PB hotel design editorial

Spread across a granite-edged promontory on Sardinia's Costa Smeralda, where the macchia scrubland gives way to turquoise water of near-impossible clarity, 7Pines Resort Sardinia sits within one of the most carefully controlled architectural landscapes in Europe — the Aga Khan's legendary development zone, where building codes have enforced low profiles, earthen tones, and Sardinian vernacular forms since the 1960s. The resort's low-slung bungalow clusters honor that tradition faithfully, their ochre render and terracotta roof pitches dissolving into the hillside rather than competing with it. Down at the waterline, a boldly geometric beach club pavilion with a folded terracotta canopy — visible from the aerial images — asserts something more contemporary, its angular facets drawing on Costa Smeralda's long history of marrying Mediterranean craft with architectural ambition. Inside, the interiors translate that same duality into a softer register. Exposed white-painted beam ceilings and bleached oak joinery establish a breezy residential calm, while etched glass headboard panels carry abstracted textile patterns referencing Sardinian filigree weaving — a detail visible in the guest rooms that grounds the design in place without resorting to folklore. The outdoor dining pavilion, roofed in split bamboo cane and hung with woven rattan pendant lights, extends the palette into the garden, where a curvilinear pool winds between date palms and agapanthus with the unhurried geometry of a natural inlet. The overall effect is closer to a private Sardinian estate than a resort hotel.

"From the moment we arrived at 7Pines Resort Sardinia, we knew we were somewhere special. The staff are outstanding — genuinely warm, attentive and always one step ahead, yet never intrusive. Their care and professionalism made the entire stay feel effortless and truly welcoming. The room was beautiful: spacious, elegantly designed, and perfectly in tune with the natural surroundings. Every detail felt considered, creating a sense of calm and understated luxury. And the sense of place was really strong. The property itself is simply stunning. Set within lush Mediterranean nature, with breathtaking views over the sea, it offers a rare feeling of privacy and tranquility. It’s the perfect place to disconnect and recharge. The food was another highlight. From breakfast to dinner, everything was of the highest quality — fresh, refined, and full of flavour. Each dining experience felt thoughtful and memorable. Chef Pasquale D’Ambrosio brings a refined, contemporary vision to Italian cuisine, while the pizzas by Franco Pepe remain a benchmark of craftsmanship, lightness and absolute respect for ingredients. We left feeling completely relaxed and already looking forward to coming back. Highly recommended."

"I visited 7 Pines, Sardinia with a girlfriend and we had a wonderful time. The staff were all very friendly, especially 'Alberto' the life guard and 'Hamza' the pool attendant who looked after us throughout our stay. We were given complimentary treats while lying by the pool such as fruit, water and ice cream which was a really nice touch. The breakfast was excellent and plentiful and we tried the Pizza tasting menu at Spazio one evening which was nice but extremely filling. Our room looked out over the pool, it was fairly small but had everything we needed and the beds were extremely comfortable. All in all we really enjoyed our stay at the hotel. The location of the hotel is fairly remote and walking to the local town of Baia Sardinia took 15-20 minutes."

"I had a wonderful stay at 7Pines Resort Sardinia. Everything was beautiful, from the clean rooms and peaceful atmosphere to the stunning gardens and excellent healthy breakfast. The housekeeping team was kind and helpful, and the pool service was also outstanding and very relaxing. What truly made the experience special was Hamsa at the pool area. It is rare to meet someone with such professionalism, kindness, and attention to detail. His warm attitude and elegant way of interacting made me feel genuinely welcomed and cared for throughout my stay. Even with the changing weather, his positive energy brought warmth and comfort to the whole atmosphere. Hamsa is a true example of exceptional hospitality and someone who leaves a lasting impression on guests. Thank you for the outstanding service he is definitely one of the reasons I would love to come back again."
