"My partner and I stayed here for 2 nights at the end of a 3-week trip — and had an absolutely excellent experience. The service was top notch: checkin was welcoming, fast and helpful; water, coffee and tea were replenished immediately; and staff were eager to help us make a reservation at a restaurant in another hotel. The room was spotless and well-equipped. The location is perfect for sightseeing across Amsterdam, while also offering a much-needed calm and relaxing oasis from the hustle outside. The onsite bar, Super Lyan, quickly became one of our most favorite cocktail bars ever. The drinks were excellent (interesting and well balanced) and the food shockingly good. And the bar staff were just fantastic - fast, friendly and knowledgeable. We would happily stay here whenever we’re back in Amsterdam!"

"This was my fourth stay at Kimpton De Witt and I’ve visited as a couple, with friends and, more recently, as a family with our daughter. It’s somewhere I keep coming back to, which probably says more than any star rating could. Has every stay been perfect? No. We’ve had the odd hiccup with things like housekeeping but they’ve always been minor and have never detracted from the overall experience. The location is hard to beat for exploring Amsterdam, the rooms are comfortable, the staff are friendly, breakfast is good and the Social Hour is a lovely touch after a day wandering around the city. A special mention has to go to Super Lyan, which remains one of my favourite hotel bars anywhere in the world. Whether you’re staying at the hotel or just looking for a great cocktail, it’s well worth a visit. I’m sure we’ll be back again."

"We moved to this hotel at the last minute, in the middle of the night in June 2026, after a disasterous stay at a boutique hotel elsewhere in Amsterdam. The Kimpton staff were very kind and accommodating. Our Kimpton hotel room was spacious, clean, and quiet. The maid service was exceptional, and the staff are wonderful. Every single staff member was friendly and extremely helpful. The lobby/downstairs lounge area is spacious, well-appointed, and cozy. If you want to sit down there with a laptop or a book, you'll find a comfy spot. The only thing I will comment on is the neighborhood. The hotel is very well situated by the train station - the station is approximately a 5-10 minute walk. But the neighborhood itself is more industrial and frenetic than the De 9 Straatjes area where we had previously stayed. The vibe of the area reminded me of the Time Square neighborhood in NYC - lots of people, some of them drunk, various people asking for money, the occasional unhoused person sitting quietly on the pavement, and a lot of street noise once you leave the building. I prefer the quiet serenity of some of the other parts of Amsterdam."

"The worst service you can expect for the price tier. It went wrong from checking in, when staff could not keep ip with the influx of checking in guests. Understandably, it is peak season, and it took 30 minutes for the check in to complete. However, it only went downhill from there. When I got back to the hotel, I saw the receptionists have a spin and win activity with another client, and I asked if I can join. The receptionist was extremely dismissive and did not give any directions. He only said “follow our social media” and did not say through which channel. I had to ask 4 times which app for him to answer me back. Not only that, when I followed their account on instagram, as instructed, he completely changed the rule and said I have to find the instructions by myself on the instagram posts. Mind you, I do not mind playing games, but I would really appreciated if you explain the rules fully. Not only that, while I was standing there clueless trying to search for “passwords” they put away the spin wheel. It takes less than 30 seconds to inform me that I was not eligible for the activity, and instead they chose to let me stand there like an idiot for 10 minutes without instructions and expected I would eventually give up and go away. This is unacceptable behavior, and as a female traveler, I feel extremely dismissed and unsafe through the behaviors of the staff. Not only that specific receptionist was trying to brush it off, there were 3 others that saw the whole thing happened and did not intervene. This is not hospitality and borderline racist. I would not recommend this hotel for anyone. Within the price range and the location, you all have better options. Please do not go here, specifically if you are a solo female traveler."
