PB hotel design editorial

Campos Elíseos street in Polanco takes its name from the Champs-Élysées, a piece of Mexico City's long-standing romance with French urban planning, and it's fitting that the building housing Campos Polanco was itself conceived in that spirit — a 1940s Art Deco residential block whose curved, chamfered facades and continuous ribbon windows carry the optimism of mid-century modernism with genuine conviction. All Arquitectura's 2022 rehabilitation preserved that exterior language while inserting all the operational infrastructure of a 12-suite boutique hotel across two adjacent volumes: the original residential wing, now restored, and a new administrative building set behind it. The interiors, by Amass & G with hospitality concept by AvroKO Hospitality Group, move between warm darkness and green abundance. Brass fittings, solid walnut joinery, and terrazzo surfaces give the common areas a material richness that feels earned by the building's bones, while the courtyard — lined in terracotta brick, planted floor-to-ceiling with climbing vines, and lit by tall arched iron lanterns — provides the emotional center of the property. Guest rooms carry illustrated wallpapers in a graphic Mexican folk idiom alongside deep-buttoned headboards and private planted terraces, and the overall effect is of a house belonging to someone with a serious eye for craft and a well-traveled collecting habit. For a hotel of only twelve suites, it carries its ambitions lightly.

Campos Polanco Reviews

"We recently stayed at The Campos in Polanco as a family of four, and we honestly cannot say enough good things about this place. From the moment we arrived, it was clear this boutique hotel operates on a completely different level. The location is unbeatable — Polanco has so much to offer, and having everything within easy reach made exploring the city effortless. But the real star of the show is the SERVICE. It is truly unmatched. The staff anticipated our every need, and the level of thoughtfulness baked into every interaction made us feel like the most valued guests. Breakfast was an absolute delight — beautifully prepared and a wonderful way to start each day. The rooms are exquisitely designed, with every single detail carefully considered. You can tell real thought and love went into curating this space. What really set it apart for us as a family: the kids were welcomed so warmly and the staff were genuinely hospitable with them. Each floor has its own lovely lounge area, and the rooftop is simply stunning. One of our favorite little touches? The moment you head out for the day, someone comes up to refresh your room — it’s that kind of effortless, attentive service that you just don’t find everywhere. If you’re visiting Mexico City, stop searching and book The Campos. It has ruined all other hotels for us. We will absolutely be back."

"Perfect location, beautiful room, excellent discreet service. We stayed at Campos in early March. We were upgraded to the one bedroom suite. The room was beautiful, like being in a luxury city apartment. We will definitely be back."

"Loved this hotel. The location in Polanco was absolutely perfect for exploring Mexico City. We chose the larger room and, while it was an added expense, it was well worth it for the extra space and peaceful retreat after long days of touring the city. The food was very good, especially the breakfast. But what truly makes this hotel stand out is the exceptional service. Special thanks to Alex, Janet, Luis, and the lovely young woman at breakfast who greeted us each morning with warm smiles and our lattes already underway. Their hospitality made our stay feel genuinely special."

"We’ve stayed at many outstanding hotels over our lifetime and I can say that Campos Polanco is one of my favorites. It has the unique, personal feel of a boutique hotel while also maintaining premiere service. I believe service particularly shines when things go sideways, as happened when my husband got food poisoning. They immediately offered to page their doctor and the woman at the front desk (unfortunately did not catch her name) organized an uber delivery of chicken broth. Before the trip, they made reservations for us at Pujol, Contramar and Quintonil, which seemed impossible to do on our own or staying in an Airbnb. It’s usually hard for me to sleep in other places, but the bed was perfect for me and the shower had amazing water pressure. I also loved how you could fully open the window to cool the room at night. It’s a nicely designed room with a little foyer splitting the room between the bedroom and bathroom. The location was also excellent for walking to their largest park and various museums. I also loved walking the esplanade in Polanco and going to a few stores in the area. Xinu is an experience that you must see even if you don’t buy anything and Lagos has fun LATAM clothing. It’s a long walk from Condesa/Roma Norte, which has tons of cafes, stores and restaurants, but their car will take you to those neighborhoods for free if preferred and available. Finally, we so enjoyed their breakfast (I had the special every day except one) and talking to Luis, the chef, during their evening snacks and tequila tasting. If you’re too tired to go out after arriving, I’d honestly just order from the small menu for room service."

"We had an incredible stay at Campos Polanco! We met up with several friends there, and it was perfect for our group. We took advantage of all the shared spaces, and the staff went above and beyond to accommodate our needs. Breakfasts were my personal favorite. We were greeted with our favorite coffees, and the breakfast attendant set up the patio for our group every morning (plus the dish of the day was always amazing!). We also thoroughly enjoyed mezcal on the rooftop and playing games in the lounge. Our rooms were gorgeous and comfortable. We accidentally left a shirt in our room after checking out, and the front desk immediately texted me to arrange its return. So thoughtful!"
