The street facade tells the story before you step inside: Inca stonework at the base, precisely fitted without mortar, gives way to colonial Spanish masonry above, the whole composition crowned by a carved pink andesite portal that dates to the seventeenth century. Palacio Nazarenas, which Belmond opened in 2012 after extensive restoration of this former convent and colonial mansion in Cusco's centro histórico, is built on Inca foundations that still form the lower courses of its perimeter walls — a layering of civilisations that no new-build could manufacture. The 55 suites are arranged around multiple courtyards, the older of which retain the whitewashed arcaded galleries, terracotta-tiled balustrades, and dark timber columns visible in the images, geraniums massed in clay pots along the upper corridors in a tradition that feels entirely uncontrived. The interiors take their cue from the Spanish colonial casona rather than reaching for Andean exoticism. Four-poster beds with wrought-iron frames sit on handmade terracotta tile floors, carved walnut headboards and faded kilim-style rugs grounding the rooms in local craft without folklorism. The pool courtyard introduces a contemporary note — cobalt blue mosaic tile, teal parasols, wrought-iron café chairs — while the surrounding arched colonnade and upper timber balcony keep the ensemble anchored in its sixteenth-century shell. Andean mountain ranges frame the balcony views beyond the rooftiles, a reminder that the altitude here sits just above 3,400 metres.

"Oh my goodness, I would give this hotel 10 stars if I could. We only stayed here one night and I wish we could have stayed here for much longer. The room was incredible with all of the amenities and such a great turndown service, including bed warmers, and a make your own pisco sour bar. The meals were amazing at the restaurant and the pool service as well. The staff was so friendly and helpful, always greeting us by name and with a smile. It’s also in such a great location, close to all of the landmarks. I could not recommend this hotel enough to people, we didn’t even want to leave the room to explore! This has raised the standard of what it is to be a 5 star hotel for me!"

"Hotel Las Nazarenas is a beautiful place to stay in Cusco. The colonial architecture is stunning and full of charm. The restaurant served delicious food, and every meal was excellent. The service throughout the hotel was exceptional—everyone was friendly, attentive, and professional. I truly enjoyed spending the week there. The atmosphere was peaceful and welcoming, and the hotel’s facilities were beautiful and well maintained. I highly recommend this hotel for anyone visiting Cusco."

"Belmond Palacio Nazarenas gave us the most memorable stay of our lives. As a newly married Peruvian wife, I wanted my Puerto Rican husband to fall in love with my culture, and this team made it happen. Saúl, our butler, was exceptional. He took us on an excursion, taught us Cusco’s history, and answered every question with passion. He’s the heart of this hotel. Front desk walked our senior dog Mona on a holiday when no companies would. Wait staff made us breakfast before opening hours so we wouldn’t tour hungry, and explained every dish with pride. Housekeeping left our room impeccable daily — after long tour days, it felt like coming home. Everyone treated Mona like family. We were spoiled, cared for, and educated. Cusco is magical, but this staff made the magic real. They deserve every award. We’ll be back. Thank you for helping me share my Peru."
