PB hotel design editorial

Where the Sierra Madre meets the Pacific at Punta de Mita, one of Mexico's last undeveloped stretches of Nayarit coastline provided the site for Conrad Punta de Mita — a low-rise resort that earns its footprint by spreading horizontally rather than asserting itself vertically against the jungle backdrop. The property's white-rendered blocks, no taller than four storeys, step back from a broad crescent of beach in a configuration that keeps the mountain ridgeline visible from nearly every angle, a restraint that reads clearly in the aerial view as deliberate planning rather than accident. The interiors take their cues from the palette immediately outside: warm tawny wood headboards in a herringbone pattern, large-format pale stone tile underfoot, and accent textiles in Pacific blue and burnt amber that shift register between rooms without abandoning the same coastal grammar. Woven rattan chairs on deep balconies open to unobstructed ocean sightlines, while the beach club — teak tables set directly on sand beneath tensile canvas shade sails strung with warm Edison bulbs — gives the property its most atmospheric moment, the Pacific framed by a colonnade of coconut palms whose trunks recede toward the horizon. The freeform pool system meanders through planted grounds toward the water's edge, terminating in an infinity edge that dissolves the boundary between fresh and salt water at the property's quieter, more private southern end.

"We had a wonderful time staying at the Conrad Punta de Mita and it truly felt like a special escape. The resort is stunning — modern, elegant, and perfectly set right on a gorgeous stretch of beach with palm trees everywhere. The infinity pool was one of the highlights! Crystal-clear water, amazing ocean views, and so relaxing. We spent hours there and even got a fun surprise when a big iguana casually strolled along the edge of the pool — it made for great photos and laughs. The beach area is beautiful too, with plenty of loungers and that perfect Pacific breeze. Our room was spacious and comfortable, with a huge comfortable bed and lovely modern decor. Waking up to ocean views (or watching the sunset from the room) was magical. The sunsets over the ocean were breathtaking — fiery orange skies that turned the whole beach golden. Highly recommend grabbing a drink and just soaking it in. Food was delicious! Breakfast by the pool or on the terrace was fresh and generous — great coffee, fruit, eggs, and pastries. Evening dinners felt upscale and tasty, with nice presentation and good variety. Service throughout the resort was warm, attentive, and genuinely friendly — everyone made us feel welcome. The whole property has a serene, luxurious vibe with beautiful design touches in the lobby and common areas. It’s the perfect mix of relaxation and a touch of adventure (hello, friendly iguanas!). We left feeling refreshed and already thinking about coming back. If you’re looking for a high-end beachfront stay near Puerto Vallarta with great pools, views, and service, this is it. Highly recommended!"

"My family (2adults, 2 teen boys) had a great stay over winter break. By the time we booked we could only get a room with a king bed and sofa bed, but it was actually very comfortable for my boys to share. We really appreciated the game room and sports courts, all of which were never overcrowded and we made great use of them. We also never had an issue getting lounge seats— they weren’t necessarily easy to come by but within a few minutes the hardworking staff was able to find us some. The only negative was the food, which was absurdly overpriced and very mediocre. We ended up eating dinner early at Paleta, the poolside lunch place, a couple nights because it had the most appealing menu and it was quite good. Though we mostly kept to the hotel, we took an uber to Sayulita one afternoon, and also I arranged a fun boat trip to the Marietas Islands— highly recommend!"

"My wife and I stayed for a week at Conrad. It had a lot going for it including the comfy cushioned chairs, pool lunch food was great, and the staff was very friendly. I'd say breakfast was a bit disappointing. It was ok, but more like what I would expect at a cheaper hotel brand like a Hyatt Regency. Dinner food was ok but very expensive for the location. We went to the town of Punta de Mita 4 or 5 nights and had way better food and at reasonable prices. The biggest disappointment was Private Dining. I arranged weeks ahead of time for a Private Dining "experience" at Mezquite for Valentines Day. It was suppose to be a romantic setup on the beach. The setup turned out to be a standard table about 15ft from the other tables. It had a sign with our name on it. That was it. No decorations. Essentially I paid $500 for a sign next to our table. I've done similar private dining at the beach at many hotels and there's always some decorations (flowers, candles, curtains, etc). Nothing at all for this setup. I also got food poisoning from the meal and was sick as a dog for the next 2 days. Bottom line recommendation is its a decent hotel to stay at if you find the right rate, but definitely skip Private Dining."

"The staff here was AMAZING. So hard working and kind, they are amazing people who genuinely want to take good care of you and show you hospitality. Rafael and Fabio and the banquet staff were amazing, Gil with room service, Hector with security, Marisol, Raul at the spa, and so many more. From the cleaning staff to room service to security, everyone was amazing and made my stay great!"
