PB hotel design editorial

Tucked into the cobbled streets of Monti — Rome's oldest rione, where artisan workshops and osterie occupy buildings that have changed hands across centuries — The Fifteen Keys Hotel inhabits a nineteenth-century palazzo whose granite-clad ground floor and arched, steel-framed windows give it the composed authority of a private institution rather than a hotel. Those fanlight windows, visible from the street at night with warm lamp light spilling through the gridded glazing, are among the property's most characterful gestures: industrial in their detailing, yet entirely in keeping with the neighbourhood's layered, unhurried fabric. Inside, the interiors move between two distinct registers. A salon finished in deep slate-blue panelling, with a tufted banquette running the perimeter, herringbone oak parquet underfoot, and copper cage pendants catching the light above houndstooth barrel chairs, carries the atmosphere of a well-appointed Edwardian club. Guest rooms take a different approach — each painted in a single saturated colour, from cerulean to warm ochre, with upholstered linen headboards, wool throws, and striped accent cushions introducing a residential informality that keeps the colour from feeling theatrical. A candlelit internal courtyard, furnished with dark iron garden chairs and bordered by the same arched steel windows seen from the street, pulls the exterior language inward and gives the property its defining spatial quality: small in scale, carefully assembled, and unmistakably Roman in its preference for atmosphere over spectacle.

"The staff were very warm and welcoming and went out of their way to make our visit special. The hotel facilities and our room were in excellent condition with comfortable furnishings and lovely linens. The complimentary breakfast was exceptional with a fantastic assortment of hot and cold foods, freshly backed goods, fruits and other choices. There was even complimentary prosecco! There was a happy hour each night as well with complimentary wine and birra. The hotel is located in the Monti Rione, with many restaurants and shops. It reminded us of NY’s SoHo. This hotel has only 15 rooms, hence the name, and is definitely a must return destination our next time in Roma."

"The hotel was amazing. From when I booked the hotel back in December, we were communicating back and fourth regarding tours and stuff. Through their tour partner, I was able to plan the entire trip and customize it. I also booked rides from airport to hotel and back with them as well. As we arrived in the morning(as most flights from USA will), they not only stored are bags but briought them up for us. Breakfast was amazing and felt healthy. The fruit drink of the day was awesome too. The complimentary tea and biscuits, and cakes at 5 pm was a nice appetizer before dinner too. Great location, close to a lot of fantastic restaurants, less than two miles(3.2 kilometers) from places like Pantheon, Colosseum, Piazza Navona, Trevi Fountain."

"Ionella starts our day with a big smile and awesome breakfast. All the desk people are great, an ice bag for my sore leg. Close to train & colloseum."

"What an amazing hotel! This was the second time we visited Rome and we are delighted with the hotel that we picked! Everything about it and the staff were amazing - from holding our Rome Marathon packages in advance of arrival, to arranging our transfers, to the room and the breakfast! Such a wonderful array of produce at breakfast with so much of it freshly made - my wife said the granola was the best she ever had. Plenty of gluten free options too which was great. Room - blue deluxe - was superb and we had a fantastic 4 nights sleep. Location is also superb, no more than 10 mins walk to Colosseum etc and shops in the street for all necessities - including a gluten free bakery 50 yards away! Overall, a fantastic stay and our thanks to all the staff for making it so great - look forward to returning one day!"
