PB hotel design editorial

Stacked horizontal fins of white GRC cladding sweep across the facade in a gesture that calls to mind a ship's prow cutting through Manila Bay — a deliberate architectural metaphor for Conrad Manila's position at the reclaimed waterfront edge of the Entertainment City development in Pasay. The building, completed in 2016 and rising across fourteen floors to hold 347 rooms and suites, was designed by Arquitectonica, the Miami-based practice known for bold massing and expressive geometry, with the curvilinear form softening as it descends toward a frangipani-lined pool terrace whose kidney-shaped basin and biomorphic stepping islands echo the organic language of the exterior. Inside, the interiors move in a warmer direction — wide-plank pale timber flooring, full-height walnut headboard panels, and circular wave-patterned rugs that abstract the bay views framed by floor-to-ceiling glazing in every guestroom. The suite configurations use frosted sliding glass partitions to divide sleeping from living without closing either off, keeping the spatial flow generous. Most striking is the all-day dining restaurant set within the curved glass pod that juts toward the water at podium level, where angled structural columns frame Manila Bay in a composition that makes the horizon feel like a deliberate design element rather than an accident of geography. The interplay between the sculptural exterior and the restrained, timber-warmed rooms gives the hotel a coherence that purely expressive buildings rarely manage.

"My experience was exceptional. Soon as I arrived, I felt being well-accomodated. Their services are very commendable. I came from a long trip and arrived with a downpour at almost 9am, they accomodated me of early checkin gratis. One staff that marked to my mind was Jr who happened to be one of the staff at the reception at that time. He spoke with his manager and explained my situation. After couple of minutes waiting, keys were handed to me despite it was very early for checkin. They truly embody the Filipino culture of hospitality. The place will definitely be my top choice to stay again on my next vacation. Long Live, Conrad Manila!"

"Very nice hotel in a great area with lovely sea views. Check in was efficient and the Executive Lounge was lovely too. Really good housekeeping from Macoy, who serviced my room very well. He is a real asset to Conrad. Overall, I highly recommend this hotel."

"I had a wonderful experience at this property, where I stayed for 6 nights in July. I found the staff extremely friendly and attentive and the service was some of the best I have ever experienced in any hotel worldwide. The location was great with access to many types of stores and restaurants in the neighborhood which were located at a smaller mall in the same building as the hotel and the connecting enormous Mall of Asia. I had the opportunity to try many of the food outlets. The Brasserie on 3 had wonderful and extensive selections for their breakfast buffet and the staff recommended local delicacies and even offered to bring them to me! As a Hilton Lifetime Diamond member, I had access to the Executive Lounge which had a very large variety of food and drinks available and also highlighted local delicacies which is unique among hotel lounges. Both the breakfast and afternoon/early evening buffets were very classy and more than enough options to be full meals. The occupancy at the time also allowed me to receive a generous upgrade to a one bedroom suite which overlooked an inner courtyard, but was nicely landscaped. To be candid, the suite was so large that I was afraid that I might unpack something and potentially forget it upon departure. I also tried the Michelin recommended China Blue by Jereme Leung which was excellent. If you intend to go on a weekend, be sure to book in advance. I sampled many different dim sum dishes and found them delicious. Since I was also working out of my room, I had the opportunity to try the In Room Dining which surpassed my expectations. I tried different salads, pasta and sandwich options on different days and they were all excellent. My favorites were the salad of beets, grilled peaches and feta cheese with a raspberry vinaigrette and the spaghetti bolognese which I had two times. The concierge staff was wonderful for helping me book local tours and offer advice about local attractions. I enjoyed this hotel so much that I am returning again in early September for 7 more nights and would highly recommend it."
