The stay was for only one night, which made the convenience of their shuttle service to three different locations particularly helpful. Overall, the accurate room presentation and complimentary transport balanced out the initial location drawback."

"I want to start with the positives. Check-in was genuinely pleasant, and I was pleasantly surprised to be upgraded to a suite. Getting to the hotel is also very convenient, whether by taxi, which is relatively inexpensive, or via the metro, since Alila is connected by bridge to the train station. That said, there were several things that did not meet five-star expectations. The welcome gift was a fruit platter, but most of the fruit was not really edible, so it did not feel particularly welcoming. Breakfast is served on the ground floor, which means a ride down 41 floors every morning, so guests should be prepared for that. The buffet selection is quite limited, although the à la carte menu does offer a decent variety of Western and local dishes. Service was also inconsistent. On my first day, I checked the sign for my room to be made up at around 9 a.m., but when I returned at 3 p.m. it still had not been cleaned, and I had to call reception to get it done. The pool was another disappointment: it was extremely cold and, in my view, basically unusable. Since the pool is clearly one of the hotel’s main selling points, that was especially frustrating. The gym was also very small and poorly equipped. I was fortunate to have an Anytime Fitness nearby at the train station, which was a much better option and only a five-minute walk away. Otherwise, the in-house gym would have been very limiting. Another disappointing aspect was the breakfast policy on my departure day. My flight was early, so I asked whether breakfast could be packed for me to take away, since it was included in my booking. Front office declined and instead suggested I pay for breakfast to go, which was the first time I have ever encountered that at a 5-star hotel. I also found the chauffeur service very limited. There was no downtown service, and it ended at 6 p.m., which feels impractical in a tropical destination where guests are often out early or later in the evening. It gave the impression that some services exist more in theory than in practice. Finally, I was disappointed by the low level of English among the staff. On several occasions I had to be redirected at reception because the person I was speaking to could not understand me, and even the staff member who was supposed to have the strongest English was still quite difficult to communicate with. That is not what I would expect from a five-star hotel in Southeast Asia. Overall, this felt more like a four-star experience than a five-star one. The check-in experience was strong, but too many details fell short of the standard I expected."

"I recently booked a 2-night solo stay at Alila Bangsar on a random Thursday, mainly to unlock the Alila brand for my Hyatt Brand Explorer and to celebrate a recent work milestone. I booked a Deluxe Balcony room (495 sq ft, City View) through Hyatt Privé. They upgraded me to Premier Room 590 sq ft City View (No balcony), which was great! Lissa at the reception was very polite. The hotel is relatively small with only 143 rooms and suites. Front desk mentioned they were at full occupancy, though it honestly didn't seem like it. The common areas, breakfast venue, and bar were very quiet throughout my stay. Early check-in wasn't available, which was strange. However, the soft service at check-in and reception left a bit to be desired: Welcome Amenity & Acknowledgement: There was no welcome amenity in the room upon arrival. I gave them about an hour and a half before calling reception to check. They eventually sent up some fruit with a generic note. Despite noting my work milestone in the booking, it wasn't acknowledged at all. The Room (Hard Product): The room itself is huge, spotless, and the bed was remarkably comfortable. I had a great sleep! There is a separate sitting area, and a bathroom with a rainfall shower. The rain shower had fantastic water pressure, definitely a highlight. I loved that they provide unlimited snacks on every floor. Dining & Amenities: Breakfast: Excellent quality. It is a hybrid buffet and à la carte setup with a solid mix of local and international options. The restaurant staff provided outstanding service. Especially Manav! He was excellent!!! Bar: Very quiet, I was literally the only person there during my visit. Gym: Located on the 40th floor. It has all the basics for a simple workout but it not cleaned very frequently as there are sweat stains on the treadmill. Even the washroom has a strange smell. Pool & Aesthetics: The hotel design and pool are extremely photogenic and very "Instagrammable." Elevators: A lot of reviews complain about the slow elevators. They are indeed slow, but it personally didn't bother me much. Final Verdict: The hard product is solid, but the overall service was pretty unmemorable and not personal. It's not worth booking through Hyatt Prive, there is no difference in service than if you book through 3rd parties For a special occasion, it missed the mark on hospitality. I give it 3/5. Would I return? No. In KL for that category, I would much rather stay at the Grand Hyatt or Hyatt Regency."
