PB hotel design editorial

A nineteenth-century Sicilian villa pressed directly against the shoreline of Mazzarò bay, with its turreted white facade stepping down to a private beach of fine sand, set the terms for everything that followed when Belmond brought Villa Sant'Andrea into its collection. The building's original domestic character — generous ceiling heights, plasterwork cornices, arched doorways — has been preserved rather than smoothed away, and the interiors carry that residential warmth through polished travertine floors, cane-panelled headboards, oversized wicker pendant lights, and framed panels of hand-painted Sicilian ceramic tile deployed as art objects rather than surface decoration. Colourful ceramic pine cones and pineapples drawn from the Caltagirone tradition appear on bedside tables, grounding the palette of warm sand and pale linen in something distinctly local. The 68 rooms and suites are distributed across the villa and its lower garden annexes, most facing directly onto the Ionian Sea through arched or full-height French-doored balconies where terracotta-potted geraniums blaze against the blue. The terrace restaurant is set on a broad loggia of stone columns and canvas canopies, wrought-iron chairs pulled up to white-clothed tables overlooking the rocky islet of Isola Bella. An infinity pool at the property's upper level dissolves visually into the bay beyond — the rocky headland of Cape Sant'Andrea framing the view in a composition that no amount of careful design could improve upon.

Villa Sant'Andrea, A Belmond Hotel Reviews

"The Villa San Andrea is a beautiful hotel located on a private beach with a fantastic sea view. The staff is excellent, especially the concierge. The lavish buffet breakfast was spectacular, served in the restaurant with again a fabulous view. The room was lovely with comfortable bedding, great shower and amenities. The hotel is located a very short distance from the funicular which takes you to the town of Taormina (minimal fee). They offer a free shuttle to take you there as well. It takes quite a bit longer than the funicular (at least 15 minutes depending on traffic). The shuttle drops you off at their sister hotel, Grand Timeo, which is also fabulous. It’s a hard choice to make, beach hotel or in the town. I would say you can’t go wrong with either, it just depends on your interests. Wonderful experience, highly recommend!"

"I dont even know where to begin. My Husband and I stayed at Villa Sant Andrea 21 nights,OUTSTANDING experience. Our whole entire stay from the beach stuff,to front desk,to restaurants staff,to management,to room service staff, to concierge,EVERYONE ALWAYS with a smile on their face and kindness ,it was very impressive on how not one time in that long stay anyone ever showed anything else than a smile and kindness.,it actually hit me on the last day. Not to mention It was the end of the season ,the hotel was closing 5 days after our stay and they treated us like we were the season first customers ! All that mattered to them its on how to serve us even better. The accommodations in every aspect was absolutely next level. This place is impressive!!!!! Not just the view and the hotel which is absolutely stunning and magical but the staff ❤️ oh my goodness the most kind and professional that you can ever encounter ! My Husband and I . , we highly recommend this place to anyone who wana experience the best of the best in every aspect ! We left with forever lasting memories! We are definitely going back!!!"

"The location is nice except late in the season the sun sets behind the hotel so the sun leaves the beach very early and there is no sun at the pool at all all day although it is a lovely pool. A warning,... rooms are very high price but VERY SMALL!!!!! There was no way for my husband and I to "unpack" because there were no drawers available except for a few small ones in the closet. We had a huge deck (room #109) but there were only two large decks in the hotel. All the others could barely get a small table and two chairs on them. The staff was very nice and very beautiful. Breakfast was good but not like at their sister hotel The Grand Timeo. Would I stay here again? Probably not. I just need some space especially if I'm on a vacation to relax by the beach. We LOVED the Grand Hotel Timeo uptown and there are shuttles to take you to the beach so I would do that in the future."
