PB hotel design editorial

Rising fifteen floors above Abdoun — Amman's most polished residential quarter, where the city's limestone hills carry a particular quality of afternoon light — the St. Regis Amman translates the brand's New York formality into a vocabulary that acknowledges its surroundings without deferring to pastiche. The facade works in the warm honey-toned stone that Jordanian building codes effectively mandate across the capital, its classical cornice lines and arched ground-floor arcade giving the tower a civic weight that distinguishes it from the glass-and-steel internationalism visible elsewhere on the skyline. The building's lower podium, visible in the images, deploys intricate mashrabiya-style perforated screens in pale stone and dark metal — a gesture toward Islamic geometric ornament that reappears inside as decorative headboard panels above the beds. The 258 rooms are finished in a palette of white plaster, bleached linen, and soft grey geometric carpeting, with brass-toned table lamps and drum pendants in woven metal bringing warmth without heaviness. The headboards carry abstracted arabesque latticework framed in dark lacquer, a detail that anchors the interiors to place without overcrowding the composition. Floor-to-ceiling windows frame panoramic views across Amman's low-rise spread toward the western hills. The rooftop bar, dressed in walnut timber, teal and ochre upholstery, and living green walls under a slatted pergola, shifts register entirely — more Levantine garden than grand hotel — and captures the city's light in a way the lobby, for all its polish, cannot quite match.

"My husband and I recently had the privilege of staying at The St. Regis Amman for an entire month, and it was an experience we will always treasure. While the hotel itself is absolutely stunning, it is the people who truly made this stay extraordinary. The property is elegant, spacious, and beautifully designed throughout. The breakfast restaurant, Mercado Andaluz, is particularly impressive—large, light-filled, and thoughtfully laid out, with ample seating that never feels crowded. It is a calm, inviting space to start the day, and the quality and consistency of the food over a long stay were exceptional. Breakfast each morning was a highlight thanks especially to Abdullah, our breakfast server. Abdullah is one of those rare individuals who anticipates your needs before you even realize them yourself. He quickly learned our preferences, often knowing our order before we asked, and greeted us every morning with genuine warmth and kindness. Over time, he became very dear to us, and seeing him each day was something we truly looked forward to. The experience was further elevated by the wonderful hostesses, Farah and Alaa, who were consistently friendly, welcoming, and gracious. The chefs, Dahir, Bilal, Abdullah, and Ismail, were outstanding at what they do. The food was absolutely delicious and remarkably consistent every single day, which is no small feat during a month-long stay. Ali, another server, was also incredibly attentive and helpful, always stepping in seamlessly. The entire breakfast operation was led by Ahmed, the restaurant manager, whose professionalism and leadership were clearly reflected in the exceptional service. Housekeeping also deserves special recognition. Haydee, who took care of our room, was truly exceptional at her job. Our room always looked immaculate, and her attention to detail was remarkable. Beyond that, she was so friendly and warm, always greeting us with the most beautiful smile. One especially touching moment was when she went above and beyond by bringing me flowers and leaving a kind note—a gesture I will never forget. The gym was another space where the personal touch made all the difference. Mamdouh, the personal trainer, was always present and incredibly approachable. He generously offered tips on my form, gave thoughtful advice on how to incorporate new exercises into my routine, and was a wonderful conversationalist. Seeing him regularly made the gym feel welcoming and personal. Finally, the front security team—Nancy, Ziad, and Rajaa—were consistently friendly, welcoming, and warm, greeting us every time we came and went with genuine smiles. In addition, Nancy and Ziad were especially helpful in offering thoughtful recommendations for local restaurants that Jordanians themselves love, which added so much depth and authenticity to our time in Amman. The St. Regis Amman is a beautiful hotel, but it is the people who truly define the experience. This remarkable team transformed a month-long stay into something genuinely special, and we are deeply grateful for the care, kindness, and hospitality we received. I cannot recommend this hotel highly enough."

"Thank you for making this tiring week of workshop a pleasant relaxing and warming stay. The level of hospitality and excellence made the over 15 guests on my group very productive and appreciative. Starting at the reception experience, to the rooms size and cleanliness, the free many services, and not to forget the different restaurants especially Mercado and their staff like Mamon and Ali. I will write a full review with pictures after the workshop. Much love Awfa"
