PB hotel design editorial

That facade is the argument. Rising above Singapore's Kampong Glam district, the tower housing Andaz Singapore deploys a continuous honeycomb-patterned curtain wall — diamond-faceted aluminum fins layering across floor-to-ceiling glass — that shifts tone from steel-blue to bronze depending on the angle of equatorial light. Designed by Handel Architects and completed in 2017, the 39-storey tower holds 342 rooms and carries its geometry all the way to the porte-cochère, where a jagged golden canopy extends the facade's angular logic down to street level, making the arrival sequence feel like a deliberate continuation of the building rather than a decorative addition. Inside, the interiors were developed by HBA Singapore with a brief rooted in the district's Arab Quarter heritage and Singapore's broader multicultural identity. Guest rooms take two distinct registers: some are finished in warm oak panelling and dark walnut flooring with saffron-yellow lacquered screens and arched wall sconces on leather backplates, referencing the golden palette of the Malay and Peranakan textile traditions immediately outside; others settle into cooler taupe-on-grey tones with floral-patterned carpets and floor-to-ceiling bay views toward Marina Bay and the Singapore Flyer. The rooftop infinity pool frames that same skyline at dusk, the CBD towers reflected in still water, while the upper-floor restaurant pairs a coffered dark-timber barrel ceiling with clusters of globe pendants and a chevron stone floor — its open kitchen counter finished in richly veined purple marble.

Andaz Singapore Reviews

"No bellman, no one at the door, dark and dingey - not a 5 star property. Trying to be "trendy" but not executed well like at other Andaz properties (eg Miami). I checked in and it was horrible, Manager wasn't available to discuss options so I left and stayed elsewhere. Still disputing with them for a refund, as theyre trying to charge me for both nights of my 2 night stay - have never experienced such poor customer service from a reported "5 star"."

"Superb hotel. Loved our short stay. Had dinner and breakfast there - nice. Much better than a previous Andaz experience probably because of the great staff. Location was ok, room nice, food great and service excellent."

"If you're looking for a city staycation, this might be the right place for you. We spent a week here and really enjoyed the spacious room, direct access to MRT, and most importantly the fun-filled Sunroom (hotel guest lounge) where my kid got to join multiple activities and enjoyed the fresh fruits at all times. The infinity pool is a decent size and there's a small kiddie pool separated from the main pool. The rooftop bar, Mr. Stork, is also surprising kid friendly. It's got a nice rooftop garden for the kid to run around. I initially picked this hotel mainly for the convenience but all the things my kid got to do in the hotel was definitely a bonus! Lastly, we also found a perfect indoor/outdoor play area outside Kong Madam (korean restaurant) which is right across the hotel. I think we went back at least 3 times during our stay because we got to enjoy delicious tofu stew while our kid enjoyed the play time very much!"

"Excellent location close to MRT and India district. The service at check in and check out was very easy and quick. Being a WOH they were able to check us in earlier. The breakfast choice is very good and we had the best dinner at the Asian restaurant. I would recommend this hotel."
