PB hotel design editorial

Trailing ivy cascading down a rusticated travertine facade on Via Ludovisi, illuminated against the Roman night by warm uplighting, announces the Rome EDITION with a gesture that is theatrical without being loud — a quality Ian Schrager has made his signature across the brand. The building, a mid-century palazzo steps from the Via Veneto, was transformed by Schrager working alongside Roman architects to deliver 83 rooms across six floors, the exterior's classical bones left largely intact while the interior was stripped back and rebuilt around a language of warm walnut paneling, herringbone oak floors, and Carrara marble surfaces that feel closer to a well-edited private apartment than a conventional hotel. The guest rooms carry that restraint with confidence — full-height timber millwork, low platform beds with leather-trimmed headboards, and tulip-footed side tables in white Carrara punctuate cream linen and natural wool against the Roman roofline beyond floor-level windows fitted with deep upholstered sills. The underground bar shifts register entirely: paneled in dark stained wood with red velvet banquettes, fur throws, and candlelight bouncing off a rouge marble fireplace surround, it has the atmosphere of a private members' club buried beneath the city. Above it all, a rooftop terrace with a limestone-edged lap pool planted with mature olive trees and bamboo screens delivers an unlikely Roman garden, its travertine deck furnished with teak armchairs and striped cushions looking out across the terracotta panorama of the Ludovisi district.

"I’ve got mixed feelings about it here. Very sexy in external looks. The patio is great , very happening vibe, the inside bars and staff are all very good. Quiet neighborhood not very touristy. The rooms though feel spartan, and outright puny for the price. Unless you’re a traveling salesperson , don’t take anything under deluxe. I’d stay in the middle lanes there, even the suites for the price will disappoint you if you’ve ever stayed in one in Italy . It’s an efficient room, horrible space for bags , or your clothes out of the bags. It’s like the Marriot off brands that working people use, not for vacation travel. Everyone is nice, beyond nice, and depending on my time and purpose, I’d go back and stay. I’ll definitely eat there and come to the patio."

"My wife and I had a lovely experience at The Edition. The rooms were great with plenty of room especially for Italy. The staff was fantastic from the check in to the concierge. Giulia was especially impressive. She helped resolve an issue we had with a travel tour and consistently provided great suggestions on where to go."

"As we prepare to arrive this Friday morning at the The Rome EDITION, I cannot say enough about the incredible pre-stay service we have already received. From the moment we made our reservation, the warmth, professionalism, and genuine care from the entire team have been exceptional. Marina Rogova, General Manager, and Vanessa Scano, Executive Assistant Manager, immediately made us feel welcomed and valued. They truly listened to me, from my arrival time and room needs as well as connecting me with their wonderful concierge team for dining and transportation arrangements. This meant so much that they would take the time to ensure our stay will be the best it could be. Leonardo and Sara in concierge have been absolutely amazing — responsive, thoughtful, knowledgeable, and incredibly helpful in making our upcoming trip to Rome feel seamless and exciting. My last visit to Italy was over 50 years ago, so their reassurance, recommendations, and attention to detail have meant so much to me. This is clearly a truly service-oriented property where hospitality comes first. Whether you are looking for places to visit, restaurants, tours, or special experiences, this concierge team does it all with such care and enthusiasm. I’m a Lifetime Titanium Bonvoy member, LOVE Marriott properties and was drawn to The Rome EDITION (they have a beautiful rooftop setting) — I am so glad we chose it for our pre-cruise stay. We are already counting down the days until we arrive and experience this beautiful city. Thank you all for your amazing service and kindness. We cannot wait for our stay and look forward to meeting you all!"

"Where do I even start. The Rome EDITION completely blew me away and it wasn’t just because the property is stunning — it was the PEOPLE.The staff anticipated everything before I even had to ask. Every detail, every preference — remembered. You don’t find that everywhere and it made all the difference. The concierge team deserves their own shoutout. They helped us get into amazing restaurants, and when I had a dental emergency mid-trip they found me an excellent English-speaking dentist without missing a beat. That’s when you really see what a hotel is made of. Also — the rooftop. GO UP THERE. The views of Rome are absolutely incredible, don’t skip it. Now the moment that genuinely got me — they surprised me with a cake to celebrate my 350th Marriott night. I never mentioned it. I was not expecting that at all. That’s not just good service, that’s next level. Two nights wasn’t enough. Already thinking about when I’m coming back. I love edition hotels and per usual The Rome EDITION set the bar! 10/10 in every way."
