PB hotel design editorial

Designed by Kevin Roche — the Irish-American architect better known for the Ford Foundation Building in New York and the Oakland Museum of California — the tower rising above Marina Bay carries a facade articulated by a repeating grid of octagonal projections that give its white precast concrete skin an almost textile quality when seen from across the water. Completed in 1995, The Ritz-Carlton, Millenia Singapore was conceived from the outset as a serious piece of architecture rather than a backdrop for hospitality, with Roche's 32-storey form oriented deliberately to maximize views over the bay toward what would eventually become one of the most transformed urban waterfronts in Asia. Inside, the hotel holds one of the largest privately assembled art collections in Southeast Asia — over 4,200 works including pieces by Frank Stella, Andy Warhol, and Dale Chihuly, whose characteristic blown-glass sculpture cascades from the vaulted ceiling of the Chihuly Lounge. The 608 rooms are finished in warm taupes and honey-toned timbers, floor-to-ceiling glazing framing the Esplanade and Marina Bay Sands skyline with an immediacy that makes the view feel like an architectural element in itself. The outdoor pool terrace, anchored by a scalloped timber-vaulted pavilion at its far end, brings the same calibrated sense of ceremony to a horizontal plane that Roche applied to the tower's vertical ambition.

"Our stay at The Ritz-Carlton, Millenia Singapore was nothing short of outstanding. From the moment we arrived until the day we departed, every member of the team made us feel genuinely welcomed and valued. A very special thank you to Claudia Kim at the Front Desk, whose professionalism, kindness and warm hospitality made our arrival so enjoyable. Claudia went above and beyond to ensure everything was perfect, and her attention to detail was truly appreciated. We would also like to sincerely thank Aerial from Guest Relations, who looked after us so wonderfully throughout our stay. Aerial’s genuine care, friendliness and dedication to creating an exceptional guest experience made us feel incredibly special. Both Claudia and Aerial are wonderful ambassadors for the Ritz-Carlton brand. The hotel itself is magnificent. The rooms are absolutely stunning. They are spacious, beautifully appointed, spotlessly clean and offer breathtaking views. Every detail reflects the luxury and elegance you would expect from a world-class hotel. The facilities are equally impressive, including the beautiful swimming pool, excellent gym, luxurious spa and outstanding amenities throughout the property. The location is perfect, with Marina Bay and some of Singapore’s best shopping, dining and attractions just a short walk away. The highlight of our stay, however, was undoubtedly the breakfast buffet. Quite simply, it is the best buffet breakfast we have ever experienced, not only in Singapore but anywhere in the world. The incredible selection, exceptional quality, freshness and impeccable service are second to none. Every morning was something to look forward to. We travel frequently and have stayed in many luxury hotels around the world, and The Ritz-Carlton, Millenia Singapore truly ranks among the very best. It combines impeccable service, beautiful accommodation, world-class dining and genuine hospitality in a way that is difficult to surpass. Thank you to the entire team, especially Claudia Kim and Aerial, for making our stay so memorable. We cannot wait to return and would recommend this exceptional hotel without hesitation."

"I had just landed after SQ 707 circled the stormy skies over Singapore for almost an hour before landing - my only consolation was the fact I had reservations for the penultimate day of Balinese gastronomy at the Colony, presented by the culinary and service teams, the ladies and gentlemen. of the Ritz Carlton Bali at Nusa Dua. Stepping off my Comfort Cab, I was immediately welcomed by a lady of the Guest Relations team who opened the door. I walked straight to the Colony hostess stand where I was welcomed by the affable trio of Windi, Sharmila, and Gopinath. Windy escorted me to my table and I learned that she hails from the amazing Balinese regency of Tabanan and is part of the RC Bali team who came over to assist with the two week long Balinese culinary festival at the Ritz Carlton Millenia's Colony restaurant. Service this evening was phenomenal and I received great assistance from Basil and Cerran who speaks Thai I went straight for the Balinese dishes and was not disappointed - the Baked Red Snapper was perfectly cooked and Chef I Komang Arya Setiawan (Samson) graciously curated a plate for me along with the traditional accompaniments of both Sambal Matah (authentically made with lengis nyuh or coconut oil) and Sambal Mbe, and Side Dishes of Lawar as well as Pleching Kangkung (morning glory greens) with Kechambah Kedelai (soybean sprouts). The chef also served me one of the newly added on dishes - crispy pork stir-fried with the hilariously named sambal setan and it lived up to it's name, as the heat from the chili sneakily crept up one's palate like the proverbial devil - spicy, yet so delicious! Thank you, Chef Komang for piling up my plate with the scrumptious Balinese bites! I also quite enjoyed the other non-Balinese items on the buffet including Singapore Chili Crab Claws (so sweet and succulent, vey fresh crab), Tandoori Salmon, and my favorite Mutton Mysore of which I had to get a second helping! Thank you to all the hardworking ladies and gentlemen of the culinary team, including Chef Jackson and YuLin on duty at the juice and ice tea station I also stopped by the Balinese mocktail stand where mixologist Ricky (I Putu Adie Chrisna) of the RC Bali's Bejana restaurant was in charge of making the yummy Balinese mocktails. Ricky as well as the rest of the Bejana and RC Bali team - including Chef Komang as well as Windi and Gita at the hostess stand - did an amazing job! Brimming with Balinese hospitality, they succeeded in bringing the unique flavors of Bali together with the world class service of the Ritz Carlton Bali to Singapore. Thank you, RC Millenia Singapore for hosting these ladies and gentlemen of RC Bali and here's to more exciting, fun, and delicious collaborations to come! Last, but not least, a shout out to the very friendly and helpful Taiwanese hostess, Gina, at the Ritz Lounge and Bar. I shall be back"

"The Ritz-Carlton itself is part of the Marriott Bonvoy hotel chain, but the Ritz-Carlton Millenia Singapore does not participate in the Marriott Bonvoy program. Therefore, elite status benefits are non-existent, and points are not earned for stays. However, it can still be booked via the Marriott Bonvoy app. Despite not having elite status, the service offered to guests is very excellent, and the hotel was so busy that there was a queue for breakfast. Check-in were provided with drinks and food while we waited. Seeing that we had a baby and a child, they immediately offered us a baby crib. Complete amenities for children were provided, including two dolls and two drawing toys. The children's bath amenities included Ritz-Carlton Millenia-branded ducks. Our room was upgraded to a high floor. The location is quite good, close to Millenia Walk, which has a supermarket and restaurants. There's a bridge and a covered walkway so you don't have to worry about getting wet. Even Suntec City feels close by, as it passes by the mall and many shops. Although at the photo, the room looked old, especially the light ambience, accompanied by furniture that was the same color as the patterned wall panels, but in reality, when I was in the hotel, there was no musty smell at all, full walls and the furniture material and upholstery were very premium and sturdy. The bed was very wide and comfortable. The room is usually equivalent to a Junior suite because it has a sofa, armchair, and work desk. The room view can be the next building and half of the Singapore flyer. Mineral water is provided free of charge and free refills. The tea uses TWG and coffee capsules. No need to ask for extra pillows because the cupboard is already provided directly with 2 extra pillows + 4 pillows on the bed + 1 small pillow. The bathroom offers a luxurious feel from the city view window, which can be enjoyed from the bathtub. The Marina Bay View suite is especially beautiful, allowing you to bathe while enjoying the view of Marina Bay. The amenities use the standard Ritz-Carlton phylosikos. The toilet seat is heated and a manual bidet is also available. Facilities include a swimming pool with a view of the beautiful Ritz-Carlton Millenia, a gym with complete and extensive equipment. There was a Ritz-Kids Kids Club, but it was empty. It turns out that one of the meeting rooms has been moved behind the reception and converted into a kids club, which also serves as a waiting room for guests waiting for their rooms. The kids' amenities set also includes a Ritz-Kids Explorer, where you collect stamps at various locations throughout the Ritz-Carlton Millenia. Once you've collected stamps, you can redeem them for free ice cream. Breakfast was at the Colony restaurant. The place is very spacious and the atmosphere is magnificent because the roof uses a skylight so it provides good natural lighting, the taste is all delicious, the variants are also extraordinary, from Western Asian to local, very complete, the arrangement is also beautiful and also looks good in the photos. The menu: 1. Milk, waffles, pancakes, yoghurt, cereal, cheese, cold cuts, miso soup, salmon teriyaki 2. Chuka jellyfish, scallop, chuka wakame(seaweed), baby octopus (chuka idako), tofu 3. Soba, various cold cut salmon, honey, salad, nuts, dim sum, dumplings 4. The noodle station is a must try because it has bakkutteh sauce with baikut meat 5. Nasi lemak, fish cake, yong tau fu, carrot cake, fried noodles, cheong fun, oden, vegetable 6. Various Indian foods, prata, samosas, jala cakes, putu mayam, tart pies, pastries, donuts, bread 7. Egg station, bean, mushroom, sausage, bacon, hash brown, tomato 8. Various chilled and fresh juices and also a machine for making orange juice from fruit. 9. Watermelon, guava, grapes, orange, melon, apple, pear, pomegranade, pineapple, dragon fruit"

"This is the second time I’ve stayed here and I think when I return to Singapore again I will choose the Ritz Carlton again. First time I stayed was for business, this time family vacation. We pre booked 6 months ago were a family of 5 so an interconnecting room was important. A lot of the other hotels in Singapore wouldn’t guarantee us one however the Ritz reassured us we would have one. Single most important thing for us with us being a family. We knew the rooms will be big, spacious and comfortable with an amazing view. Please be aware there is construction going on the marina bay side so the view can be obstructed. The swimming pool is fantastic size with plenty of sun beds and great poolside service with food and drink being fairly reasonably priced. The staff made you feel special. From welcome gift which included a children’s play bag for my youngest which she was so greatful for after a long flight from UK. Service at breakfast was outstanding a very special time for me and my family. I want to give Rudi a big shout his service and attention to customers was exceptional. I have worked for very high end manufacturers and the service he offered was second to none. Thank you for making our trip even more special!!!’ I’ve stay at various Ritz Carlton hotels and always had exceptional service. We popped into Marina Bay sands and it was impressive but complete chaos when compared to Ritz in Singapore. I wouldn’t always feel comfortable booking the Ritz with my family because there not a family atmosphere however I’m impressed with the service from this stayI would feel comfortable bringing my family to, not the right atmosphere if you know what I mean. But at the Ritz Carlton because I was with family I felt they went the extra mile and made out short break in Singapore even more special, thank you."
