PB hotel design editorial

At the cliff edge of Miraflores, where Lima's most affluent district drops sharply toward the Pacific and paragliders drift level with the upper floors, the JW Marriott Hotel Lima was built into one of the most dramatically positioned urban sites in South America. The 300-room tower, rising eighteen floors above the Larcomar shopping complex, presents a curtain-walled glass facade that captures the perpetual grey-silver light of the Peruvian coast — a sky rarely blue, always luminous — and frames it as the hotel's primary interior feature. The rooms sustain a palette of warm sand tones, pale ash millwork, and woven geometric headboard panels that nod loosely to pre-Columbian textile traditions without overstating the reference. Sheer linen curtains filter the Pacific haze rather than blocking it, and compact lounge chairs in cream upholstery cluster toward floor-to-ceiling windows where the horizon sits at eye level. The restaurant, fitted with herringbone oak floors, curved blue leather banquettes, and a living plant wall backed by a wine display, carries a confident contemporary register; the bar takes a darker turn — black granite counter, brass-footed stools in navy leather, and a branching chandelier of exposed filament bulbs catching the amber coastal sunset through gridded steel windows. The overall effect is less resort hotel than a serious urban property that happens to have been set down beside one of the world's more spectacular urban cliffs.

"On our recent trip to Peru we upgraded to the JW Marriott in Miraflores and we were so happy with our decision. The hotel is well located across the street from shops and restaurants and all the rooms have vies out to the Ocean. Miraflores is a very beautiful part of Lima and there is a great walking path along the cliffs by the ocean. The breakfast was very extensive and the servers were all very helpful and friendly. We would highly recommend staying at this hotel for your trip into Lima!"

"Ok the hotel is beautiful right smack in the middle of Miraflores towering over the mall and looking over the ocean. The lobby is beautiful plenty of seating and with a spectacular views. I stayed in room 912 on the ninth floor with had beautiful views the room is well thought out and the black out roll down shades was a good touch. Now for sleep quality between the street noise and the a/c makes a constant on and off noise I barely got any sleep. It’s a shame because every else is great. We had breakfast included with our stay which btw had a good selection and a nice view as you enjoy your food. Location of this hotel is great and it is our luxury but at least for me sleep was not good. So if you’re a deep sleeper this is the hotel for you. Everything else checks the box."

"The JW Marriott Lima has several things going for it. The location in Miraflores is excellent, the staff I encountered were professional and pleasant, and my room had an amazing view. On the surface, it has the polish you would expect from a hotel in this category. The room itself was on the smaller side, but it was thoughtfully designed and did not feel cramped. Mirrors were placed strategically, and the bathroom had an open feel while still offering privacy with large pocket doors. It was a smart use of space. Unfortunately, my stay was affected by two things that matter a lot to me: sleep and evening dining options. I was on the 6th floor, and while the view was beautiful, I heard constant street noise throughout the night. I live in the mountains and am not used to city noise, so this may not bother everyone the same way, but for me it was very disruptive. The mattress was also extremely hard. I understand that mattress preference is personal, and some people like a firm bed, but this felt well beyond firm. After long travel days, a comfortable bed matters, especially in a hotel at this level. The dinner options were also more limited than I expected. The main restaurant focuses on Nikkei cuisine, which can be wonderful when that is what you are in the mood for. But if you simply want to sit at the bar with a glass of wine and have a more traditional or casual dinner, there are not many choices. The other option was the Market, with a few sandwiches and salads, which felt more like lunch than dinner. Overall, this is a well-located hotel with good service, beautiful views, and a smart room layout, but it was not the most comfortable stay for me. If you are sensitive to noise, prefer a softer mattress, or want broader dinner options in the hotel, those are worth considering before booking."

"After more than two weeks exploring the rugged, breathtaking highlands of Peru, we were ready to be thoroughly spoiled - and the JW Marriott Lima delivered on every level. We checked in for three nights, and from the moment we arrived, the contrast couldn't have been more welcome. Trading altitude and adventure for the sleek, soaring elegance of this iconic 25-story glass tower in Miraflores felt like the perfect reward. The location is unbeatable - perched above the Pacific, steps from the best of the city, yet feeling like a world apart. The rooms were immaculate and deeply comfortable - exactly what our weary bodies needed. The service throughout was genuinely exceptional; warm, attentive, and effortless in that way only the best hotels manage to pull off. Every detail had been thought of, and it showed. For travelers returning from an expedition through Peru's highlands, there is something almost poetic about ending your journey here - the chaos and beauty of the Andes giving way to crisp linens, ocean views, and five-star calm. It reset us completely. Would I stay again? Without hesitation. The JW Marriott Lima isn't just a place to sleep - it's a destination in its own right, and the ideal finale to an unforgettable Peruvian adventure."
