PB hotel design editorial

White stucco cascading down a Baja hillside toward the Sea of Cortez, its silhouette broken by palapa roofs woven from dried zacate grass and colonnaded terraces that blur the boundary between interior and desert air — this is the architectural grammar of Las Ventanas al Paraíso, the Rosewood resort that opened at Cabo Real in 1997 and established a template for Mexican coastal luxury that subsequent properties spent decades trying to decode. Architect Miguel Angel Aragonés and the design team drew from the vernacular traditions of colonial Mexico rather than the generic resort idiom then dominant in Los Cabos, producing low-lying whitewashed volumes threaded with handcrafted ironwork lanterns, carved wood beams, and mosaic tilework sourced from Talavera artisans in Puebla. The 71 suites and villas carry that craft vocabulary into every surface: sculpted pebble-mosaic headboards in arched silhouettes evoke Moorish-inflected Mexican ecclesiastical carving, hand-embroidered otomi textile bed runners introduce folkloric blues against white cotton, and hand-polished concrete floors absorb the warm light thrown by the rounded adobe fireplaces visible in the terrace suites. The restaurant, set beneath barrel-vaulted ceilings of pale plaster, deploys a weathered driftwood tree strung with cage lanterns as its centrepiece — a piece of environmental sculpture that gives the amber-lit dining room the atmosphere of a hacienda chapel. The freeform infinity pool, flanked by bleached driftwood trees and white sunbeds, dissolves the property's edge against the Pacific horizon.

"First visit for us on good friends recommendation . We have been to many hotels in Cabo and i think we have found our new favorite. We booked an Villa for the week and there were zero disappointments. In fact we only left the property, and our room a handful of times and you could easily just stay here the entire time as it had everything you could need and ever want. The villa experience is something you just need to experience first hand. We had a dedicated team member assigned th whole tome and he was fantastic. Whatever you need whenever you want, think it and he can make it happen. The villa itself was magnificent. the outdoor shower was surprisingly amongst my favorite features. Our villa had a pool, and a beautiful outdoor, private area. we even had a sound system we connect to. Bed was heavily, furnishings uniquely local and comfortable. We dined at all onsite locations and not a disappointment anywhere. Alebrije was probably our favorite. The seagull a close second for just casual, The tea and sushi bar was a great lunch spot, Nad breakfast in both locations fantastic. Thank you team for a very relaxing and decadent stay."

"we own a unit at the resort and have say the quality of the dining experiences have declined to the point we will never go back after this last visit to seagrill... we came in late and decided to give it a try shared a starter and the catch of the day ... very very disappointing and incredibly expensive ... US$240!!! the only one that has a decent meal is Arbol but also incredibly expensive we dined at other very good restaurants in the area like Carbon Cabron, Lumbre, Talley and they were a fraction of the cost and way better"

"This was our first time at Las Ventanas. We had stayed at the Waldorf Astoria a number of times and decided to try Las Ventanas. When we arrived my wife was skeptical. In about an hour, her entire view changed. The property is spotless but the staff makes the resort. Skinny Carlos at the pool... A++, Fernando and Luis at the Pool were A++... everyone at the pool was so attentive and made sure we were well taken care of. I cant say enough positive about them. Silvino and Luis were our butlers. Silvino has been doing this a long time and it shows. Silvino was always checking in with us, walked us to dinner the first night since we didnt know where we were going, took shopping bags to our room when we had them at the pool, and most of all, just a genuinely nice man who i could have talked with for hours. Super human who was there for us the entire stay and made it special for us. Luis checked us in and out. What a nice guy. As we were leaving, we needed a large bag to carry all of our hats that we bought. He sprinted to get us a bag and met us at the exit. Poor guy was sweating as he came back but shows how much he wanted to ensure we were taken care of until the moment we left. I appreciated so much what everyone did to make our stay special. One last one was Angel, who was our waiter at Alebrije. My wife asked for a Caesar salad which wasnt on the menu. Not only did he accommodate the request, he brought all of he ingredients tableside and made it at our table. What a fantastic experience. Henries at the airport was also so kind and helpful. He has a genuine smile and made us feel at home when we arrived and took us through security to ensure we were all good leaving. The staff is an asset to the resort and made our stay incredibly special. We cant wait to come back and see them again. Needless to say, we will be staying here next time we are in Cabo and they made us unable to go anywhere else. Arbol and Alebrije are both wonderful (food everywhere on the resort is incredible). and if you go, La Botica is a must. We had so much fun there and its worth the hype. Thanks Las Ventanas for making our little trip one we wont forget."

"Just returned from Las Ventanas al Paraiso in Cabo, sixth stay, was a very happy, er, camper. Oceanview rooftop terrace in bldg 700. Get a stress relief massage in the spa with Sandra, she is skilled! Suite includes hot tub so more stress relief there. The unforced kindness here is a blessing especially valued by this older woman traveling solo. Ocean breezes were delightful. Yes it was sunny and hot but did not get up into the nineties so worked well for me. Many food options naturally but when I go to Mexico I don’t want Japanese, Italian or Indian cuisine. I want, and enjoyed huevos rancheros, chilaquiles, nachos, guacamole, tacos, grilled fish, bistec, tres leches and flan. And endless pots of Mexican Hot Chocolate. Plus the occasional pitcher of sangria. Lately I’d been blissing out at Rosewood Kona Village on the Big Island but rates there and flight cost from SFO induced me to look at Las Ventanas which is more attractive both in rates and cost of flights (also faster). Turned out perfectly, return for another sojourn in July."
