PB hotel design editorial

Carved into the face of El Pedregal, the dramatic granite outcropping that drops sheer into the Pacific at the tip of the Baja peninsula, this property was originally accessible only through a private tunnel bored directly through the rock — an entrance that still sets it apart from every other address in Cabo San Lucas. The Waldorf Astoria Los Cabos Pedregal, which counts 115 casitas and villas spread across the cliff face, was designed to follow the mountain's natural topography rather than flatten it, with low-rise structures in sand-colored stucco and locally quarried stone stepping down toward the water in a rhythm that echoes traditional Mexican coastal vernacular. Inside, the interiors work a vocabulary rooted in Mexican craft traditions: exposed log vigas crossing bedroom ceilings, travertine floors worn smooth underfoot, and headboards fashioned from carved and assembled driftwood that carry the feeling of found objects elevated into something deliberate. Talavera-inspired painted columns appear as decorative accents in the suites, while woven palm-frond palapa roofs shelter the bar terraces, their organic canopies strung with hand-blown glass lanterns and wrought-iron chandeliers. The pool terrace at dusk — white mosaic platforms floating candle lanterns across still water, the Sea of Cortez dissolving into the horizon behind — demonstrates how completely the design team understood that this landscape was the main event, and that architecture's job here was simply to frame it without competing.

"My wife and I just returned from a 3 day stay in paradise, celebrating our belated anniversary. What an amazing time at the Waldorf Pedregal. Before our arrival, our personal concierge, Fabian, reached out and asking if anything was needed for our upcoming stay. His communication and willingness to accommodate any request set the tone for the entire trip. Upon arrival, we were welcomed by Fabian and David, who handled our room preferences, luggage, and even a room upgrade. We highly recommend taking advantage of the concierge service as well. Whether it’s securing dinner reservations in Cabo, planning excursions, or coordinating special experiences, the concierge can help. The best part of our trip was a private sunset yacht cruise, arranged by Fabian - absolutely breathtaking and unforgettable. Highly Recommend! What continues to set this property apart is the Waldorf team. We’ve visited multiple times over the years, it’s amazing how team members like Louis and Alberto not only remain part of the experience but remembered us, even after long gaps between our visits. I will say we were a little shocked with the change from the authentic Waldorf branded Clase Azul bottles and replaced with another tequila, no branding. We always enjoyed taking this back to showcase in our house. The other feedback is regarding the amount of snacks and wine displayed in the ‘mini-bar’ area. For the price and luxury of these rooms, I felt this was “too” much of a pushed upsell. Last note, while glass should never be allowed at the pool, they provide glass water bottles. I didn’t think anything about it, until we walked from our room with a glass cup, they poured it into a plastic cup, then handed us a ‘glass’ water bottle. The property continues to impress, even more with the recent renovations. Thanks Waldrof team. Gracias! The Scherenberg’s"

"We visited the WA Pedregal in Feb 2026- for a birthday trip. We have stayed at this resort a few times prior and the service is consistent every single time! It's a beautiful property and our favorite time to visit is when the whales are in town. What an incredible thing to be eating breakfast watching whales breech, splash, and play! This time, I had the opportunity to experience the spa for the first time! It is truly an immersive experience and plan to spend all day there to enjoy all the benefits that come with your massage. There is a steam room, ice room, hot tub, and a beautiful pool and private terrace you can enjoy. I want to mention a handful of people by name as they truly made an exceptional visit. Dora gave such an incredible massage and highly recommend her! Daniel, Victor, Rodolpho, Mitchell, Joel, & Reggie were our servers for breakfast and lunch and their attentiveness to detail, kindness, and professionalism were outstanding. We enjoyed getting to know them and see a handful of friendly faces when we returned. Additionally, shout out to Rey who was our concierge and checked in on us to ensure everything was going well helped us book an incredible taco cooking class! He is a very kind, attentive, and goes above and beyond! Also, Anna checked us both in and out and was so kind, welcoming, and helped start out and end another exceptional visit to WA Pedregal. The property location and service are exceptional and we were so grateful for such an incredible return trip! Thank you!"

"This location can’t be beat. The room has the most amazing view from the balcony and we were able to spit over 20 whales just lounging in our balcony’s pool. The staff all went above and beyond to make our stay so special, Marcos picked us up and drove us to the resort from the airport ensuring a safe and comfortable transport without any stress. Fransisco and our concierge team coordinated all of our plans ensuring a seamless memorable stay. We were celebrating our 15th wedding anniversary and the room service with the daily guacamole and chips with Coronas as well as the nightly turn down service was so appreciated and such a nice touch. We loved our spa services (one of the best spas I have had the pleasure of enjoying). The coffee lab is a must probably serves the best coffee in all of Cabo. The resort is centrally located and an easy walk into town. We will definitely be back."

"I went to Cabo for a belated anniversary trip in March and decided (since it’s our first time in Cabo) to stay at WA Los Cabos! Even prior to being there, we were reached out to by our personal concierge and I had the privilege to have Fabian as my concierge. He was great at responding and recommending tours/excursions which you should definitely do if you have time and money. I wish I had more time to talk and give him a tip he deserved but unfortunately our ride came so we had to leave. I wanted to give a shout out to Fabian and team (!!!) for being so amazing, accommodating, and just overall, so great. I don’t know if you can request for a personal concierge but ask for Fabian! So my favorite part of this trip was the great service from every single hotel worker! They always greeted you as you pass by, concierge was always super quick with replies and assistance (for example I needed someone to help with my luggage and in less than 5 minutes, someone came!!) Another example was I didn’t drink beer so I asked if I could get hibiscus water instead they included that for our daily guac/chips + coronas service. The service extended to every guest I saw and everyone went above and beyond! The complimentary amenities were a nice treat I.e. beach bag, toiletry bag, honey bubble bath, guac/chips/coronas, goodbye turtle cookies and water, and I enjoyed the complimentary diamond member breakfast as well. As for tours, I recommend the private ones! We did Xanadu this time and it was beautiful - waterfalls, hot springs, so much fun, good food, great tour guide Jorge, highly recommend! I rarely leave reviews but just wanted to give an overall shoutout to those I’ve encountered: thank you Reggie (sir, it seems like you’re everywhere at every restaurant and your service, smile, and warmth extends to everyone you meet), thank you Jesus/Diego/Roberto at Travesia dinning experience, thank you to Martin and his partner, thank you again Fabian, and thank you to all staff whose name I may have forgotten (sorry)!"

"This was our 4th stay at the resort, and our 6th trip to Cabo. Needless to say, we love it here. Our last stay was in 2020, and since then they have been undergoing an extensive renovation of the property, finished in late 2025. The rooms have the same beautiful layout and furnishings, with an updated color scheme. The staff could not be any more friendly or helpful. We visited the spa ( a must during a stay here) and it is beautiful with access to the private spa pool for the day. The food is wonderful, and we loved the separate coffee shop for a quick coffee and pastry. We have done excursions in the past, but this trip we needed the rest and never left the peaceful property the entire stay. (The last stay here in 2020 we noticed some noise from a neighboring resort, but this is no longer an issue as it changed ownership.) The private balcony and plunge pool is worth it. We were able to watch whales from our room, and beautiful sunsets. In short, the Waldorf delivers on every level."
