PB hotel design editorial

Carrying the weight of a Florentine luxury brand into one of the Indian Ocean's most remote atolls was never going to be a modest undertaking. Baglioni Resort Maldives, which arrived on Dhaalu Atoll in 2019, answers that tension by grounding its Italian heritage in the vernacular logic of the overwater bungalow — thatched roofs pitched steeply over white-rendered volumes, the whole arrangement extending across the lagoon on timber jetties that catch the last of the equatorial light at dusk. The aerial view reveals a herringbone configuration of overwater villas fanning outward from the island's edge, each with its own sun deck and direct lagoon entry, the architecture keeping a deliberate humility of scale that lets the Indian Ocean horizon do the heavier work. Inside, the interiors move between warm rattan seating — circular-framed lounge chairs in the manner of woven tropical resort furnishings — and crisp white linens punctuated by cobalt blue cushions and accent walls, a palette that keeps one foot in the Aegean and another in the atoll's own turquoise register. Slatted timber ceilings, pale wide-plank flooring, and basket-weave pendant lights in copper-toned wire carry warmth into spaces that might otherwise read as clinical. The dining pavilion deploys full-height glazing on three sides, woven rattan chairs around white-clothed tables, and a suspended cluster of open cage pendants that glow amber against the darkening lagoon — a room where the view is never quite separate from the meal.

"We visited Baglioni resort for the second time, the first visit was in 2021 and it's still like a heaven! the concept of the hotel changed to all inclusive but we liked everything. I really did not want to go home!!! :) Our host Chingiz was supper kind and nice, provided all the necessary information and support during our wonderful vacation, thank you soooo much, a very tactful young man! All the staff: chefs (super kind Barun, also a big thank to the chef of japanese restaurant - makis were mindblowing), waiters, cleaners (we had so meticulous cleaner!! our villa was always perfectly straightened up!!), coach in the gym, massage therapist were so kind and professional, remembered details (e.g. what kind of coffee we like, tried to make our stay in the most comfortable way). Unfortunately I do not remember all the names - but we would like to thank everyone who was assisting us during our stay! And I still can't forget the cocktail with passion fruit and watermelon from maldivian night! the best cocktail I ever tried! The only thing that I would like to mention: we were with a kid, he is a 3 years old boy, and sometimes a lot of attention was paid to him that was a bit embarassing. I know that there is no bad intention at all, but it's better to check with parents/ or see the reaction of the kid and not to try "to make a friendship" if he does not respond/ or a bit shy. Talking about our kid: he loved the singer so much!!!! Live music was just marvelous, his voice is soooo amazing! On the way home our son was asking us whether we would listen to him again, that's so cute!!!!! The landscape changed: during the first time visit there were no so many breakwaters and the scenery was better at some island points, but unfortunately there is nothing you can do with the climate changes. One last thing: I really liked more white parasols and sun beds rather then blue ones (that a question of a taste, but as for me white/sand beige is more luxury) Thanks a lot for your hospitality! I would definitely recommend this resort for a stay on Maldives! Hope to see you again!"

"An amazing 5 star resort with excellent customer service throughout the resort. Rameez, our concierge, made us feel special and supported throughout our stay. The spa staff was simply superb and Pretty, my spa specialist, provided excellent service daily! Arun Dev helped me discover yoga and the huge benefits of getting flexibility again. He was amazing as well. We were spoiled by all of the staff and I cannot say enough about the staff and resort. I highly recommend anyone visiting the Maldives to stay Baglioni Maldives.
