PB hotel design editorial

Lotte Hotels' design-forward sub-brand found one of its most urban expressions when L7 Myeongdong planted itself in the dense commercial grid of central Seoul, its white-panelled tower rising roughly twenty floors above a streetscape defined by retail signage and pedestrian flow. The exterior announces its personality early — a bold yellow graphic band running several storeys tall, the phrase lucky to meet you! printed in a typeface cheerful enough to double as wayfinding. That chromatic confidence carries inside, where the brand's lifestyle positioning translates into rooms that layer warm oak flooring, concrete-effect wall finishes, and illustrative murals depicting Seoul's skyline in a palette that mixes pale blue with graphic yellow accents. Swing-arm black metal wall sconces, tufted leather lounge chairs, and chrome-framed desks give the interiors a mid-century café energy rather than the neutral efficiency of most urban business hotels. The upper floors are where the property earns its address most convincingly. The rooftop bar and terrace, clad in dark board-formed concrete panels with floor-to-ceiling glazing on the city-facing elevation, delivers uninterrupted views across Myeongdong toward Namsan and the illuminated N Seoul Tower — a sight the guest rooms below frame equally well through full-width windows. Inside the bar, a long quartz counter runs parallel to backlit bottle shelving, while green leather banquettes and terracotta-upholstered bar stools introduce a warmth that keeps the space from feeling purely industrial. The effect is closer to a confident European rooftop restaurant than anything typically found in Seoul's mid-market hotel tier.

"Excellent location, clean rooms and facilities, and very helpful and accommodating front desk staff."

"I was informed it's appropriate as a business hotel. I think it's not. The ground floor has a staff who I assumed is akin to a concierge. But he was ineffective in assisting me secure a taxi and when he did, I was headed to the wrong destination. Business hotels normally have competent concierge services - this does not There is no laundry service. But a launderette. Is this a business hotel? The lounge on the Reception Floor provides self service coffee and water - but bring your own cup mug or glass. Is this a business hotel? Granted, the bedroom is functional. Basic functional. The bathroom is tiny. Business class hotels have service - there are hardly any staff to provide service For business travel, I do not recommend this hotel"

"We travel a lot and most hotels are generally good, some excellent and a few not so good. Very rarely a hotel generates a very negative emotion. Unfortunately the L7 really annoyed us, for 3 nights. The location is excellent, the staff were super helpful and being on a long trip the excellent laundry facilities were very welcome. The room is small and incredibly badly designed. A prime example of design over function. Others have described the most inpractical layout we have seen. Whoever designed it never stayed a night in it. The bed was on the floor and incredibly uncomfortable accessed by a step which is a severe and frequent trip hazard. Time in the room was unpleasant. Paper cups, no waste plug, cramped design and little space. I would unfortunately recommend finding a similar located more conventional hotel."

"I visited on May 7th and had a very unpleasant experience because of one of the staff members on the first floor. Every time we sat downstairs or walked around, he kept staring at us as if monitoring us. He also looked like he absolutely did not want to be there, and whenever we asked questions, he responded in a very annoyed and dismissive manner. If he dislikes his job that much, perhaps he should consider finding a different one instead of ruining other people’s experience. It was the worst experience I had during my stay in Korea."

"Disappointed with the smelly toilet. The layout of the room with open concept bathroom was not practical at all. Feedback form only in Korean."
