"The hotel should not be a Marriott! It was filthy and room sucked!"

"Sorry to say , but this is simply not normal W hotel standards. We are a family of four and have asked for two rooms nexts to each other, 5 weeks in advance. When we can , we could not get two rooms nexts to each other and the rooms was so dirty and smelling . We asked for a new room , but it was only slightly better… When you walk around the hotel you can really see and smell how much it needs to be total renovated and just basic cleaning is not good . All in all , a very big disappointment and we will definitely not come back or recommend this W hotel to anyone."

"Upon checking in, they hold 900€ amount as a deposit for damages, why would the hotel that an adult lady would damage the room for worth of 900€ ! That is weird and not mentioned anywhere while making the booking."

"We stayed at W Amsterdam twice on a longer European trip — once earlier in our itinerary and once again on our way home — and both stays were undermined by basic operational failures that have no business happening at this price point. On our first stay, check-in took a very long time, and once we finally got through it, the front desk couldn't even generate our room keys due to a system issue. We ended up being let into our room by a bellboy carrying our luggage, and had to go back down over an hour later just to collect the actual keys. To make matters worse, only one of the hotel's two elevators was working for all 3 days of our stay — the wait times were real every time we wanted to go up or down, even though it wasn't especially crowded. We had specifically paid extra for a canal view room, and it was a real disappointment: the "view" was directly onto a garbage boat and two garbage vans that were permanently docked and parked right outside. If you're paying a premium for a view here, be aware you may not get anything close to what you're expecting. On our second stay, check-in itself went smoothly, but the room we were shown into hadn't been cleaned. We had to go back downstairs to report it and were left waiting roughly 90 minutes with no clear timeline for a replacement room. When we were finally moved, it also wasn't the room category we had booked — we'd paid for a view and were given a room without one. The hotel did offer a 50% discount on the room rate as compensation, but honestly, it didn't come close to making up for the lost afternoon on our last day in Europe, or for not getting the room we'd actually paid for. For what this hotel charges, we expected a much smoother, more reliable experience on both visits. Between the key system failure, a single working elevator for 3 straight days, an obstructed paid-upgrade view, and an unclean room on our return, this doesn't feel like good value for money. The one consistent positive across both stays was housekeeping — always thorough, always leaving the room spotless when we returned each day. Right in the heart of the city, an easy walk to the main canals, shopping streets, and restaurants. Genuinely one of the best-placed hotels we stayed at on the trip. One more thing worth flagging separately, since it didn't factor into our rating but genuinely caught us off guard: the room layout itself. There's no proper bathroom suite — the shower and toilet are separate small rooms that open directly into the bedroom, and the wash basin sits out in the open in the bedroom itself, tucked behind the bed. The rooms are also oddly shaped and quite cramped for the category. It's clearly a stylistic choice on the brand's part, but if privacy in your own room matters to you, it's worth knowing about before you book."
