PB hotel design editorial
Where the Sierra Madre foothills descend toward the Pacific at Riviera Nayarit, a low-slung compound of rammed-earth walls and cantilevered timber pavilions pushes through a dense canopy of tropical dry forest to claim one of Mexico's most ecologically sensitive coastlines. Siari, Ritz-Carlton Reserve's entry into this stretch of Nayarit, takes its name from the Huichol word for heart, and that etymological anchor does real design work: the architecture, conceived to dissolve into the landscape rather than impose upon it, keeps its profile deliberately horizontal, the circular restaurant pavilion visible from the exterior emerging from the treeline on piloti as if lifted clear of the forest floor. The interiors carry the atmosphere of a well-considered private compound — warm-toned stucco walls paired with rich dark timber cladding, woven rattan armchairs set on circular jute rugs, and beds framed by slatted wood screens that filter jungle light across the room. Handcrafted ceramic pendant lights in deep teal punctuate the dining space, their glaze absorbing rather than reflecting the afternoon sun that floods in through raw wood-framed openings. The lagoon-style pool weaves between existing boulders left precisely in place, palm trunks rising through the deck, a gesture that places ecological stewardship at the center of the design proposition rather than treating it as afterthought.

Siari Riviera Nayarit, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve Reviews
"Arrival & Security My wife and I booked a spontaneous stay only 12 hours before arrival to celebrate our 6-year anniversary. As Americans traveling in today’s political climate, we admittedly felt a bit uneasy about safety, but we also value continuing our tradition of celebrating our marriage internationally each year. The Ritz-Carlton team went above and beyond to ensure we felt comfortable before we even arrived. They arranged private transportation directly from the airport, allowing us to avoid navigating taxis on our own. When flying into Puerto Vallarta International Airport, you arrive in the state of Jalisco, which has appeared in certain U.S. travel advisories. Because of that, I highly recommend arranging transportation through the resort ahead of time. It made our arrival seamless and stress-free. Security at the resort is incredibly thorough. There are three gated checkpoints before reaching the property, which immediately put us at ease and allowed us to relax and fully enjoy the beauty of Siari. First Impressions The views at check-in are breathtaking. The skyline is framed by the dramatic Sierra Madre Occidental mountains and the deep blue waters of the Pacific Ocean. The scent of lush vegetation mixed with the crisp ocean air instantly melted away any lingering stress. Service & Staff Service throughout our stay was phenomenal. Our three Yakanas, Gabino, Christian, and Lorenzo, along with the F&B staff and the in-room dining manager, all played a role in making our stay memorable. Every team member anticipated our needs and handled every request, big or small, with genuine warmth. One small but memorable detail, the staff were amazing photographers. Nearly every photo they took of my wife and me turned out perfectly, something we truly appreciated during our anniversary trip. A major shoutout also goes to the RT Transportation team, the vendor the resort uses for guest transportation. Our driver Andy (Andres) was one of the kindest people we met during the trip. He showed us local spots around the city and even joined us for dinner at one of his favorite taco spots. Andy went out of his way to make us feel safe, comfortable, and welcomed into the local culture. Dining The food on property was outstanding, with our favorite restaurant being Estero. The steak tacos were easily a 20 out of 10. Each bite exploded with flavor, and the scratch-made flour tortillas were so soft and buttery that my wife and I talked about them long after the meal ended. Breakfast at Zula was another highlight each morning. The chilaquiles and made-to-order quesadillas were excellent, and watching the chef prepare fresh tortillas right in front of us was a treat. If you visit in March, you may even get lucky and spot whales from the balcony. Rooms & Housekeeping The rooms are absolutely stunning. No detail was overlooked in the design. From thoughtfully placed mirrors to the seamless indoor-outdoor layout with floor-to-ceiling sliding patio doors, the space makes you feel connected to the surrounding environment while still wrapped in luxury. Housekeeping was extraordinary, some of the best we’ve experienced at any Ritz-Carlton property. Our room was always immaculate, and every time we returned it felt like we were entering for the first time. Construction Note Parts of the property are still under construction, but it never felt intrusive or disruptive. Even the construction staff were incredibly courteous, greeting guests each morning with a smile and a warm “Buenos días.” Final Thoughts If you’re deciding where to stay in Mexico and the Siari Ritz-Carlton Reserve isn’t already on your list, it absolutely should be. Between the breathtaking scenery, world-class service, incredible food, and genuine hospitality, every part of our stay exceeded expectations. Stay here. You’ll leave with unforgettable memories and a deeper appreciation for Mexico, its culture, wildlife, and the incredible people who make this place so special."

"The room is absolutely gorgeous — beautifully designed, spacious, and truly luxurious. The aesthetic and overall feel are stunning. However, there is a design issue in the bathroom: water from the shower tends to flow out into the main area, which is clearly something that needs attention. The staff is fantastic. You can genuinely feel that they are trying their very best, especially considering this is a new hotel. Everyone was warm, attentive, and eager to help, which made the stay even more pleasant. The food across all restaurants was superb — high quality, beautifully presented, and consistently delicious. A true highlight of the experience. One uncomfortable moment occurred when a gentleman was loudly shouting at and speaking rudely to staff members in a public area, I believe to one of the directors. It did not appear that he was part of the team, and when I discreetly asked, I was told he was the owner. It was disappointing to witness that kind of behavior in a property with such potential and with a team that is clearly working very hard. I genuinely felt for them. Additionally, I purchased a dress at the boutique and returned about 15 minutes later because it did not fit or hold as expected. I was told that exchanges were not accepted. For a hotel operating at this price point, a more flexible and guest-oriented return policy would be appropriate and expected. Overall, the hotel has tremendous potential. With a few operational refinements and a stronger alignment between leadership and service culture, it could truly become exceptional."

"We stayed at this newly opened resort for 6 days on property, it was utterly amazing. The resort itself is nestled inside a much larger private enclave of high-end properties, complete with a golf-course and gated access across the board. Driving past these amazing properties to get to the resort itself was impressive, but the actual resort is beyond measure. Each room is it's own oasis of ocean view, with options for beach level access, private infinity pool, and sound level. For those seeking family-friendly, there are rooms closer to the beach, for those (like us) seeking utter and complete quiet, there are beautiful rooms up the hill. Each bank of rooms is roughly 4-6 suites in a single building, and there is ZERO wall/floor "sound bleed." You only hear the ocean and the birds (if you are a birder, bring your app - there are scores of amazing finds here). For your entire trip, you are assigned a "Yakana", which is the equivalent of your "butler" in other resorts. Ours became our fast friends, and were responsible for anything we wanted - whether special food requests in the room, or meeting us with motorized transport to get around the resort. Such great people - everybody is so kind and CALM. Your neck muscles with thank you for the release of tension just standing in the resort. The bathroom and walk-in closet are palatial, and the separate glass-enclosed shower room is everything you would hope - good pressure, good temperature, lots of room. The cleaning team hit every note every time, including leaving little happy surprises throughout - we felt constantly cared for and infinite cleanliness is always nice. There are three primary restaurants on the property, so our rotation was a little limited over 6 days, but the options were enough to give us all the variety we could hope. We also had a very special anniversary dinner with a mind-blowing sweeping sunset view - and all our new friends leaned in to make it incredibly special. We generally felt loved. Our days consisted of "wake up when you want", go to get breakfast at the beachside restaurant, get changed into beachwear and go to the adult pool and adjoining cabanas for hours upon hours of reading and having snacks and meals provided to us by our friends at the adult pool. It was whale season when we were there - so yes, while we melted into our loungers with our own infinite pool in the cabana, we got to see whales leap right out on the horizon - it was pretty ridiculous. If you want to let go, disappear, and soak in catered bliss. Go here. I'm a persnickety overstressed 6'5" middle-aged man who doesn't relax easily. I came home utterly and completely stress-free. Stress. Free."

"I am going to make a very detailed review because when I fist booked this hotel I didn’t see any reviews since it’s brand new so I will try to be as detailed as possible . The first time being in PVR airport from my understanding it’s newer hotel . The process to get out of airport was tedious and long took us almost two hours to get out of the airport . The ride to the hotel is about 1 hour 15 min . Regarding the hotel it is spectacular it’s very remote and definitely a place for R&R if you are looking for entertainment and lively crowd this is not the hotel for you . It’s a hotel for pure relaxation the vibe is very serene. The views are breathtaking. I believe every room has an ocean view it’s not a massive hotel but on a huge property it feels more like a boutique hotel in a little village of its own . The staff is very accommodating and they will go above and beyond to make you feel comfortable . They are always at your service and are very kind they have good carts that will pick you up and take you anywhere everyone gets their own assigned yekana (butler) we had Mohamed and Carlos shout out to the both of them they were superb . They pay attention to detail and update you on anything you need via group chat . They don’t miss a beat . I highly recommend coming here for those reasons . With that said though I would like to mention a few points that have room for improvement especially since it’s brand new hopefully these challenges will overcome . First - the construction on the website it says that they are refining some things but they are definitely still working on the resort as whole there is construction going on daily for the residences and it’s not done yet . The construction isn’t extremely loud but it’s constant and it’s there which really upset me considering they did not mention this anywhere . Second - the spa I’m very modest and the spa wasn’t even enclosed it’s actually open on both sides they say that it’s private but really it’s not there is no wall to block you off from others seeing you and I don’t understand how a facility on this caliber wouldn’t have thought about privacy . On top of that there were workers that came right in front of the space and started planting trees. I spoke to manager and they worked with me but still this is common sense and even with that corrected once these challenges Tweeks to hotel are finalized I probably still wouldn’t enjoy the spa for the privacy reason . However it’s a nice space and has a cold plunge , jacuzzi, steam room and sauna . Third - food . So i will preface by saying we are pescatarians so we didn’t get to try any of the meat/ chicken so I can’t speak to that . The restaurants that were available to us were Zula , Estero , Naao. For breakfast they only have Zula which is a l a carte and on weekends is buffet style. The food all tastes fresh and farm to table style , there was even a lady making quesadillas from scratch ! It was very impressive . For dinner I felt like our options were limited I didn’t really like Estero i felt like my fish was dry and presentation was just ok . The white pizza though was phenomenal. They also do have gluten free options that are listed but I dont know if they have carb alternatives that are gf you would have to check . We ended up skipping Zula for dinner all together because the options for us were very limited and didn’t feel like we had much to chose from which led us to Naao three days in a row . Naao was an Asian fusion restaurant with sushi and some red curry plates which honestly that place was a 10/10. The sushi was so fresh everything about it we loved and that is reason we went back three days in a row our waiter Edwardo was really nice and enjoyed that we kept coming back . I just wish they had other options st other restaurant just to change it up a little but honestly Naao is one of those places you could just go back to again and again and not mind it . Just a few more pointers - the time zone at the hotel is different then at the airport it’s one hour ahead from airport time and your phone doesn’t automatically change which confused me you will have to adjust manually . The beach is gorgeous the sand is so beautiful but the waves were a little rough if we had our kids with us I would have to be a little more careful if they wanted to swim I guess pay attention to what time of year you come . Hope I covered all the basis I had a wonderful time and highly recommend the hotel . If you are someone who will be bothered by minor changes that are going on during your stay then I would hold off booking for a few more months until they straighten everything out ."

"This review is for the team at Naao - the onsite Japanese restaurant. 100/100. I mean, guys, come on. I came in here like dooo you have the toro, doooo you have the sunomono, blah, blah, blah. I had almost the entire menu (small plates :-)), and whatever they’re doing, and whatever they’re serving- they’re doing right. I’ll put their blue fin up against your suburban-pilates-mom “toro” any day of the week. Misail, Antonio, and Aldo what a squad. Just killed it. Drinks- check, food- check, feel good joy and awesomeness- check. Highly recommend."
