"This hotel MADE our stay in KL. Honestly, we kind of thought it would and it did. KL was a stopover on our way home from New Delhi to LA so we decided to visit for a few days (had been to Singapore last year when also going around the world... definitely want to go back there... but this time we wanted to try something new).
KL is a low-key but sprawling, modern city and this is the best luxury hotel in town... and a great, contemporary Four Seasons. The views were amazing, the food was incredible, and the staff and management were excellent.
A few staff to mention that went above and beyond: Thera and Phupinder at the front desk, Affi the bellhop, Ling at breakfast, as well as Masiludin and Azrai. All great people.
We were here in the rainy season (locals asked why we had come, which is not what you want to hear your first day) but it didn't really matter in this location. And quite frankly, we lucked out with the weather anyway. BTW... though it was a coolish 78, that still feels REALLY hot here.
Though you can't get the classic, full-on Petronas Towers view from the hotel itself... it's adjacent to them, not facing them... you do get a little glimpse from your floor-to-ceiling windows in your room. Definitely opt for the fountains/towers view. The other side of the hotel overlooks some unremarkable parts of the city's skyline. One other thing to note. This hotel is built on a small piece of land that is maximized by its height. The hotel lobby is up on the 6th floor but the hotel rooms only go from floors 8 to 18 (and the floors up to 65 are residential, which was a bummer to find out). Try to get up as high as you can.
The location can't be beat. You're right next to the famous fountains (a mini-version of the fountains of Bellagio, only more garishly lit) and the beautifully lit towers. There's a big shopping mall next door (it's not as upscale as it once was but it was fine... there's conveniently a midline Japanese department store with good grocery store in it). Getting around town from here wasn't difficult, but you'll want to Uber (or should I say Grab?) wherever you go. It's just too hot and steamy to walk anywhere.
Our breakfasts were included and I highly recommend getting a rate that includes them. It made our stay infinitely better. The breakfast room was huge, overlooking the fountains, and the service was efficient and often delightful. The food was excellent, too. On our last day at the buffet, two managers came out to personally thank us for staying at their hotel. A nice touch.
The room was great. Not overly large but modern and very elegant. And it had those same amazing fountain views. The gym was large and well-stocked with equipment, and the rather smallish pool was a great place to escape to (when not hopping with unruly kids whose privileged parents reallllly didn't mind they were disturbing you). There was a corner hot tub they hadn't discovered which was heavenly... with a dead-on Petronas Towers view.
We had room service every night (having the best view in town, why leave the premises?) and the service and our meals were excellent every time.
A really pleasurable experience... our time in Malaysia was truly memorable as a result of the hospitality we received here. In a city not known for too many tourist destinations, the FS KL was the high point of our visit."
