PB hotel design editorial

Fifty meters from one of the most studied buildings in architectural history, where the Piazza della Rotonda narrows into Via della Palombella, a nineteenth-century Roman palazzo curves gently with the street in that characteristically unhurried way the centro storico permits itself. The Pantheon Iconic Rome Hotel Autograph Collection was fitted into this building with an interior programme that pursues contemporary Roman elegance rather than period restoration — a considered choice given that any attempt at historicism would inevitably compete with the monument visible from the upper floors. The interiors deploy a palette of charcoal, warm greige, and brushed brass throughout, visible across the guestrooms where floor-to-ceiling upholstered headboards in channelled grey fabric are paired with nero marquina marble side tables and jacquard curtain panels in a silvered floral weave. One room category frames the Pantheon's drum and oculus dome directly through double casement windows — a view that no amount of interior design can upstage, nor wisely tries to. The cocktail bar is handled with more theatrical confidence: a rain of slender glass rod pendants suspended from a lacquered black ceiling above a Calacatta marble counter, white barrel chairs, and gold-framed banquette booths finished in vertical brass slat panelling. On the rooftop terrace, rope-woven outdoor furniture arranged beneath canvas parasols gives over the entire design agenda to the skyline — Sant'Agnese in Agone's twin campaniles and the dome itself commanding whatever attention remains.

The Pantheon Iconic Rome Hotel, Autograph Collection Reviews

"We had a great stay at the pantheon iconic. It is central to the city of Rome. It is down a very small side street where you can find off the beaten track cafes and gelato but still be minutes from the pantheon and trevi fountain. Breakfast was great and on site in their upstairs restaurant divinity. Finally they had an amazingly attentive and kind staff who made us feel welcome the minute we walked through the door."

"This is my 7th trip to Rome over many years, and I decided to try this hotel for the first time. My wife and I stayed for 10 nights. It was excellent; it's luxurious, impeccably clean, incredibly quiet, and comfortable. The room had excellent WiFi and showers. The staff at the front desk and the breakfast restaurant were always friendly, efficient, and welcoming. The buffet breakfast (with the option of custom made omelets, etc.) was of excellent quality in the meats, cheeses, breads, fruits, treats, and coffee. The hotel location is excellent: you can be at The Pantheon 90 seconds after walking out the front door. I'll happily stay here again. The only nit about the hotel is the weird light switches in the guest rooms; it takes a while to figure them out (though the nightstands have a master on / off switch). I was out one morning and my wife called the front desk to send someone up. She laughed when he said 'We work here and we don't know how the lights work; we just keep pressing buttons until a good combination comes on!'"

"We really enjoyed our stay at this hotel. It's in a perfect location for anyone wanting to enjoy Rome. Walking distance to all the major sites and surrounded by wonderful restaurants and cafes. The front desk and concierge services are superb. The rooms are updated and very comfortable, and quiet. The breakfast buffet offers hot and cold options. They have a roof top restaurant and bar with a Michelin one star next door. Our room was clean thanks to their commitment to excellent housekeeping. There is a fitness center there. We plan to return to Rome within the next year and will look forward to another stay."

"Our group of four seniors recently stayed at the Pantheon Iconic. We can’t imagine a better boutique hotel in Rome. It is very centrally located and within easy walking distance to all of the famous tourist spots. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. The rooms are modern, well maintained, very quiet and equipped with all of the standard amenities. It is difficult to see on Google maps, but the hotel entrance is located on a one-way street and car services and cabs can drop you off and pick you up at the front door of the lobby. The breakfast buffer is delicious and includes hot items like eggs and bacon, Italian meats and cheeses, fresh fruit, pastries, juices, etc. The dinner is also very good. For any meal, you can dine indoors or on the terrace looking out over the Rome roof tops. If you want to dine out, the hotel is surrounded by so many quaint restaurants that it makes choosing difficult. We highly recommend this hotel."
