PB hotel design editorial

At the cliff edge of Miraflores, where Lima's most affluent district drops sharply toward the Pacific and paragliders drift level with the upper floors, the JW Marriott Hotel Lima was built into one of the most dramatically positioned urban sites in South America. The 300-room tower, rising eighteen floors above the Larcomar shopping complex, presents a curtain-walled glass facade that captures the perpetual grey-silver light of the Peruvian coast — a sky rarely blue, always luminous — and frames it as the hotel's primary interior feature. The rooms sustain a palette of warm sand tones, pale ash millwork, and woven geometric headboard panels that nod loosely to pre-Columbian textile traditions without overstating the reference. Sheer linen curtains filter the Pacific haze rather than blocking it, and compact lounge chairs in cream upholstery cluster toward floor-to-ceiling windows where the horizon sits at eye level. The restaurant, fitted with herringbone oak floors, curved blue leather banquettes, and a living plant wall backed by a wine display, carries a confident contemporary register; the bar takes a darker turn — black granite counter, brass-footed stools in navy leather, and a branching chandelier of exposed filament bulbs catching the amber coastal sunset through gridded steel windows. The overall effect is less resort hotel than a serious urban property that happens to have been set down beside one of the world's more spectacular urban cliffs.

"Our stay at the JW Marriott Hotel in Miraflores, Perú, was truly wonderful. We celebrated our silver wedding anniversary, and the staff made us feel very special with thoughtful touches including a small cake, a bottle of wine, macarons, and complimentary cocktails. Our room was extremely comfortable, featuring spectacular ocean views and a large bathtub, which made our stay even more relaxing. The buffet breakfast was also sensational, with an excellent selection. We enjoyed the hotel so much that we invited our family for a buffet lunch the next day, which was delicious and offered a great variety of both Peruvian and international dishes. The only minor disappointment was the early check-in process. We were told we would be called when our room was ready, but unfortunately we never received a call. However, we were offered a midday check out. Overall, a fantastic stay and a memorable celebration—we would happily return. I highly recommend this hotel."

"Stayed at this hotel for a few nights while on a family vacation in Lima. The rooms have gorgeous views of the city or ocean and are very spacious and clean. We stayed on the club level which had a great lounge with meals, snacks and beverages throughout the day, and the service and staff were fantastic. The location was also perfect for exploring locally. Would definitely recommend and return."

"Just paid $ 110 CDN for a Margarita and a Vodka Martini . Taxi to airport from them is $ 60 US versus $ 15 if you book an Uber . This place takes gouging to a new level . Beware unless you don’t care ."

"We typically gravitate toward boutique hotels when traveling, but the JW Marriott Lima changed our perspective. From start to finish, the experience was excellent. Before our arrival, the concierge team was incredibly helpful in assisting with restaurant reservations, transportation, and activity planning. Our airport pickup in Lima went smoothly, and upon arrival, we were delighted to find our ocean-view room ready, complete with a thoughtful anniversary welcome. The room was spacious, beautifully appointed, and very comfortable. Breakfast each morning was abundant and delicious, with a wonderful variety of local fruits and Peruvian flavors. Most of all, the staff throughout the hotel were warm, professional, and genuinely attentive. The location is also excellent, with very easy access to Barranco thanks to the newer bridge connection—it’s about a 10–15 minute leisurely walk along the coast. We stayed three nights and are already missing our time there."
