"We just got back from Lisbon and we stayed st The Ivens. This hotel came recommended to us and it did not disappoint. We had a suite and loved everything about the room. We usually find large city hotel rooms to be small but not here. We had service twice a day in the room. The service is top notch. The daily breakfast buffet has a good selection of items. I highly recommend staying at this hotel in the Chiada area. Great location."

"Excellent stay for 6 nights with our older kids. We were able to get an adjoining room and each had balconies that overlooked the street. The room had tall ceiling, and was large. We particularly enjoyed the amenities in the room, and the special something that housekeeping left at every turndown; something that represented the area from chocolate to candy, along with a note on what it meant! It was quiet and the bed was extremely comfortable. Extras such as a tote bag for daily trips were helpful, and we ate lunch and dinner on several occasions at the Rocco- a very popular bar and restaurant connected to the hotel. It’s situated right at the Baixa-Chiado corridor and several steps away from amazing shopping and gelato! I highly recommend this hotel and will be back!"

"Stylish hotel, great lobby and bar, but very disappointing management response The Ivens is a very cool hotel visually. We loved the lobby and bar, and the overall vibe of the property is stylish, memorable and fun. Unfortunately, the service and management experience did not match the design. The rooms were very small, and despite being a Marriott Bonvoy Lifetime Platinum / Titanium-level guest, there was no meaningful upgrade or notable elite recognition. The bigger issue was the concierge-arranged transfer. The hotel arranged a Mercedes Viano transfer from Santa Apolónia train station to the hotel for €110. Only after getting in the car did we realize the hotel was roughly 3 km from the station. At the same time, an Uber Black XL was showing at approximately $13 USD for the same route. I fully understand that a private hotel transfer is not the same as Uber and that a hotel-arranged chauffeur service should carry a premium. But this was not a normal premium. It was many multiples more expensive than a readily available premium alternative for a very short ride. When I raised the concern, the response from the concierge and hotel management was disappointing. Rather than acknowledge the issue from a guest’s perspective, the hotel repeatedly defended the charge as appropriate because the rate had been disclosed and because private luxury transportation is a different service tier. They later offered a complimentary return transfer, which I declined on principle. I was not looking for free services or compensation. My concern was that an unsuspecting guest in an unfamiliar city relied on the concierge’s recommendation and was steered into an extremely expensive option without any real context on the distance or market pricing. Net/net: beautiful lobby, great bar and cool hotel aesthetic, but tiny rooms, weak elite recognition and a management response that felt dismissive and defensive rather than hospitality-minded. I would strongly caution guests to check distance and market alternatives before using concierge-arranged transportation here."
