"Wonderful stay with exceptional service We had a fantastic week at Taj Coral Reef Maldives and would happily return. Overall, I’d rate our stay 4.5/5. Our water villa was a real highlight, and the friendly, attentive staff made the experience particularly special. The catering team and chefs were amazing, with great food and service throughout our stay. The resort manager (Karan) was also visible and involved on many occasions, which made us feel genuinely welcome rather than just being another guest. The gym was very good, especially useful during the occasional spells of rain. We also have to give a special mention to Mohamed at the bar, who made what was probably the best Irish coffee we’ve ever had! The team at the watersports centre also deserve a big shout-out. Ranil was incredibly helpful in organising our tortoise and coral snorkelling excursion. He even took the time to clean our personal snorkel goggles to stop them fogging up — a small gesture, but one that perfectly sums up the level of service we experienced. And a special thank you to the boys who took us out to sea; their friendly, helpful attitude made the trip even more enjoyable. There were a couple of minor negatives. Despite completing the online check-in before arrival, we still had to read and initial a large number of paper documents on arrival, which felt a little unnecessary and made the check-in process longer than it needed to be. We also found the resort’s policy of allowing just one complimentary 20-minute kayak ride during a one-week stay rather restrictive, particularly at a resort where water activities are such an important part of the experience. Unfortunately, our air conditioning stopped working on the day before the end of our holiday, so we had to move to another water villa. However, the resort arranged a new villa for us within a few hours, which was handled efficiently and helped minimise the disruption. That said, these were relatively small issues compared with the many positives. The combination of the beautiful setting, water villa, excellent food and, above all, the genuinely friendly staff made this a memorable holiday. The photo shoot (by Laalu) was a lot of fun. Karan's help with our onwards transfer was a very nice touch!"

"First in a lifetime experience at the Taj Coral Reef - Beautiful Resort - Friendly staff helpful with food, cleaning service and much more. From the moment we arrived, being welcomed by friendly staff and rhythmic drum beats to the moment we departed, being bid farewell with a big 'we will miss you' banner, the whole experience at Taj was nothing less than hospitable. Particularly grateful to Trishna, Zaki, Oli, Hussain, Nadeem and Lupin for their service as they went above and beyond in their care. Thank you so much to Akhuyarr for providing an excellent videography service. We are very pleased with the experience. The stay was a relaxing getaway full of fun! The beach villa we stayed at was beautiful but the water villa was next level - had so much fun swimming in the sea with the family in our own privacy while snorkelling and seeing the colourful range of sea life. There were a range of water sport activities available which added to the fun - however if I were to suggest one small improvement it would be to slightly better the hygiene of the equipment between uses - however overall it was quite okay. It was my birthday when we moved into the water villa from the beach villa. We found the room beautifully decorated and a cake presented beautifully too - this was such a thoughtful touch and made our stay even more wonderful. Thank you so much to Karan for arranging this and making sure our stay was comfortable and just perfect. We really enjoyed this trip and are grateful for your care and service."

"We had an excellent experience staying here for a large joint family gathering. The young adults had plenty of music, dance, water activities, beach and pool to enjoy. The older members of the family in their 80's had very good care, attention and support. They even enjoyed a trip to the sea on the sunset cruise and the submarine boat. The in-between mature adults enjoyed both sets of activities and hosting everyone with the excellent support of the Taj Hotel staff. Their attention to detail, care and their hospitality was excellent. Would thoroughly recommend for those who are thinking of Maldives as a destination."

"Our experience at Taj Coral Reef Resort & Spa Maldives fell far below what we expected from a property of this category and, above all, from a brand such as Taj. The resort enjoys a privileged setting, as do so many places in the Maldives, and its staff generally make a genuine effort to look after guests. However, the property clearly shows its age and is in need of significant renovation. The facilities and a number of details fall well short of what one would reasonably expect given its category and price. The gastronomy was another major disappointment. We found the food mediocre in terms of variety, quality and execution, particularly considering the positioning of the resort and the expectations associated with a stay at this level. Above all, however, our greatest disappointment was the management of the resort and, in particular, the performance and attitude of its manager. Problems can arise at any hotel, and very often the difference between a negative experience and a satisfactory outcome lies precisely in how management responds to them. In our case, the opposite happened: we found a lack of genuine listening, empathy towards the guest, a real willingness to resolve the issues raised, and an attitude consistent with the responsibility of managing a property of this category. This is particularly striking because it contrasts with the positive attitude and willingness to help shown by many members of staff, who do their best to provide guests with good service. In our experience, the main problem lies not so much with the staff, but with the management and the service culture that should be driven from the top. After our stay, we are left with the impression of a resort in an extraordinary location and with obvious potential, but one that requires renewal not only of its facilities and gastronomic offering, but, most importantly, of its management and its approach to guest service. A disappointing experience, and one that fell far short of what we expected from the Taj brand."
