PB hotel design editorial

Where the Atlantic meets the Bou Regreg estuary at the edge of Rabat's Quartier de l'Océan, a new resort compound draws its architectural language directly from the Moroccan coastal medina — whitewashed render, arched colonnades, green-glazed pyramidal roof pavilions, and bougainvillea cascading over rendered boundary walls. The Four Seasons Hotel Rabat at Kasr Al Bahr, whose name translates as Palace of the Sea, threads this vernacular vocabulary through a low-rise complex where tiered infinity pools spill in cascading waterfalls between palm-lined terraces, the whole composition oriented toward the Atlantic horizon. Inside, the central lobby takes the form of a glazed winter garden, its ceiling latticed with a monumental installation of gold rods and star-form armatures that reinterpret traditional Moroccan zellige geometry at an entirely different scale, tropical planting erupting from the marble floor below. Guest rooms split between two registers: one palette runs to taupe grasscloth walls, a patterned carpet in cream and gold with botanical tracery, a tufted emerald leather pouf, and stacked-globe wall sconces in brass and polychrome ceramic; the other is cooler — sage-green upholstered headboard panels, white Carrara marble flooring, and quieter terracotta ceramic sconces. The spa takes the most considered approach of all: dark-veined stone cladding carved into topographic relief panels flanks an indoor pool beneath an arabesque ceiling screen, pendant brass lanterns multiplying across the still water below.
