This is a hotel where the staff anticipated your every need, knows you by name and treats you like you are their only priority . We have travelled extensively and have never experienced service of this caliber. From davide to yagik to Sara to Helen.Caroline and Joel every single staff member was gracious warm and at your service. It was clearly their mission to make our day the best stay ever no ask was too much. The hotel itself is beautifully located on the lake the rooms were stunning the food excellent. This is a ten star hotel!!"

"Rosewood Matakauri was the perfect choice for our honeymoon — small, intimate, and it truly felt like our own private oasis. Every window frames a breathtaking view of Lake Wakatipu and the surrounding mountains, and our suite was beautifully designed with thoughtful touches and a fireplace that made it feel like home. Dining was exceptional, with seasonal New Zealand dishes. Most of all, the service was warm, personal, and flawless — staff anticipated our needs and made every moment feel special. We loved the homemade cookies and gummy bears in the main lodge. An unforgettable stay."

"For what they charge, I was expecting an insanely nice property. New Zealand is beautiful for sure, and the property is right on the lake, so the views are amazing. However, the price calls for an insane breakfast, spa and gym. The gym was good at best, and the massage was good but they call that a spa for a $440 massage?! The staff was very nice but the person helping me with my luggage disappeared and left me to haul it the rest of the way through the gravel to my car. If you need a firm bed like they have in Europe-this is not for you."

"Now you could say the Post Ranch Inn is the like Matakauri of the northern hemisphere or wise versa. What they have in common is a location close to heaven, exceptional service and hospitality as great food. We also love our family villa which had everything we dreamed of (and our little ones are demanding 😉)."
