PB hotel design editorial

Where the Sierra Madre meets the Pacific at Punta de Mita, one of Mexico's last undeveloped stretches of Nayarit coastline provided the site for Conrad Punta de Mita — a low-rise resort that earns its footprint by spreading horizontally rather than asserting itself vertically against the jungle backdrop. The property's white-rendered blocks, no taller than four storeys, step back from a broad crescent of beach in a configuration that keeps the mountain ridgeline visible from nearly every angle, a restraint that reads clearly in the aerial view as deliberate planning rather than accident. The interiors take their cues from the palette immediately outside: warm tawny wood headboards in a herringbone pattern, large-format pale stone tile underfoot, and accent textiles in Pacific blue and burnt amber that shift register between rooms without abandoning the same coastal grammar. Woven rattan chairs on deep balconies open to unobstructed ocean sightlines, while the beach club — teak tables set directly on sand beneath tensile canvas shade sails strung with warm Edison bulbs — gives the property its most atmospheric moment, the Pacific framed by a colonnade of coconut palms whose trunks recede toward the horizon. The freeform pool system meanders through planted grounds toward the water's edge, terminating in an infinity edge that dissolves the boundary between fresh and salt water at the property's quieter, more private southern end.

"We stayed at Conrad Punta de Mita for 10 nights in two suites as a family of five, and overall, we had a wonderful experience. The staff truly made our stay special. Everyone was warm, attentive, and professional, and we especially want to thank the concierge team, who were always helpful and available whenever we needed assistance. The rooms are very comfortable, spacious, and beautifully designed. We also enjoyed the walk to and from our suites each day. The grounds and gardens are kept flawlessly, and you can clearly see how much care goes into maintaining the property. The breakfast buffet is very good and offers plenty of variety. We recommend arriving early to avoid the crowds. We went at around 8:00 a.m. every morning, and it was always peaceful and enjoyable. Our sons especially loved Paleta, the restaurant near the pool, for lunch. The pizza was excellent, and we also enjoyed the ceviche and burgers. For dinner, both Árbol and Mezquite are definitely worth visiting. We did not have enough time to visit the spa, but the gym is excellent and very well equipped. There were only a couple of drawbacks. Housekeeping does not seem to follow a consistent schedule, and our rooms could be cleaned anytime between approximately 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m., even when we requested a more specific time. We also recommend using Uber for transportation outside the resort, as it is significantly less expensive than the hotel’s private transportation. Be sure to book it in advance. For example, a trip to El Anclote cost us approximately 150 pesos by Uber, while the hotel transportation was quoted at around USD 50, which is close to 1,000 pesos. Despite these small inconveniences, we had a lovely 10-night stay and would happily recommend Conrad Punta de Mita, especially for families looking for spacious accommodations, beautiful surroundings, excellent dining, and genuinely outstanding service."
