PB hotel design editorial

Positioned on the Giudecca's northern edge with the entire Venetian skyline — San Giorgio Maggiore, the Campanile, the Doge's Palace — arrayed across the water like a painted backdrop, the Cipriani has held one of the great site advantages in European hospitality since Giuseppe Cipriani opened it in 1958. The property was conceived not as a palazzo conversion but as a purpose-built garden hotel, low-slung and terracotta-washed, its four floors stepping back from the lagoon in a manner that keeps the views generous from almost every angle. The Olympic-length pool, visible in the aerial image with white-canopied loungers ranged along its edge, remains one of the very few in Venice proper — a civilised impossibility in a city where flat ground is itself a luxury. Inside, the 96 rooms and suites draw on the full vocabulary of the Venetian decorative tradition without surrendering to pastiche. Lacquered bedheads in the Settecento manner sit against damask wallpapers in warm cream and gold; herringbone parquet floors anchor rooms furnished with painted Venetian case pieces and Persian rugs; blown-glass Murano chandeliers cast the kind of diffuse amber light that makes everything look like a Tiepolo. The lagoon-facing terrace restaurant, lit at dusk by iron lanterns and set with mosaic-topped tables directly above the water's edge, distils the property's essential proposition: that the most persuasive argument for staying on the Giudecca is the view back toward a city you are relieved, briefly, not to be inside.

Cipriani, A Belmond Hotel Reviews

"After spending an incredible week in Positano, we arrived at Hotel Cipriani wondering how anything could possibly top what had already been an amazing vacation. Within minutes of arriving at the hotel's private dock, we realized we were about to experience something truly extraordinary. From the moment we stepped into the reception lobby, every detail was flawless. Antonia welcomed us with genuine warmth and two glasses of rosé while we checked in, immediately making us feel like treasured guests rather than visitors. Even before our arrival, the hotel had reached out to ask about our personal preferences—from our preferred pillow type to our favorite beverages—setting the tone for the impeccable level of personalized service we would experience throughout our stay. The Hotel Cipriani is, without question, one of the most beautiful hotels I have ever experienced. Every space is breathtaking. The Bellini-pink Venetian plaster walls, gleaming terrazzo floors, exquisite Murano glass chandeliers, and timeless Venetian design create an atmosphere of effortless elegance. Every corner feels thoughtfully curated, and no detail has been overlooked. Our Junior Suite overlooking the gardens was absolutely beautiful. The expansive terrace offered peaceful views of the lush grounds with glimpses of the lagoon beyond—a perfect place to enjoy a morning coffee or an evening aperitivo. Inside, the room was stunning, with luxurious marble floors, handcrafted Murano glass accents, Venetian mirrors, sumptuous bedding, and every modern convenience discreetly integrated. Even the lighting system impressed us, allowing us to choose between bright, soft, or relaxing ambiance with the touch of a button. Waiting in our room was a perfectly chilled bottle of champagne, delicious snacks, and a handwritten welcome note from General Manager Thomas—a thoughtful gesture that perfectly reflected the hotel's extraordinary attention to detail and genuine hospitality. Breakfast each morning was one of the highlights of our stay. The buffet is unlike anything we've experienced elsewhere in Italy, offering an incredible variety of beautifully presented dishes. The staff are exceptional. On the very first morning, our server remembered exactly how I liked my cappuccino, and throughout our stay everyone anticipated our needs before we even had to ask. Nothing ever felt like too much trouble. Dinner at Cip's Club was equally unforgettable. Sitting directly on the Grand Canal, watching the sun set over Venice while enjoying exceptional cuisine, was one of those magical travel moments we'll never forget. The views of Venice at dusk are simply spectacular. The famous Olympic-sized swimming pool deserves special mention. It is not only enormous but absolutely beautiful, especially when illuminated at night. Sitting on the terrace with cocktails overlooking the glowing pool after dinner was the perfect way to end each evening. The complimentary shuttle to St. Mark's Square made exploring Venice effortless, yet returning to Giudecca each evening felt like escaping into a peaceful oasis. We absolutely loved staying away from the crowds while still being only minutes from the heart of Venice. It offered the best of both worlds. What truly sets Hotel Cipriani apart, however, is the people. Every member of the staff delivers service with genuine warmth, grace, and pride. They somehow manage to anticipate your needs while making every interaction feel sincere rather than scripted. It's this level of hospitality that transforms a beautiful hotel into an unforgettable experience. Hotel Cipriani is far more than a luxury hotel—it is a destination and an experience in itself. Every interaction, every space, every thoughtful touch combines to create something truly magical. It is one of those rare places that not only meets the highest expectations but surpasses them in every possible way. If I had one tiny wish, it would have been receiving the room upgrade that comes with booking through American Express Fine Hotels + Resorts—but honestly, even without it, our stay was absolute perfection. Perhaps next year! Three nights simply weren't enough. We were genuinely sad to leave and are already planning our return. I cannot imagine staying anywhere else when visiting Venice. If you have the opportunity to stay at Hotel Cipriani, don't hesitate. It isn't just one of the finest hotels in Venice—it is one of the finest hotels in the world. Our stay was unforgettable, and we are already counting the days until we return."

From the moment you arrive, the level of service is simply extraordinary. Every single member of the staff goes above and beyond to make your stay perfect. Nothing is ever too much trouble, and everything is handled with remarkable efficiency, warmth, and genuine care. It is hospitality at its very best. The food is outstanding. Breakfast is truly exceptional, with an incredible selection and impeccable quality, and every meal we had during our stay was absolutely delicious. The location is another highlight. Close enough to enjoy everything Venice has to offer, yet wonderfully peaceful, allowing you to escape the crowds and experience the city in complete tranquility. During the summer, the pool area is simply spectacular. It is a beautiful oasis where you can relax in an elegant setting, making the hotel feel like a resort while still being in Venice.
