PB hotel design editorial

Framed beneath horseshoe arches of hand-carved stucco, a still reflecting pool draws the eye through to a cypress-lined canal and, beyond it, the snow-dusted Atlas Mountains — a composition so deliberately calibrated that it recalls the great Andalusian gardens of the Alhambra more than any conventional hotel arrival sequence. The Oberoi Marrakech, which opened in 2016 across 28 acres of the Gzoula Sidi Mbarek olive groves on the city's northern edge, was conceived as a contemporary interpretation of a Moroccan royal kasbah, its rose-tinted tadelakt facades stepping down in terraced layers toward a large outdoor pool lined with tall Washington palms. The craftsmanship throughout draws on the full vocabulary of Moroccan artisanal tradition — zellige tilework in geometric star patterns runs along lower wall registers, dark cedarwood ceiling beams frame the loggia pavilions, and hand-applied plaster relief panels form textured headboard surrounds in the 96 guest rooms and suites. The guest room interiors balance this heritage language against a restrained contemporary palette: wide-plank oak floors, upholstered headboards in warm saffron and sage, tufted velvet sofas in crimson, and low glass-topped coffee tables with slender black-steel frames. The outdoor dining terrace, furnished with woven rattan armchairs and iron lanterns casting amber light at dusk, looks directly over the landscaped gardens toward the Atlas range — a view that organises the entire property around the logic of the Moroccan garden as threshold between architecture and wilderness.

"Beautiful property, fantastic and attentive staff across all teams, accommodating and thoughtful. It is a true 5-star destination which everyone who is able to should try to endulge. It is a luxury experience, but one which is justified. The grounds are stunning, the friendliness is genuine, rooms are excellent, and food is both delicious and generously served."

"It is an extraordinary hotel set on twenty hectares of land, surrounded by centuries old olive trees. There is an incredible sense of space, with beautifully landscaped gardens throughout the property. The service is truly next level. Honestly an 11 out of 10 . The food is good. The lunch service by the main pool is set in a beautiful location but the quality of the food and service there was somewhat disappointing compared to the rest of the hotel experience, if I had to mention a point for improvement . What truly blew me away, was the scale of the architecture and the craftsmanship in the details. This place was built with love, care and vision over the course of ten years. It has soul- something that is increasingly rare in luxury hospitality today. For me. The Oberoi Marrakech is firmly in competition with my other favorite The Manderin Oriental Marrakesh for the number one spot there A bow to what they have created ."

"Our 4-night stay at The Oberoi Marrakech was truly unforgettable and the perfect place to celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary. From the moment we arrived, the team made us feel incredibly special. We were met by the hotel GM himself Rohan Ogale upon arrival, which was a welcoming touch to our stay. The team surprised us with beautiful anniversary decorations in our room, champagne , and thoughtful touches that made the celebration so memorable. The property itself is absolutely stunning — elegant, peaceful, and luxurious in every way. But what truly sets this hotel apart is the people. Every staff member went above and beyond to ensure we were comfortable and cared for throughout our stay. Special mention to Mamdouh Milad, Hajar Bougati, Arjun Krishnan and many others. During our visit, I experienced a medical issue, and the hotel staff were exceptional in helping me recover. They quickly arranged for a doctor, assisted with medications, and continually checked in on me with genuine kindness and concern. Their support meant more to us than words can express. The Oberoi Marrakech is more than just a beautiful hotel — it is a place filled with warmth, compassion, and outstanding hospitality. We left feeling deeply grateful for the care we received and with memories we will cherish forever. A big thank you to the staff and management at Oberoi Marrakech! Highly recommend a visit to this enchanting property in Morocco."

"A dreamlike location, with service coordinated and organized by Director Mr. Milad at an exceptionally high level. Outstanding food on every occasion, a sublime restaurant where you can truly appreciate all the aromas and flavors of Indian cuisine. We asked for privacy and peace and we found both in a fairytale setting: we can’t wait to return. Many thanks to the entire hotel team for their dedication in maintaining the property and ensuring excellence in service for their guests. Sarah & Marco"
