Spread across a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve island in Baa Atoll — one of the most ecologically protected marine environments on earth — the Four Seasons Resort Maldives at Landaa Giraavaru has always had to justify its presence as much as announce it. Opened in 2006, the resort was designed with that tension at its center: 103 villas arranged across dense palm interior and over the lagoon, their thatched rooflines kept deliberately low within the canopy, the overwater structures extending along timber jetties in a configuration that follows the reef's natural geometry rather than imposing a grid upon it. From above, the island retains the silhouette of somewhere largely untouched. The interiors, refreshed in recent years with a palette that draws the lagoon's colour spectrum indoors, work in a register closer to a considered coastal residence than conventional resort design. Sheer canopied four-poster beds in blackened steel sit against navy wainscoting, the wall treatment anchoring rooms that might otherwise dissolve entirely into white and light. Woven rattan trunks at the bed foot, stone-cast bedside tables, and blue-striped dhurrie rugs ground the villas materially without heaviness. In the main restaurant, clusters of oversized black woven pendant lights hang from a white-painted pitched ceiling above wicker and teak dining chairs — a contrast that gives the open-sided pavilion an interior logic even as the Indian Ocean fills every sightline beyond the louvered shutters.

"Our second stay at Four Seasons Landaa Giraavaru, six years after our first, was every bit as magical as we remembered. From the moment we were greeted at the airport to our final departure, the experience was seamless. The staff here manages to be incredibly friendly and welcoming while maintaining the highest level of professionalism. The Warmest Welcome It was a joy to be welcomed back by Mr. Ayoub (Resort Manager), Mr. Nissley (Front Desk), and Mr. Mahardika (aka Dika), the head of Cafe Landaa. Being recognized and cared for in this way made us feel truly at home. The Villa Experience For this trip, we decided to spend our entire stay in a Sunset Water Villa. We were pleasantly surprised with an upgrade to a Sunset Family Water Villa for our return visit, which was absolutely excellent. The attention to detail started before we even arrived; we requested an adult floatie be placed in our villa, and they had it ready and waiting. A pro-tip for future guests: you can also ask for your snorkeling sets to be placed in your villa ahead of time so you are ready to hit the water immediately. Additionally, the housekeeping team did an impeccable job with both the morning service and the evening turndown. A Taste of Home: Incredible Indonesian Cuisine As Indonesians who have lived abroad for decades, we were blown away by the culinary efforts of the team. Mr. Dika, Chef Zaid, and Sous Chef Mr. Toljit went above and beyond to prepare authentic Indonesian dishes for us. The Bebek Betutu, Rendang, and Nasi Goreng Kampung were outstanding—we couldn’t believe we were eating such authentic flavors so far from home! Special thanks also to Ibu Rika, Bapak Agus for their wonderful service at Cafe Landaa, and to Pak Putra at Fuego Grill for making our final dinner so memorable. The Fuego Grill is a must try for guests! One of the best food we ever eaten. Tips: if you go for the half board, the Fuego Grill special menu is not included in the half board plan. Spa & Activities * Ayurma Spa: We tried the Landaa Massage and enjoyed it so much that we booked it a second time. It is a must-do for relaxation. * Dolphin Cruise: We highly recommend the morning session. It’s a fantastic experience for both adults and children (there are three sessions a week: two mornings and one afternoon). * Photography: We did a sunset session at 6:30 PM. A helpful tip for future guests: the resort follows "Dhaka Time" (one hour ahead of Male), so the sunset is around 6:50 PM. We paid a supplement (++USD 55) to capture the golden hour, and it was worth every penny. The photographer was professional and very accommodating. Final Verdict We chose to return to Landaa Giraavaru instead of trying a new resort because of the consistency and the people. We are so glad we did. We truly enjoyed every second of our second stay and hope to be back for many more!"

"We stayed at the Four Seasons Landaa Giraavaru March 22-29, 2026 to celebrate a birthday and retirement. We chose an over the water Sunset Villa (411) and included the Romance Package which consisted of a private Sunset Cruise, private Oceanside/Beach dinner and much more. Here is what I said in my Four Season’s Guest Survey. (I’ll leave it at that): “To Everyone, For many, the Maldives is only a dream. The Four Season’s Landaa Giraavaru, a dream made luxurious. Our compliment to you all is this - most will close their eyes only to imagine the beauty of such a place. Unaware that The Four Season’s Landaa Giraavaru is unimaginable in beauty, serenity, heartfelt kindness, attentiveness and expectations. It’s a magical place that has left us speechless. Thank you all for helping create that experience for us and God Bless each of you. Until the next time” * Highly Recommended"

"No resort will ever compete with FS Landaa. We had the most incredible wedding here, truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience with our friends and family. Months in advance, Jessica helped us organise absolutely everything and made the entire planning process completely seamless and perfect. Our ceremony on the wedding pavilion was absolutely beautiful, with every detail thoughtfully arranged. The ladies at the spa exceeded all my expectations of hair and makeup, so talented and caring. We also had the most magical private dining experience on Blu Beach and an unforgettable yacht day on Landaa Summer III. The rooms were beyond stunning and the food was exceptional — everything exceeded our expectations! What truly made this unforgettable, however, was the people. A very very special thank you to Francisco and his incredible team members, especially Rajesh, Abdulla, Junko and Rishmyn who each went above and beyond for us every single day. Their warmth, care and attention made us feel like family instantly, and we genuinely feel so sad to say goodbye. It’s so rare to meet a team that creates such a personal and memorable experience, and they completely blew us away!! No words. They are forever part of our memories and the best trip ever."

"We have no words to describe Four Seasons Landaa Giraavaru. This property is absolutely spectacular in all senses. The staff is amazing, the service is over the top, the resort itself is beautiful. Landaa was our last resort stay in a series of experiences for our Maldives trip. Wow. It was just amazing and we could not have planned it better. It does not matter that Landaa is not the newest resort in the Maldives. They have refined perfection here, in a way that only time and experience can allow. The villas are large and perfectly executed. Clean, well-appointed, large, comfortable. The island is beautifully manicured and natural, and marine life is the best you will find, and the service is, of course, Four Seasons high touch. Special thanks to Mohamed Ibrahim for making sure our stay was nothing short of spectacular. We day dream often of our time in Landaa and we are looking forward to returning. Just go! It's absolutely magical and difficult to describe. It has to be experienced."

"You're not supposed to arbitrarily change tried-and-tested life mottos. But our motto, "A year without Landaa is a lost year," is now being amended to "A year without two visits to Landaa is a lost year." In November 2025, we had the pleasure of thoroughly enjoying paradise in North Male Atoll for another time, and it was once again so incomparable that we immediately booked again for February 2026. And the good news: it was, as always, incomparable, perfect! We were welcomed at the (new) terminal at Male Airport, had a short stay in the seaplane lounge, and were greeted by many familiar, happy faces at the jetty. The magnificent overwater Villa 319. Eleven days of blue skies, every wish fulfilled, every encounter accompanied by a smile. Simply Landaa as we know and love it. Brand new: in the center of the island, a beautiful private garden area where fruit and vegetables are organically grown to supply the restaurants. In the tree, 7 meters up, is a platform where guests can be individually prepared with the garden's fruits, according to their wishes. Thanks so much for making these days onece more unforgettable Armando, Virginia, Ahmed Ayoub, Francisco, Nimo, Ahmed Mazim and Shaaz (especially for an incomparable Maledivian Dinner), Anandhu, Margarita, Felix, Bini, Rajesh, Mord, Kan, Budi, Davinder Sharma (for worlds best chicken tikka masala) - and Prasanna who kept 319 a wonderful and cosy „home“ day after day. Looking forward to seeing you all again soon!"
