PB hotel design editorial

Few addresses in Rome carry the layered identity of Via del Corso 84, where the building that houses Singer Palace Hotel began its life as the Italian headquarters of the Singer Sewing Machine Company — an early twentieth-century palazzo whose travertine facade, relief-carved friezes, and balustraded upper terrace mark it as a confident piece of early Roman modernism, close enough to Piazza Venezia that the Vittoriano's white marble bulk hovers at the edge of every rooftop view. The interiors navigate a familiar tension between historical envelope and contemporary comfort, and do so with reasonable conviction. Guest rooms are finished in a warm grey palette anchored by herringbone stone flooring, diamond-tufted headboards in ivory fabric, and burnt-orange velvet chairs with nailhead detailing — a color story that recurs with enough consistency to feel considered rather than accidental. Panelled wall treatments in the same greyed tone keep the rooms calm without reading as anonymous. The rooftop, however, is where the hotel makes its most distinctive statement: a wraparound terrace with balustraded parapet and sweeping views across the centro storico hosts both an open-air dining room — set with leaf-printed cushions and citrus plantings — and a glass-enclosed bar whose walls and ceiling are covered in hand-painted climbing ivy, a room that manages to be genuinely playful against one of the most serious skylines in Europe.

"Our stay at Singer Palace was by far the BEST hotel stay we have had....beginning with the incredible warm hospitality every single day by everyone, the manager, Niloufar Zadegan, the front desk, Anastasiya, Roberta, Lia- the Rooftop restaurant, Andrea and Hachim, and Antonio- all provided such wonderful service. The location is perfect for sightseeing, Trevi Fountain and the Pantheon in particular. The Guest Room was immaculate, beautiful decoration, comfortable bed and pillows, fresh flowers, great towels, everything is top notch. Enjoyed the level of housekeeping every day and amazing delicious breakfast on the rooftop- the upper rooftop is open air and dreamy at nights for an end of the day cocktail- a total 10! We hope to return on our next visit to Rome."

"Words don’t do The Singer Palace justice. It was a truly magical experience from the second we checked in. Our room was immaculate, right over main street, with amazing accommodations to make our stay so unbelievably comfortable. I wish I could thank every staff member personally again as every single person there made us feel like family. From breakfast (10/10) to drinks on the roof watching the sunset at Jims Rooftop (10/10 as well), to helping us book tours, trains and dinners, to checking in on us daily to make sure we had everything we needed, the hospitality and experience is truly unmatched. I cannot wait to return in the future. You HAVE to go see Fredrica and the rest of the bar staff on the roof to have one of the greatest cocktails on earth. Not only was she rated as the best bartender in Rome (and totally lived up to it) but is one of the kindest people we have ever had the pleasure meeting. The entire team on the roof was absolutely delightful. Thank you so much, Fredrica, the Shipps hope to see you again very soon. If you ever come to the U.S. you have a place to stay!! We will look forward to that next cocktail (Paloma to be specific, it was exceptional!!) I would also like to give a VERY special shoutout and MASSIVE thank you to Liliana. She absolutely exemplifies what it means to be kind, passionate, and caring towards all those lucky enough to stay at The Singer. She quite literally made our trip with how helpful and kind she was throughout the entire weekend. I don’t know what we would’ve done without her!! She is truly one of a kind, and a true professional. A master class in hospitality. She made us feel like family and I hope to see her again very soon. I feel forever indebted to her for the way she cared for us the whole time we were there. A truly amazing person and we feel so lucky to have spent time at The Singer with her. We felt like long-time friends by the end of the trip. Thank you so much, Liliana. Thank you to Niloufar who was so unbelievably kind. She was an absolute joy to meet upon arrival, and is truly next level in her profession. The experience she has crafted at The Singer is absolutely WORLD CLASS. It’s one of the most stylish places on earth, without a doubt. Others in the hospitality industry must take notes… She is a master in the space. Thank you so much for helping make our first weekend in Rome an unforgettable one!! Thank you to the rest of the staff, I’m leaving many important names off but unfortunately, didn’t have their business cards to personally recognize their fantastic hospitality. The night-time front desk staff was so amazing, not only did they help me sharpen up my Italian, but helped book us the BEST dinner we had all week, at Il Forno. They also helped us book transport the next morning to the station, and arranged for us to have breakfast before we left. And although we ate and drank too much the night before and didn’t have an appetite, it was so greatly appreciated. Thank you to everyone at the singer, we love you guys. And to anyone thinking about staying here, go no further!! You’ve found the place. All the best, McCall Shipp"

"Wow, great service and location! Rooms were clean and beautiful. We were spoiled and a hard-to-get restaurant reservation was made for us by the wonderful concierge Niloufar. Singer Palace also left gorgeous gifts for us and the kids in the room. The breakfast was wonderful. Highly highly recommend!"

"We stayed at Singer Palace Roma for four nights while visiting Rome. If you ever wonder why people prefer to stay at small boutique hotels over a big corporate hotel chain, our experience says it all. Singer was communicative weeks before arrival, initiating a personalized video call to ensure that we wouldn't find ourselves booked out of popular restaurants or tourist attractions. Niloufar, our experience manager, was endlessly helpful and made us feel welcomed, prepared, and comfortable. (I have to also mention — her style is spectacularly, effortlessly Italian). There is no car access directly at the doorstep of the hotel, but the 10-15 step distance from the drop-off zone to the hotel door is no different from crossing a motor court to the lobby at any other hotel. I updated them on our ETA when we were nearby, so they met us at the car and collected our bags, which were in our room by then time we had checked in; there was no inconvenience. The room was clean and well-appointed. The cleaning staff was thorough. We often came back to find the room spotless and even tidied — shoes and items neatly organized after we'd left in a hurry. Breakfast was very good, made with high-quality ingredients. The fifth floor rooftop was charming and a pleasant way to start every day before heading out to the Rome crowds. We also enjoyed cocktails on the sixth floor rooftop on a couple of the nights when we didn't have to wake up early the next day for a tour. The cocktails were excellent, especially my martinis with a lemon peel from southern Italy. The accompanying snacks were also delicious. We enjoyed the conversation and service by Hatim both nights - so friendly! The hotel itself is gorgeous and full of history. You will see antique Singer sewing machines on display when you arrive. Take a few moments to admire the spectacular marble staircase too! A memorable hotel and staff that I would recommend to anyone."
