PB hotel design editorial

That facade is the argument. Rising above Singapore's Kampong Glam district, the tower housing Andaz Singapore deploys a continuous honeycomb-patterned curtain wall — diamond-faceted aluminum fins layering across floor-to-ceiling glass — that shifts tone from steel-blue to bronze depending on the angle of equatorial light. Designed by Handel Architects and completed in 2017, the 39-storey tower holds 342 rooms and carries its geometry all the way to the porte-cochère, where a jagged golden canopy extends the facade's angular logic down to street level, making the arrival sequence feel like a deliberate continuation of the building rather than a decorative addition. Inside, the interiors were developed by HBA Singapore with a brief rooted in the district's Arab Quarter heritage and Singapore's broader multicultural identity. Guest rooms take two distinct registers: some are finished in warm oak panelling and dark walnut flooring with saffron-yellow lacquered screens and arched wall sconces on leather backplates, referencing the golden palette of the Malay and Peranakan textile traditions immediately outside; others settle into cooler taupe-on-grey tones with floral-patterned carpets and floor-to-ceiling bay views toward Marina Bay and the Singapore Flyer. The rooftop infinity pool frames that same skyline at dusk, the CBD towers reflected in still water, while the upper-floor restaurant pairs a coffered dark-timber barrel ceiling with clusters of globe pendants and a chevron stone floor — its open kitchen counter finished in richly veined purple marble.

"Andaz Hotel is a remarkable hotel with both excellent location and outstanding concierge services. The hotel is part of the DUO complex which is directly connected to the Bugis MRT and the shopping malls. It is within walking distance to heartland places like the Albert Centre Food Centre and famous Kwan Im Temple. Prior to check-in, I made several requests including booking of a table for my mum's 86 birthday dinner at "5 On 25" upscale Chinese restaurant within the hotel and availability of wheelchair. The staff was able to extend their help and offered alternative solutions when their resources could not meet my requests. I would strongly recommend this hotel for families with elderly folks."

"My stay at Andaz Singapore was exceptional from start to finish. The hotel strikes the perfect balance between modern luxury and comfort. The room was spotless every single day. Everything felt brand new, thoughtfully designed, and incredibly well maintained. The room itself was beautiful and modern with an amazing layout, floor-to-ceiling windows, and a very relaxing atmosphere after long, humid days exploring Singapore. The location of the Andaz is spectacular as well, with Haji Lane just a short walk away and the Bugis MRT station directly beneath the hotel, making it incredibly easy to explore the city. Breakfast every morning was outstanding. The variety, freshness, and overall quality of the food were incredible. My personal favorites were the Eggs Benedict and the kaya toast. Whether you wanted local Singaporean dishes, fresh fruit, pastries, eggs, or international options, everything was prepared at a very high level. The staff were professional, welcoming, and attentive throughout the entire stay and made the experience even better. I especially appreciated that the hotel accommodated a late 3 PM checkout for me since my Singapore Airlines flight out of Changi was not departing until 8:45 PM. That extra flexibility made my final day in Singapore far more comfortable and stress-free. I would absolutely stay here again and highly recommend Andaz Singapore to anyone visiting the city."

"We didn't know anything about this hotel as it was arranged for us, but it really exceeded expectations on all points; comfort, cleanliness, service, food and amenities. There are a few individuals worth mentioning from during our stay.. RaFani who works in the restaurant, the filo lady with blonde hair who works in the bar and refreshments area (didn't catch her name) and the lady who restocks the mini bar all added to our overall experience by going above and beyond to make our stay special and took the time to interact with our kids, which was nice as there weren't many other kids around."

"Andaz is conveniently located within the Bugis Junction vicinity and is connected to the MRT station by an underground walkway. This makes travelling to anywhere in Singapore by public transport so easy and convenient. Foodies will be pleased to know there are many famous and good eateries along the nearby laneways within walking distances too. The room we stay in was spacious and clean. Bed was very comfortable and you can have some snack and free drinks in the lobby. Great place to meet friends there. For the price we paid, it definitely is value for money compare to other similar establishments."
