PB hotel design editorial

Among the northernmost resort islands in the Maldives, deep within Haa Alifu Atoll where the Indian Ocean spreads wide and relatively few properties have staked a claim, Hideaway Beach Resort & Spa makes its most arresting argument from the air: a sinuous double-arm of overwater villas extending from the island's reef edge, their thatched roofs stepping out across turquoise shallows in a configuration closer to organic growth than resort planning. The aerial geometry is genuinely distinctive — the jetty curves and bifurcates rather than marching in the straight lines typical of Maldivian overwater developments, giving the 150-villa property a sprawl that feels less engineered than accumulated. Inside, the villas sustain a material language built around dark-stained hardwood flooring, exposed timber ceiling trusses, and louvered wood screens filtering lagoon light — a tropical vernacular that avoids pastiche by keeping the palette restrained: white walls, sand-toned upholstery, and the occasional accent of cobalt or terracotta. Vaulted cathedral ceilings lift each bedroom well beyond the expected scale, ceiling fans turning slowly beneath the apex. The main restaurant opens on wide folding glazed panels to a deck and infinity pool that dissolves toward the horizon at dusk, wicker dining chairs arranged on honey-toned hardwood in a room whose structural trusses give it the feeling of a generous, well-crafted boathouse rather than a hotel dining room.

Hideaway Beach Resort & Spa Reviews

"My stay at Hideaway Male was absolutely perfect, and I can’t recommend it highly enough. From start to finish, every part of the experience was wonderful, with top-tier service, amazing food, and a lovely dining atmosphere. A huge shoutout to AJMAJ, the manager here—his service was outstanding. He was thoughtful, attentive, and always ready to help with anything we needed, making our trip so much more enjoyable. The entire staff was friendly, polite, and professional; their warm attitude made us feel welcome the whole time. The food was delicious, with great variety and fresh flavors, and the dining environment was cozy and elegant. The payment process was smooth and hassle-free, which made everything even more convenient. This hotel truly goes above and beyond to make guests feel cared for. I had an incredible time and will definitely come back on my next trip to Maldives."

"This was our second stay at Hideaway Beach Resort & Spa, and it truly confirmed why we chose to come back. I would like to start by highlighting the excellent work of the Reservation Team, especially Amandeep. Everything was handled smoothly from the very beginning — from securing our preferred villa location to staying in constant contact when our flight was unexpectedly cancelled. Their support and responsiveness made a big difference even before our arrival. A very special thank you to our butler, Majeed, who took care of us during both of our stays. His attention to detail, professionalism, and genuine care made our experience seamless and very comfortable. Breakfast here is something special. Enjoying it just a few meters away from the turquoise ocean is simply breathtaking — what I like to call the “Maldivian TV.” Shahid and Ajmal made our mornings even better with their attentive service, remembering our preferences and anticipating our needs without us even having to ask. The spa experience was also outstanding. The Balinese massages were among the best we’ve ever had, and we would especially like to thank Susan and Esa for their professionalism and skill. The island itself is large, green, and very private. You can explore it by bike and often feel like you are alone, as you rarely see other guests. The level of privacy here is truly exceptional. The house reef is one of the best we’ve seen in the Maldives. Even from the water villa, you can observe marine life such as fish, rays, and sharks. The reef near Meeru restaurant is especially convenient, located just a few meters from the shore, making it perfect for easy access. We even saw turtles — an unforgettable experience. Finally, the level of personalized service stands out. Even when something wasn’t on the menu, the team was always happy to prepare it upon request — including fresh sashimi. This attention to detail is exactly why we returned for a second time… and will very likely come back again."

"We had a wonderful stay at Hideaway Beach Resort & Spa Maldives. The resort is located on a northern atoll, so it feels very secluded and peaceful. The island itself is beautiful and very natural. We chose the seaplane transfer and it was definitely worth it for the amazing views. Our Ocean Villa with Pool was huge and very private. I especially enjoyed the glass floor in the living room, watching fish swim underneath early in the morning was surprisingly fun. You can snorkel directly from the villa, but the real highlight is the house reef on the other side of the island. The snorkeling there was incredible. Getting around is easy with bikes or buggy service. Our butler, Shahin, was excellent and helped arrange everything we needed. Service at the restaurants was also great. Overall a fantastic stay and I would highly recommend it for anyone looking for a peaceful Maldives escape with great snorkeling."

"One of the biggest highlights of our resort trip was the incredible experience at the Meeru Bar. The staff, ambience, food, and overall atmosphere made it a truly memorable part of our stay. The team there was outstanding—especially the bar manager Chamila, along with Chirag, Prem, Rahul, and Ram—who all went above and beyond to make our time special. Their warm hospitality and engaging conversations added a personal touch that made every visit enjoyable. Thanks to them, the Meeru Bar became one of the most memorable highlights of our entire resort experience; besides our butler, Mira; who guided us to enjoy our trip with to the fullest!."
