PB hotel design editorial

Positioned directly opposite the Petronas Twin Towers in Kuala Lumpur's KLCC district, the tower that houses Traders Hotel Kuala Lumpur makes its case through proximity to one of the world's most recognisable skylines rather than competing with it architecturally. The 38-storey glass-and-steel structure, part of the broader KLCC development masterplanned in the 1990s alongside Cesar Pelli's twin towers, rises with the straightforward commercial confidence of its era — a pointed crown articulating the roofline, the distinctive petal-shaped porte-cochère at ground level giving the entry sequence an unexpected sculptural flourish visible in the exterior images. Inside, the 571 rooms work a palette of warm amber, terracotta, and sand — walls divided into colour-blocked planes that keep the interiors feeling considered rather than neutral, with striped wool-blend carpeting and low-slung upholstered sofas placed to draw the eye toward floor-to-ceiling windows framing the twin towers directly. The property's most memorable space is the upper-floor swimming pool, enclosed beneath a faceted glass-and-steel roof with angled walls that frame the Petronas towers through full-height glazing — an arrangement that turns a lap pool into an observation deck by a different name. The all-day dining restaurant, Gobo Chit Chat, unfolds beneath a barrel-vaulted ceiling pierced by star-point downlights, its travertine-toned floor and crimson patterned carpet providing the kind of generous volume that Shangri-La's upper-midscale Traders brand deploys to serve its predominantly corporate and conference clientele.

"Booked into a Clubroom for 6 nights. It was a beautiful stay compared with a week ago when I booked a normal room. The conditions of the room itself, there were a huge difference in maintaining the room. The normal room was ran down with most of the fixtures were either broken or hanging loosely of the wall. The Clubroom on the other hand was well maintained. The service we received from the staff, Club lounge to Gobo Chit Chat, service was very good. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Special mentioned Fareed in Gobo Chit Chat, 'Blond Hair' serving staff, and from Club Lounge, there was John, Leng, Dacu and a few others which I didn't take note of their names. Lastly there was Anissa, Assistant Front Office Manager who was friendly and helpful, with a professional customer service approach towards her guests."

"Absolutely fantastic experience! Huge shoutout to Oliver for his outstanding service. From the moment I arrived, he welcomed with such a warm smile and genuine hospitality that instantly made ne feel valued as guests. His attentiveness, professionalism, and ability to anticipate what guests need truly reflect top-tier hotel service standards. The lounge experience was equally impressive with great view — delicious food, great selection, and beautifully presented. The atmosphere was comfortable, relaxing, and perfect for unwinding. Service like Oliver’s is what turns a good visit into a memorable one. Hospitality at its finest. Highly recommended! Thank you Oliver!"

"I am so confused as to how this hotel has such a good rating. This hotel is a huge let down. Dark musky halls, horrible service, incredibly old scuffed up rooms, everything is sticky. Gunk in the empty fridge behind the loose cabinets, dust stuff on the walls. Save yourself and stay elsewhere. I’m not one to be this harsh, I started looking for a new stay as soon as I saw the room."

"I'm here right now. Very hungry and angry. After a long flight, I was exhausted. Upon arriving at the hotel, I realized I could only pay the taxi driver in cash and needed an ATM. It turned out the hotel didn't have one, and I had to walk 10 minutes to a nearby building. How is this even possible for a 5-star hotel? Then, I wanted to have dinner. I went up to the SkyBar, but they could only offer me a terrible table and a menu limited to pizza and wings—which makes sense for a bar, but it wasn't what I was looking for. I prefer healthy, light options for dinner. I went down to the main restaurant, which according to the website offers an a la carte menu. However, I was told they only serve a buffet, and if I wanted a la carte, I had to order room service. Reception confirmed that ordering to my room was my only option for a single-dish dinner on a Friday night. Result: I wasted half an hour just searching for food, only to be forced into ordering room service. Are you guys serious? In a hotel that positions itself as a luxury 5-star property, I'm forced to eat in my room because you can't provide a proper sit-down dinner experience? Seriously? I hope they turn this terrible first impression around so I can update this review to a more positive one later."
