PB hotel design editorial

Spread across a granite-edged promontory on Sardinia's Costa Smeralda, where the macchia scrubland gives way to turquoise water of near-impossible clarity, 7Pines Resort Sardinia sits within one of the most carefully controlled architectural landscapes in Europe — the Aga Khan's legendary development zone, where building codes have enforced low profiles, earthen tones, and Sardinian vernacular forms since the 1960s. The resort's low-slung bungalow clusters honor that tradition faithfully, their ochre render and terracotta roof pitches dissolving into the hillside rather than competing with it. Down at the waterline, a boldly geometric beach club pavilion with a folded terracotta canopy — visible from the aerial images — asserts something more contemporary, its angular facets drawing on Costa Smeralda's long history of marrying Mediterranean craft with architectural ambition. Inside, the interiors translate that same duality into a softer register. Exposed white-painted beam ceilings and bleached oak joinery establish a breezy residential calm, while etched glass headboard panels carry abstracted textile patterns referencing Sardinian filigree weaving — a detail visible in the guest rooms that grounds the design in place without resorting to folklore. The outdoor dining pavilion, roofed in split bamboo cane and hung with woven rattan pendant lights, extends the palette into the garden, where a curvilinear pool winds between date palms and agapanthus with the unhurried geometry of a natural inlet. The overall effect is closer to a private Sardinian estate than a resort hotel.

"Had a fantastic experience at 7Pines - beautiful resort, lovely beach area, and pool. Come club is so fun. Staff couldn’t be more helpful, especially Hamaz who helped our large group around the pool."

"Echoing the thoughts of another reviewer who visited this hotel recently I would advise to AVOID this hotel. We stayed for 1 week with 2 teenagers and were extremely disappointed. Staff were rude, unhelpful and really lacked expertise in the service industry. On top of the high cost of staying there, water sports charges, restaurants and other extra expenses were offensively expensive and the hotel charges its guests 200 EURO per 2 person sunbed per day on the beach and 60 EUROS for one snorkel for 30 minutes for example. So many instances through the week of being treated poorly - such as refusing to send a golf cart to the gate of the hotel in the rain after visiting the pharmacy, very late daily servicing of the room (4pm for example despite prompting). The gym (an important facility of a 5 star hotel) not up to standard and had inadequate AC which meant it was always too hot to use - 30 degrees Celsius / 86 Fahrenheit. Staff did nothing to resolve this. Rooms very small, plus they try and whack you with a 75 EUROS per room per night charge for 'optional tips' despite tipping at meals etc. My husband is a Globalist level at Hyatt and was given no recognition of loyalty. Would not recommend, the resort vibe was not good."

"We recently stayed at the 7Pines Resort which was amazing. The staff were wonderful, the hotel lovely and the surrounding countryside beautiful. A special thank you to GiGi, the wonderful concierge, who went out of her way to make sure we had an outstanding vacation."

"A solid hotel but not wow. Let’s start with the grounds, very nice and well maintained. A warm welcome. The rooms are nicely appointed, clean, comfortable, beach chic and a great A/C system (a must with the horrendously hight temperatures). Amenities decent. Turn down service ok. Breakfast is included and very good. Service is oftentimes slow and at times inconsistent. But they try to please and staff is very nice. Spa experience (massage) was excellent. Spazzio: extremely pricey, incredibly average and disappointing food, and borderline rude service. We had a late lunch at Cone beach club. It was expensive but nice. Don’t try to go swimming there, just stick to the main beach. The main beach is small, no one there to take care of giving you towels or water. But swimming there is fabulous. We did not try the pools because why swim in a pool when you have the beautiful, clean sea!! The Capogiro dinner experience was truly Michelin star worthy and AMAZING. I’m giving a separate review because it deserves one!!! We asked the concierge to reserve for us chairs at the Belmond Romazino beach. 300 euro per chair. Worth it. The Belmond property and beach are amazing!! We had dinner at Matsuhisa at Call di Volpe and highly recommend. The best part was booking two days on a boat where we spent the time exploring the Sardinian coastline."

"★★★★★ Absolutely wonderful stay at 7Pines Resort Sardinia From start to finish, our time here was fantastic. The resort grounds are beautiful — lush, well-kept gardens everywhere you look — and our room was spotlessly clean, spacious, and very comfortable. Breakfast was excellent, with so many fresh, high-quality options, and all the food we had during our stay was truly outstanding. A special thank you to Hamza at the pool area — he is absolutely wonderful and so professional! He went out of his way to help us, and kindly arranged a table for us at Spazio right in front of the screen so we could comfortably watch the World Cup final. We really appreciated his kindness and great service. We would definitely recommend this resort and hope to come back soon!"
