"What a special place! We were lucky enough to have the time to book a last minute 4 night trip to Rosewood Mayakoba in July and we had a blast. The property is still gorgeous, the rooms are still spacious and comfortable and the service is still top notch. The best part is the number of familiar faces - from the women in the kid's club to the golf cart driers, boat captains, breakfast servers and pool staff - the same faces since our first visit in 2024. Cynthia really made us feel special - as she always had - checking in, making recommendations and helping us celebrate my wife's birthday. She is a true asset to the property and sets a tone that most other resorts can't even begin to compare with. Our butlers - Cesar and Alberto - were on top of every detail and made sure everything was scheduled and taken care of - true relaxation. Seaweed was a major issue - but that's mother nature and should be over with in the near future. The newly renovated family pool plus the Casa Del Lago pool left us with more than enough to do. "HOTEL & GROUNDS Rosewood Mayakoba is a sanctuary nestled within the sprawling complex of Mayakoba, and despite the privacy already to be experienced within Mayakoba, the Rosewood itself seems even more secluded and private. The winding lagoons that weave throughout the property create a peaceful natural backdrop, filled with the sounds and sights of wildlife that make it feel as though you're staying in your own private nature reserve. The property's design follows the same philosophy — understated, elegant, and deeply connected to its surroundings. We loved how peaceful and quiet the property was, and the ability to navigate the grounds on provided bikes added to the serenity of it all since golf carts weren't constantly shuttling around. I'd argue that being transported in a golf cart is a thought that never even occurs though since this property has the unique mode of transportation by waterway, and boat transportation truly sets Rosewood Mayakoba apart from your usual resort. Gliding through the lagoons was an incredibly relaxing and charming way to travel, and we loved being able to be picked up or dropped off directly at our suite's private dock. It's a uniquely Mayakoba experience that never lost its novelty. The beach was perhaps our only minor disappointment but is an otherwise common complaint to be had for this area. The offshore barriers used to manage the seasonal seaweed prevent it from being the postcard-perfect Caribbean beach travelers may envision. That said, the beachfront settings at Aquí Me Quedo and Punta Bonita are still wonderful places to relax by the water. Ultimately though, I think Mayakoba's greatest asset isn't its beach but the breathtaking network of lagoons and waterways that make the destination unlike anywhere else. Lastly, a special mention goes to Zapote, Rosewood's exceptional bar and restaurant. It's a destination in its own right, even for those not staying at Rosewood or within Mayakoba. The lively atmosphere, inventive cocktail program, and impeccable hospitality made it one of the highlights of our stay, and it's easy to understand why it's consistently ranked among the world's best bars. ROOM Although we stayed in the entry-level Lagoon Studio Suite, there was nothing basic about the experience. The accommodations are sophisticated yet understated, with tasteful décor that emphasizes a strong sense of place and draws your attention toward the surrounding natural beauty. The bed is quite comfortable with just enough balance between being too soft or firm with large, plush pillows, and a request for a firmer pillow was easily supplied. The bathroom's circular layout is a bit unconventional and awkward, but that is quickly forgotten once you step outside to the incredible outdoor waterfall shower, surrounded by lush tropical greenery. It became one of our favorite features of the suite and the perfect place to cool off after spending time in the heat of the Riviera Maya. That said, we especially loved spending time in the outdoor areas of our suite. From the outdoor shower to the spacious terrace with its private plunge pool overlooking the mangrove-lined lagoon, every space encouraged us to simply enjoy the surroundings. SERVICE Service is where Rosewood Mayakoba truly distinguishes itself. I'd intentionally tempered my expectations after hearing countless stories about the resort's exemplary hospitality, but I'm delighted to say it exceeded expectations. We decided to book Rosewood for our final night in Mayakoba after a disappointing stay at a nearby property, and despite making our reservation only the evening before, the team at Rosewood was quickly able to arrange and ready our suite to our needs the next morning. I can only imagine how much more personalized and special our arrival would have been had they been given more notice. Throughout our stay, service felt effortless and remarkably intuitive. It seemed as though every team member knew who we were and what we needed before we even had to ask. Information we shared with one staff member somehow appeared to be seamlessly communicated throughout the resort. Funnily felt like a Pluribus experience at times, but it was a level of attention and service we noticed and appreciated. Rather than feeling intrusive, it made every interaction feel thoughtful and personalized. A special thank you to our host, Samantha, whose warmth, attentiveness, and impeccable coordination made our brief stay completely effortless and worry-free. Overall, Rosewood is the rare property where the surroundings, accommodations, dining, and service come together so seamlessly, and we can't wait for the opportunity to return."

"We stayed at this resort to celebrate my 70th birthday, and our family rented a private house on the property. I had been looking forward to experiencing a Rosewood resort, but unfortunately it did not live up to my expectations. One of the highlights of our stay was the staff. Everyone we encountered was friendly, welcoming, and very attentive. They consistently provided excellent service throughout our visit. The resort itself was nice, but there simply was not enough to do. The kids enjoyed riding the bikes, and the boat rides through the property were one of the highlights. However, there were not enough boats available, so guests often had to wait or take golf carts instead. That took away from one of the resort’s unique experiences. The beach was also a major disappointment and not a place where we wanted to spend much time. The biggest issue was the value. The resort is extremely expensive for what you receive. Breakfast, which was included in our stay, was excellent and easily the best meal of the day. However, lunch and dinner were very overpriced, especially for Mexico, and the quality did not justify the cost. We were fortunate that children’s meals were included, which helped, but the adult dining prices were excessive. I am also an avid golfer, and as a resort guest, I expected much better golf pricing. Paying more than $750 for two people to play one round, including club rentals, was extremely expensive and did not feel like a reasonable guest rate. To make matters worse, the first set of rental clubs I was given was unacceptable. I had to call the marshal during the round to bring me a different set of clubs. At these prices, the equipment and overall golf experience should have been first class. Overall, I expected a luxury experience that matched the price, and it simply fell short. While the staff was outstanding, it was not enough to make up for the lack of activities, disappointing beach, excessive golf fees, and poor value. There are many other luxury resorts in other countries that offer better beaches, more activities, higher quality food, and a much better overall value. I would not return and would not recommend spending your money here."

"We stayed at Rosewood Mayakoba from July 1-5, 2026, in Room 522, expecting a world-class luxury experience to celebrate the 250th anniversary of American Independence. We paid well over $XX,XXX based on the resort’s reputation and explicit assurances from staff during booking. What we got was one of the most disappointing vacations we’ve ever had. Do not book here if you’re expecting the high-end holiday they promise. Before booking, we specifically asked about fireworks and July 4th events. Staff reassured us 100% there would be fireworks. This was the main reason we chose this resort for the historic milestone. Guess what? No fireworks at all. Zero. The “celebration” was a complete joke: just two cheap speakers and two guys on a microphone. No DJ, no live entertainment, no performers, no energy whatsoever. The food at the event was awful — dry ribs, terrible desserts, and overall low-quality offerings that looked cheaply thrown together. The kids’ activities were even worse. Mediocre, boring games that felt like they were planned by someone who has never been around children. Our kids were bored and repeatedly disappointed, asking why there was nothing fun, no fireworks, and no real party. For a luxury family resort, this was unacceptable and embarrassing. Staff gave us misleading excuses (including nonsense about turtles) when we asked what happened to the promised festivities. Meanwhile, friends at other hotels in the area got full fireworks shows, DJs every night, live entertainment, wrestling matches, and real family activities — all for about 1/4 of what we paid. The only decent parts were some friendly staff and the scenic boat ride to the room. Everything else, especially the hyped-up 4th of July event, felt cheap, underplanned, and not remotely worth the obscene price tag. We left feeling ripped off and that our family holiday was ruined. Rosewood Mayakoba markets itself as ultra-luxury and elegant. This experience proved the opposite for the money spent. Save yourself the disappointment and thousands of dollars — go somewhere else that actually delivers what they promise. We will never return and cannot recommend this resort to anyone, especially families looking for a memorable holiday. (We have requested a full refund and documented everything.
