PB hotel design editorial

Few addresses in Rome carry the layered identity of Via del Corso 84, where the building that houses Singer Palace Hotel began its life as the Italian headquarters of the Singer Sewing Machine Company — an early twentieth-century palazzo whose travertine facade, relief-carved friezes, and balustraded upper terrace mark it as a confident piece of early Roman modernism, close enough to Piazza Venezia that the Vittoriano's white marble bulk hovers at the edge of every rooftop view. The interiors navigate a familiar tension between historical envelope and contemporary comfort, and do so with reasonable conviction. Guest rooms are finished in a warm grey palette anchored by herringbone stone flooring, diamond-tufted headboards in ivory fabric, and burnt-orange velvet chairs with nailhead detailing — a color story that recurs with enough consistency to feel considered rather than accidental. Panelled wall treatments in the same greyed tone keep the rooms calm without reading as anonymous. The rooftop, however, is where the hotel makes its most distinctive statement: a wraparound terrace with balustraded parapet and sweeping views across the centro storico hosts both an open-air dining room — set with leaf-printed cushions and citrus plantings — and a glass-enclosed bar whose walls and ceiling are covered in hand-painted climbing ivy, a room that manages to be genuinely playful against one of the most serious skylines in Europe.

"My wife and I loved the quantness of this hotel. The staff was very attentive and the rooftop is amazing. The rooms were small, but well-apointed and had all the modern touches necessary for a most enjoyable stay. The location was perfect for us with a lot to simply walk to, including some of the best food and historical sites everyone needs to see."

"⸻ I’m honestly running out of words to describe how wonderful our experience was at Singer Palace Hotel. From the moment we arrived, everything felt seamless and thoughtfully arranged. I was initially nervous about transportation, but the hotel kindly organized our airport transfer, which made arrival completely stress-free. We arrived early after an overnight flight from the U.S., and it was such a lovely surprise to find our room ready upon arrival. Even more appreciated was the complimentary assortment of snacks and beverages—my 15-year-old son was especially thrilled with that thoughtful touch. We stayed in a suite with two bathrooms, which was perfect for our family. The beds were incredibly comfortable and exactly what we needed after a long journey. While the amenities were excellent, the true highlight of our stay was the staff. Every interaction was marked by genuine kindness, warmth, and attentiveness. They made us feel truly cared for, and we are so grateful for their hospitality. Breakfast each morning was fantastic, with made-to-order omelets, pancakes, pastries, and a variety of beverages. On our final day, we had to leave very early—before breakfast service began—and the staff surprised us with a packed breakfast to take with us. It was such a thoughtful gesture, especially since the train station food options were still closed at that hour. An exceptional experience from start to finish—we would absolutely stay here again"

"The Singer Palace is ideally situated for exploring Rome on foot, with most visitor attractions within a 45 minute walk and some just 5 minutes away. The highlight must be the staff - they are hugely attentive and helpful. We also loved the late breakfast and check-out times (11 & 12 respectively). As others have mentioned the only area of possible criticism is the cost of the food (and the narrow choice) in the restaurant - however this is somewhat picky as Rome is not a cheap city to visit and there are hundreds of alternative eateries within walking distance. Recommended."
