"Recently stayed in the Junior Suite (Room 404) for 2 nights and overall, I genuinely enjoyed my experience. From the moment we arrived, the hotel already gave a more elevated and luxurious feeling compared to many local hotels in Malta. The location was easy to find, staff greeted us warmly and professionally, and I especially appreciated the thoughtful welcome with herbal tea and warm towels, a very elegant touch that immediately set the tone.
Parking was manageable despite nearby construction works, and thankfully we found a space easily enough. Check in itself was pleasant, although there was a small interruption during the process where another guest issue was prioritised midway through our conversation. The room also took a little longer than expected to be ready, around 15 to 20 minutes total waiting time, which initially made me slightly concerned about whether everything had been fully prepared beforehand.
That said, once we entered the room, the first impression was beautiful. The Junior Suite itself was aesthetically stunning, spacious, private and peaceful. I absolutely loved the warm country chic minimalist style throughout the hotel. The terrace was one of my favourite parts, very relaxing, private, and with almost no noise disturbance from surrounding rooms.
One thing I also appreciated is the location itself. Although the hotel feels very quiet, private and tucked away from busy areas, it is still only around a 10 minute walk from two of Malta’s most beautiful and well known historical areas, Mdina and Rabat. This makes it ideal for guests who want both relaxation and the opportunity to explore nearby culture, cafés and sightseeing while still returning to a peaceful environment with spectacular views.
Another feature that genuinely stood out to me was “The Nook” available on Level 4. I am not sure whether this concept is available on other floors as well, however for our floor it was such a thoughtful and welcoming additional space. It felt warm, private and very versatile. I think it is ideal especially for guests staying with more than one person who may occasionally want a little personal space away from the room itself, whether for work, online meetings, relaxing, dining privately or simply changing environment without leaving the floor.
The area included a small kitchenette, dining table, comfortable living area and even an outdoor space, which made it feel almost like an extension of the suite itself. I also appreciated that access remained private through the room and floor code system. It is honestly a lovely concept that not many hotels seem to offer, and it added a very cosy and elevated touch to the overall experience.
Cleanliness overall was very good, and room service exceeded expectations. Food arrived quickly, was fresh and high quality, and every staff member we encountered was kind and professional. The breakfast selection was also impressive, especially for guests who enjoy a healthier or more organic lifestyle. I would perhaps appreciate slightly more variety in the hot section for guests coming from different cultural backgrounds, but overall the breakfast experience was lovely.
One thing I would improve is the scent inside the room upon arrival. Because the hotel is located in a more rural area, there was a slight farm like smell mixed with older wooden furniture notes. Personally, I think introducing a subtle signature scent or freshener before guest arrival would elevate the room experience even further.
The minibar itself was nicely stocked with waters and healthier, more organic style products, which I appreciated. However, I personally would have liked one or two more standard drink options as well. Thankfully, there is also a convenience store located only a short walk away from the hotel, which was extremely convenient for late night snacks, drinks or any necessities guests may need during their stay.
Unfortunately, the main disappointment during the stay was the jacuzzi. Considering the Junior Suite cost around €902 for two nights, I expected the jacuzzi to be fully functional and perfectly clean upon arrival. The temperature only reached around 33°C despite being advertised to go higher, and it took almost an entire day to properly warm up. Thankfully the weather during our stay was warm enough to still enjoy it comfortably.
However, what concerned me more was the cleanliness of the jacuzzi itself. The water appeared slightly discoloured and there was a sand like residue texture underneath, along with visible buildup around certain filter areas. For a luxury suite at this price point, I do believe more attention should be given to ensuring the jacuzzi is thoroughly cleaned and checked between guests.
As an aesthetician myself who has worked within spa environments and luxury hotels, I was also interested in trying the spa facilities. While I fully understand luxury pricing structures, I personally found some treatments excessively priced for Malta’s local market. For example, certain facials priced around €230 felt difficult to justify when comparable or even higher quality treatments are available locally for significantly less. I would have genuinely loved to experience the spa, but the pricing unfortunately discouraged me from booking treatments during this stay.
I also think it is worth mentioning that, at least specifically for Room 404, guests with mobility difficulties may find certain areas challenging. The bath setup and overall bathroom layout did not appear particularly wheelchair friendly or fully adapted for those requiring additional mobility support. The shower itself was spacious, however there were no visible support handles or accessibility features that some guests may require. The hotel may very well offer more suitable accessible rooms elsewhere, but I feel this is still useful information for future guests considering this particular suite.
Despite these points, I still truly enjoyed the experience overall and would absolutely return again. The hotel atmosphere is beautiful, calming and luxurious, the staff are welcoming, and the overall aesthetic and comfort level are genuinely impressive. I do think there are a few areas that could be refined to better match the luxury price tag, particularly regarding jacuzzi maintenance, accessibility considerations and certain spa pricing structures.
Would I recommend it? Yes. Would I return? Definitely, perhaps even to try one of the standard rooms next time for a different experience.
Overall, a beautiful stay with a few improvements that could easily take the experience from very good to exceptional."
