette seating and patterned chairs pulled up to marble-topped tables, lit by the same scalloped brass chandeliers that appear throughout the property, with an aged mirror panel spanning an entire wall and arched bar niches finished in deep burgundy lacquer. Outside, a sheltered courtyard terrace planted with jasmine and columnar cactus offers a quieter counterpoint to the constant choreography of the Corso just beyond the entrance.

Elizabeth Unique Hotel Reviews

"We enjoyed a 4 night stay at the Elizabeth Unique Hotel. The staff are friendly and welcoming which creates a warm and personal atmosphere. This was particularly evident when we checked in and also at breakfast. We loved that breakfast is served until 6pm daily; this allowed us to get up and out early before the crowds and return to the hotel to take breakfast as ‘brunch’ at lunchtime. We did experience some noise because our room was very close to reception and next to the elevator and public washroom meaning some disturbance as guests checked in and out early in the morning, or late at night. This was not a big issue for us and we would definitely return."

"This is an amazing hotel. Centrally located within easy walking distance of several of Rome's main attractions, shopping, and restaurants; yet, on a very quiet street. The hotel itself is filled with unique art pieces throughout. The staff is wonderful and very accommodating. Unexpected perks included a complimentary bottle of wine in the room, free mini bar water and juices, and an evening food tidbit from the kitchen. Truly a 5 star hotel."

"My sister and I had a great experience at the Elizabeth Hotel. The hotel is centrally located close to attractions, but also quiet at night off a littel side street. Food and resturants nearby were great. Everyone was lovely from the front desk to the resturant. Breakfast outside in the mornings with a well though menu and champagne in the library. The rooms were clean and a good size for a Europe hotel room. Would stay here again and highly recommend."

"This hotel is a feast for the eyes! Everywhere you look there are beautiful pieces of art adorning the walls and embedded into the ceilings. The room we stayed in was spacious and had every amenity you could think of! The staff goes out of their way to be helpful. Miriam spent time outlying a map and recommending different areas to visit. The breakfast is a real treat. The weather allowed us to sit outside where we were able to choose from a vast majority of selections. The location of this hotel puts you close to everything. My only recommendation would be to ask for a room in the back of the hotel as the front street is very active well into the night and was noisy at times. I highly recommend this hotel!"

"If you are planning to explore the Eternal City starting from a central position and you are looking for something elegant, artistic and a bit groundbreaking, you can’t miss this gorgeous Boutique Hotel. The personnel is welcoming and helpful, able to create a warm and unforgettable atmosphere. The restaurant is worth to be tried as well, for breakfast, lunch or dinner: tasty meals you’ll never forget. We’ve been here three times and we’ve never felt disappointed. Congratulations to the staff for their engagement: they really go out of their way to make you feel at home!"
