PB hotel design editorial

Three colonial-era Franco-Lao shophouses on Luang Prabang's Sakkaline Road, within the UNESCO-protected historic core of the old royal capital, were carefully restored and joined to form 3 Nagas Luang Prabang MGallery — one of the more honestly considered adaptive reuse projects in Indochina hospitality. The street facade, with its whitewashed render, vermilion shutters, and steeply pitched roof married to a traditional Lao timber wing, captures exactly the hybrid architectural character that earned Luang Prabang its World Heritage status in 1995. Parked outside most evenings, a burgundy Citroën Traction Avant ties the whole composition to its mid-twentieth-century French provincial moment. Inside, the property's twenty-two rooms and villas move between two distinct material registers depending on their location. Rooms in the colonial building are finished with encaustic cement-tile floors in intricate geometric patterns, bentwood cane chairs, and teak ceilings hung with cylindrical glass pendants — a dining room that has the atmosphere of a carefully edited Indochine archive, its walls lined with black-and-white photography. The garden villas shift into a warmer, more overtly Lao vernacular: deep red hardwood floors, exposed post-and-beam frames with whitewashed infill panels, four-poster canopy beds draped in white muslin, and terracotta-tiled suites that open directly onto private garden terraces. Handwoven Lao silk runners and indigo-dyed scatter cushions draw the local textile tradition through both registers with consistency.

"Wonderful hotel in a fabulous location. Perfect for watching the monks pass by early morning, and within easy reach of the impressive waterfalls. The bar makes the best cocktails in town, and you won’t beat the breakfast, all delivered with the elegance and charm of the hotel staff."

"As a solo female traveler I felt completely warmly welcomed at 3 Nagas Hotel in Luang Prabang. The location is perfect for walking around the old town and the staff was always kind, attentive and always happy to help. The room was very spacious, clean at all times and not noisy from the outside. Dinner was delicious with authentic Lao flavors and the cocktails were beautifully made, a lovely way to unwind in the evening. I also enjoyed activities at their sister property Sofitel Luang Prabang, including a deeply relaxing spa treatment, a peaceful sunrise cruise on the Mekong and a fun treasure hunt game that helped me discover more about the city and its history. A wonderful, comfortable stay that I’d happily recommend, especially for solo travelers. Great value for money and atmosphere!"

"Amazing hotel in the centre of the Heritage Part of Luang Prabang . Has only 15 rooms which are all beautifully Maintained . No television in the room and hotel . Staff were very good . Sara in room booking and ASU in reception took care of our rooms . We got the room no 6 on the first floor with a front facing huge balcony with fan and sitting area . The team has tried their best to preserve the originality of the hotel understanding the modern day requirements also has been satisfied . Their F&B was very simple and very good . Their breakfast is ala carte , once you order everything is freshly made . Mr Mandal and his team of kik , Meena , keo , thone , Vanh took very much care of us . In our 3 nights stay , we had 3 breakfasts and 4 meals in the 3 nagas restaurant . Food was customised to our tastes .They also have a wonderful home made ice cream which was daily ritual for us . room service was good . Every evening they used to keep a snack in the room . Wi-Fi was very good . The hotel has a shuttle to Sofitel hotel which is a much bigger one and vast . The hotel team was generous enough to give us a late check out and and airport drop . To experience the luxury of slow tourism and relaxation , I would vouch for 3 nagas ."

"3 buildings, all Unesco Heritage site buildings. 15 rooms, from deluxe to executive, very reasonable pricing in the center of town. What ambiance, the whole street felt like one's own lanai, an absolute must. The breakfast which was included is a la carte and you could pick as many as you wanted. Wonderful, arrange an airport or train station pick up. We loved the place. And we travel a lot."
