PB hotel design editorial

Planted on the northern edge of Yeouido — Seoul's Manhattan-in-miniature, where the Han River curves beneath a skyline of financial towers — Conrad Seoul commands the 37th through 55th floors of the IFC Seoul complex, the mixed-use development completed in 2012 that remade this island district into one of Northeast Asia's most concentrated business addresses. The tower's curtain-wall facade, dark and grid-like against the purple dusk visible in the exterior image, rises above the river with the Han Bridge glittering in the distance — a view that defines the hotel's entire spatial logic, with 434 rooms and suites oriented to exploit sightlines across the water toward the Gangnam hills beyond. The interiors carry the warm precision of a high-rise property that understands its altitude as an asset rather than an abstraction. Guestrooms are finished in brushed walnut millwork, woven textile wall panels in grey and taupe, and low-platform beds beneath abstract canvases that echo the muted purples and ochres of the Han River at dusk — the coved amber lighting at the ceiling perimeter intensifying the effect after dark. The restaurant spaces deploy oak-plank floors alongside plum-velvet counter seating and open-kitchen theatrics, while the indoor pool sits beneath a retractable glass skylight, its mosaic tile floor in deep teal reflecting the city lights beyond floor-to-ceiling windows. The overall register is one of considered metropolitan restraint — a property that lets Seoul do the decorating.

"One of my favorite hotels in Seoul — and the place I always choose whenever I’m in town. The service, the view, and the facilities are simply the best. This stay was especially lovely. I arrived late for check-in and was a little disappointed, but Emily at the front desk was incredibly kind and helpful. She went out of her way to make everything easy and comfortable, and I truly appreciated the generous late check-out as well. Conrad also surprised us with a beautiful suite and a lovely cake for our anniversary, which made the stay even more special. Every time I stay at Conrad, I’m reminded why it’s my favorite. Always wonderful, always welcoming. ❤️"

"Spacious, clean rooms with easy access to IFC Mall and conveniently located across the street from The Hyundai Seoul. The hotel is in Seoul’s Yeouido Business District, so the area feels more like a corporate downtown than a tourist hub. The underground subway station is easily accessible, if you want venture out and explore other parts of Seoul. The fitness center was one of the better hotel gyms I’ve experienced, with good equipment. Overall, a solid option for a short stay."

"We visited Conrad to celebrate my mom’s birthday. I wanted to make some good memories with her, and thanks to the wonderful staff, we had a really great time. Judy welcomed us with her bright smile and made us feel very welcome right away. That was our first impression of Conrad, and it was a great one. Roy was awesome too. He made our check-in very easy and smooth, and I could really feel that he genuinely cared about making sure we had a good time during our stay. I really appreciate his kindness. The room was clean and comfortable, and we’ll definitely come back to Conrad on our next trip to Seoul. Thank you all!"
