PB hotel design editorial

Hamarikyu Gardens, one of Tokyo's oldest surviving feudal-era landscapes, spreads across the foreground of the aerial image here — a tidal garden of black pine and seawater ponds that has barely changed since the Tokugawa shogunate maintained it as a private hunting ground. Rising directly behind it, the glass curtain-walled tower that holds Conrad Tokyo makes that historical contrast impossible to ignore. The hotel sits within the Shiodome City Center tower in Shinbashi, occupying floors 28 through 37 of a 38-storey commercial building completed in 2005, with 290 rooms configured to face either Tokyo Bay or the gardens below. The interiors were designed by the Hirsch Bedner Associates studio, working a palette that moves between restrained Japanese minimalism and the material confidence expected of a flagship Conrad property. Guest rooms carry washi-paper wall panels printed with delicate cherry blossom motifs, walnut millwork, and floor-to-ceiling glazing that frames the city at altitude — the suite shown at dusk, with its dark-stained four-poster bed and a textile artwork above the headboard evoking layered ocean waves, demonstrates how Japanese craft references were woven into an otherwise contemporary framework. The double-height French restaurant, with its cascading circular chandelier of bare filaments suspended above tulip-pedestal chairs, takes a more European register. At the top of the building, the lap pool — tiled in dense aquamarine mosaic beneath a glazed ceiling — delivers the particular Tokyo pleasure of watching the city dissolve into night from above.

"Our experience at Conrad Tokyo from start to finish was absolutely excellent. Great service from start to finish, the room was gorgeous, and Rudra was particularly great in providing timely and welcoming service at the Executive Lounge."

"Always an amazing time staying here at Conrad Tokyo! The executive lounge service here is top notch!! Welcomed to the lounge by Rudra who is a definite asset to Hilton with his genuinely cheerful & caring demeanor!! Also the “signature scent” that is diffused in the lobby area & the hallway to the lounge is absolutely marvelous!! Upon researching, found out the exclusive scent can be purchased at the shop in the lobby - room spray, essential oil or reed diffiser. FYI: Shop is not Hilton owned so room charge is not possible."

"We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Conrad Tokyo. Staff were friendly and professional and the room immaculate and well-appointed. There was some noise from trains running below our 34th floor room so earplugs were necessary until about 1 am. Other than that everything was perfect and the views from the lobby amazing. Great location within easy walking distance of Ginza and the beautiful Hama-Ryku park just across the road. We had dinner at the the Cerise restaurant which offers nice selection of dishes. Kasuki and Marin took great care of us there with excellent, friendly service. We would have no hesitation returning to the Conrad Tokyo."

"Conrad Tokyo is probably my favorite hotel of all time. Everyone we interacted with treated us very well. With Diamond status we received a room upgrade, which was very kind. We received free breakfast and the breakfast at Cerise is very good quality, especially for a hotel breakfast. Housekeeping makes multiple stops in each day to make sure you have everything you need. Room service was fast. Also, every time I pressed the button for “star service” I felt I was really cared for. We enjoyed the jacuzzi, which by the way is only available clothes-free. Also enjoyed the pool, and the executive lounge. Location is great, nearby two stations. Views from the room and every restaurant in the place were amazing. We have stayed in a good amount of five star hotels, but this one is my favorite. Hilton really does a very good job of hiring and training. The people are the best! Brand loyal over here!"

"What a wonderful experience. The staff at the Conrad was exceptional, beginning with the check-in experience. Emily was so thoughtful and helpful. She got our vacation off to a great start. We had breakfast and supper both days, the wait staff was superb. Ai and Shunsuke were especially helpful. We will be back!"
