At the foot of Le Morne Brabant — the UNESCO World Heritage basalt monolith that rises some 556 metres from Mauritius's southwestern peninsula — the JW Marriott Mauritius Resort commands one of the Indian Ocean's most geographically charged settings, the mountain's sheer cliffs dropping almost directly behind the property's slate-roofed pavilions. The low-rise massing, with its white-painted colonnades, louvered shutters, and steeply pitched rooflines, draws from the Franco-Mauritian plantation vernacular — colonial architecture filtered through a contemporary resort lens, kept deliberately horizontal so as not to compete with the escarpment overhead. Across its 178 suites, the interiors balance two registers: rooms with panelled teak four-poster beds, tongue-and-groove timber ceilings, wicker side tables, and black-and-white photography of the island's fishing culture sit alongside lighter, more contemporary configurations with exposed rafter ceilings, pale tile floors, louvred balcony doors, and teak shelving units opening directly toward the lagoon. The beach restaurant makes the more architectural argument — rough-hewn timber columns and unfinished rafters assembled into an open-sided structure with the atmosphere of a repurposed fishing warehouse, local basalt stone walls anchoring the perimeter while the deck planking dissolves into the sand. An elongated infinity pool terrace steps toward the beach through a sequence of cabana-lined terraces, the geometry interrupted by planted islands of palm and pandanus. Taken together, the resort holds the tension between colonial memory and contemporary comfort more honestly than most properties in this corner of Mauritius.

"This was our 4th time visiting the hotel and we had a fabulous stay once again - it really is a special place. The setting, facilities and service are all first class. A few special mentions to those who made our stay so wonderful. We were celebrating our engagement and Archi from the Butler team went above and beyond to make our trip feel that extra bit special. Ravi was also on hand to make sure that we had everything we needed. The food on offer is exquisite - we had exceptional meals at Indya with great service from restaurant manager Ashynka and Keshav and the Beachouse where we were looked after by Adarsh and Piruven. The breakfast buffet is divine and the team of Jennifer, Istika, Reena and Lucinda looked after us each day. We spent many an hour enjoying the various facilities the hotel has to offer with a relaxing treatment at the serene spa, enjoying the beach where Yash, Kervin and Vicky were very attentive, and excellent evening cocktails courtesy of of Manish. And finally Crista in housekeeping who took such care of our room. Overall, a big thank you to the Archi and the whole St Regis Le Morne team for another amazing holiday and we look forward to returning soon!"

"the hotel is amazing. Sea, rooms, services, the food, everything. What makes it truly special is the personnel, every room has is personal butler. We had Shamira, she is amazing, help us with everything, can't recommend her more. thank you so much! just a couple of suggestions for the hotel: the water center is not great, the water ski was poorly managed."

"Our stay at The St. Regis Mauritius was, without a doubt, the best experience we have ever had. From the moment we arrived, everything was simply perfect. The hotel offers an incredible variety of activities, so much so that we barely felt the need to leave the property at all. Every day was filled with memorable experiences, all within this stunning and beautifully maintained resort. What truly made our stay exceptional, however, was the staff. Every single team member we encountered was warm, attentive, and genuinely dedicated to making our stay unforgettable. A very special thank you goes to Pravesh and Zahraa, who went above and beyond for us. Even before we arrived, they took care of booking all the activities we wanted, ensuring everything was perfectly planned and stress-free. Our visit was also for my partner’s birthday, and the way the team handled it was extraordinary. They made sure every detail was thoughtfully prepared, and it felt like the entire hotel was part of the celebration. It was incredibly special and something we will never forget. We were also very impressed by how immaculate the hotel is. The cleanliness, combined with the outstanding level of service and attention to detail, truly elevated the entire experience. This trip meant so much to us that we’ve already promised ourselves we will return—especially in the future with our kids, as the resort is clearly very family-friendly and welcoming for all ages. The St. Regis Mauritius is not just a hotel—it’s an experience. We cannot wait to come back."
