PB hotel design editorial

Bahia Chileno is one of the few protected coves along the Corridor between Cabo San Lucas and San José del Cabo, its calm turquoise water flanked by desert scrub and volcanic rock — a setting that demanded architecture with enough restraint to avoid overwhelming what drew people here in the first place. Chileno Bay Resort & Residences, part of the Auberge Resorts Collection and opened in 2017, was designed with low-rise terraced pavilions that step down toward the beach in a rhythm calibrated to the slope of the hillside. The massing, visible in the images, combines cantilevered concrete overhangs, horizontal timber louvers in what appears to be teak or a comparable hardwood, and cladding in warm travertine-toned stone — a material palette that borrows from Baja's desert geology without resorting to folkloric pastiche. Inside, the interiors move between two registers. The upper-category suites feature walnut-toned tongue-and-groove ceiling panels, full-width glazed walls that dissolve the boundary between bedroom and terrace, and stone-clad outdoor soaking tubs oriented directly toward the Sea of Cortez — the whole arrangement feeling closer to a well-appointed private residence than a resort room. Standard accommodation takes a warmer, earthier approach: travertine-tiled floors, leather-upholstered headboards in chocolate brown, woven-frame mirrors, and blue zellige-tiled bathrooms that introduce a subtle regional note. The infinity pool deck, lined with draped white cabanas and teak-framed loungers, extends the property's consistent grammar of pale stone, warm wood, and open sky.

About

Nestled along a protected cove, the most desirable beach in Los Cabos has long been known for its tranquil, swimmable waters and pristine coral reefs, where a short venture out to sea unveils a hidden underwater world of tropical fish and sea turtles. Chileno Bay was created with a distinct vision to bring a contemporary take on the classic Baja escape with an airy, open aesthetic that blurs the line between indoor and outdoor with private terraces in each guest room.

"Chileno Bay will keep us coming back every year at least. The staff makes you feel like family. TNT for the best food and cool vibes. H20 for the best beach experience you can find!"

"I have been to many of the five star hotels in Cabo and I believe this hotel should be seven stars and not five stars. Extremely classy establishment, and you feel the aura in the air. Jaime The manager goes above and beyond to accommodate every request with a smile. All the staff are extremely pleasant and professional . The rooms are very spacious and beautifully finished. I am in construction so I can always tell when Hotels cut corners and cheap out, but this is not the case here. Everything is done meticulously. The food by the pool was great and their drinks are outstanding. All in all, it was a wonderful experience. I was just there a week ago and I’m planning a trip back next month. It is a true escape and a home away from home. For the first time I have absolutely no negative comments to say. All in all, this is a high-end high Class establishment and I wish them all the best"

"An absolute must experience for your next trip to Los Cabos. Nothing will prepare you for the service, food and experience. The entire staff went out of their way to make you feel comfortable at every turn. Great for business, pleasure, families or a romantic get away. The entire team at The Chileno Bay Resort are amazing....well worth every penny....would not go anywhere else after staying here."

"We stayed in a 3 bedroom villa with our 3 kids (5, 3, and 1) and it was amazing! The pool was great for kids. The employees were so friendly. They all were extremely attentive and kind. My 5 year old loved kids club and wanted to go back every day. The day we left they gave us little bags for each kiddo with a tie dye t shirt, some mexican candies, and toys. Also for the moms : The cribs are not the measly little pack n plays they are legit cribs (but I would still bring a crib sheet because they only had a flat sheet). They have stokke trip trap chairs at the restaurants! Amazing if you have a kid that likes to push away from the table! They provided a diaper pail, a baby bathtub, and a video baby monitor for us to use during our stay. They had a high chair in the room for us and baby toiletries in the bathroom. They had extra toys and floats at the pools. There was a long stool under the bathroom sink so my 3yo could reach. They provided bed rails for my 3yo as well! Overall amazing stay! I did walk by the teen club a few times and nobody was in it, but this place was perfect for my kiddos ages! The beach had fish you could see in the water without sticking your head under... altho the water was a little rough when we went (they said early AM is better)."
