PB hotel design editorial

Tucked into the cobbled streets of Monti — Rome's oldest rione, where artisan workshops and osterie occupy buildings that have changed hands across centuries — The Fifteen Keys Hotel inhabits a nineteenth-century palazzo whose granite-clad ground floor and arched, steel-framed windows give it the composed authority of a private institution rather than a hotel. Those fanlight windows, visible from the street at night with warm lamp light spilling through the gridded glazing, are among the property's most characterful gestures: industrial in their detailing, yet entirely in keeping with the neighbourhood's layered, unhurried fabric. Inside, the interiors move between two distinct registers. A salon finished in deep slate-blue panelling, with a tufted banquette running the perimeter, herringbone oak parquet underfoot, and copper cage pendants catching the light above houndstooth barrel chairs, carries the atmosphere of a well-appointed Edwardian club. Guest rooms take a different approach — each painted in a single saturated colour, from cerulean to warm ochre, with upholstered linen headboards, wool throws, and striped accent cushions introducing a residential informality that keeps the colour from feeling theatrical. A candlelit internal courtyard, furnished with dark iron garden chairs and bordered by the same arched steel windows seen from the street, pulls the exterior language inward and gives the property its defining spatial quality: small in scale, carefully assembled, and unmistakably Roman in its preference for atmosphere over spectacle.

"Excellent stay at Fifteen Keys. I could not fault it. I don’t normally write reviews but was so impressed with the staff, the level of care and the high standard of breakfast I feel compelled to leave a review. We loved it and it was perfect for our three night city break."

"Staying at The Fifteen Keys Hotel was one of the best decisions of our Rome trip. Tucked in the charming Monti neighbourhood, the location is simply perfect! The Colosseum is a 10-minute walk away, Termini station is nearby, and the area is full of character with great restaurants and local life all around. The room was beautifully designed, spotlessly clean, and the attention to detail was evident everywhere, from the quality of the bedding to the perfect shower pressure. But what truly sets this hotel apart is the staff. Every single person we encountered was warm, professional, and genuinely happy to help, from restaurant recommendations to planning our days around the city. The breakfast deserves a special mention: fresh, homemade, and honestly one of the best ways to start a morning in Rome. The afternoon tea with homemade cakes was a delightful surprise after a long day of sightseeing. This is not just a hotel, it feels like a home away from home. We will absolutely be back. Highly, highly recommended."

"We spent four nights at this lovely hotel and every single thing was perfect. I was in touch with Antonio at the front desk before arriving, and he made sure our arrival was smooth and he answered all my questions. The hotel is so close to the train station so we walked there with our bags and the check-in process was warm and effective; our bags were brought to our room. The room was spacious and clean, well appointed with everything we could possibly need and the bathroom was luxurious with giant fluffy towels and robes. The lovey Georgia at the front desk gave us several restaurant recommendations and we were ecstatic with the two that we tried (Brocoletti and La Taverna dei Fiori Imperiali). We headed out for a walk and realized we were not only in a lovely neighborhood, but we were so close to the Colosseum and the Roman Forum. The next morning we discovered that the absolute best thing about the Fifteen Keys hotel was the breakfast. Mamma Mia it was divine and everything was homemade by Ionela who was incredibly friendly and she even shared a recipe with me!! There were so many delicious choices: 6 different homemade cakes, hams and cheeses, roasted veggies, breads, avocados and tomatoes, eggs, bacon and sausage, coffees, Prosecco, homemade juice of the day, a warm wellness shot, fresh fruits."

"The experience of this hotel must not be missed. Besides being located in a prime spot in the Monti neighborhood, the accommodations, staff, and breakfasts are outstanding. All the major attractions are within walking distance. I recommend spending time also exploring the neighborhoods of Rome, they are just beautiful. There are a number of good restaurants also within walking distance. What makes the Fifteen Keys hotel is the staff. As a solo traveler, I usually stay in Bed and Breakfast inns due to safety and the interaction with the B&B hosts. This hotel fits the bill in both categories. I felt completely safe to walk everywhere, even to and from dinners. The staff, particularly the chef/baker and food service staff made me feel at home. I have numerous food allergies, and they were extremely accommodating, which I appreciated. I wouldn’t look any further and book this hotel!"
