"I booked via booking.com - no problems there. The issue came when I tried to make a booking for the Sunday High Tea. I contacted the Taj via Booking.com messages. The Taj responded by stating they are forwarding my message to the catering team. Nothing happened. I send a second message, this time Nicole Schmidt responded, by saying she would cc me in the mail to the restaurant team - this happened, but the restaurant team never responded. I decided to cancel my whole booking for the reason that if a 5 * establishment cannot execute a simple task like this, I am probably in for an expensive experience with incompetent South African staff. This is bound to disappoint... I booked elsewhere."

"What a beautiful stay we had at the Taj Cape Town. Everything was absolutely perfect. From checkin to checkout, the stay was faultless. We stayed in room 217 which is wonderful. We have a heritage style home back in Australia so it felt like we were home! The huge bed was so comfortable and the pillows divine. The bathroom is so luxurious and spacious. Breakfast was an absolute treat and all the staff in this area were friendly and super efficient. We didn’t have time to use the pool, sauna or gym but the set up is great for fitness enthusiasts. Our heartfelt thanks go out to Christopher who was covering the evening shift in the club area. What an absolute gentleman. Friendly, engaging yet wonderfully professional, with a good sense of humour. All the staff at Taj go above and beyond but Christopher is in a class of his own, and we extend our heartfelt thanks for his kindness and sincerity during our stay. The location of the hotel is excellent. Right opposite Company Gardens and super close to the City sightseeing bus office / pick up drop off point. Also great for the Bo Kaap and city tours which start at this office. It really was so convenient. We can’t think of a single thing we would change about this hotel. We were very sad to leave today and I have no doubt we will be back in the not too distant future."

"Extremely Disappointing Experience – Not the Taj Standard We Expected I am deeply disappointed with my stay at Taj Cape Town. For the last two months, we had been coordinating with the hotel and had received confirmation that our family would be provided two twin rooms with an interconnecting (attached) door. This was a critical requirement as we are a family of four—my wife, our two children, and myself. However, after arriving at the hotel, we were informed that the promised rooms were not available. The explanation given was a computer malfunction, and we were told that rooms 901 and 902 were shown in the system as having a connecting door, even though they do not meet the commitment that was made to us. The most disappointing part was the response from the management. Both Jeremy and Shameez were unwilling to take ownership of the situation or make a genuine effort to resolve it. Instead of finding a solution for a family that had planned this stay months in advance, we were simply asked to accept the situation. We chose Taj because of the values associated with the Tata Group, built over generations by J.R.D. Tata and Ratan Tata—trust, integrity, and customer care. Sadly, this experience reflected none of those values. This was supposed to be a memorable family holiday, but instead it began with unnecessary stress, disappointment, and frustration. A hotel of Taj's reputation should honour its confirmed commitments or, at the very least, proactively provide an acceptable alternative when things go wrong. I sincerely hope Taj Cape Town reviews its reservation processes and trains its management team to handle such situations with greater accountability and empathy. Unfortunately, based on this experience, I cannot recommend this hotel to families who rely on confirmed booking commitments. This is Not what TAJ INDIA.
