"Staff and food are excellent. On arrival our hearts sank. The dead hanging baskets lining the drive and poor drive/parking directions nearly made us turnaround and leave. Breakfast was good, although Wednesday it was poor. Fire wasn’t lit, we were freezing. Koo-Sarah in the breakfast room was the best team member by far. The pool is obviously broken but nobody admits it. It’s freezing cold, only two people swam in it. It’s not filtering, the infinity part is a green swamp. It’s really horrible by the afternoon with swirls of debris. Definitely not heated. See photos. The Owner clearly has an eye for interiors but that’s not enough. He swans around with Bose headphones on clearly has no intention of interacting with guests. He had more than three opportunities to chat, nope. His Instagram persona is nothing like the reality. Guests were annoyed by this. Although the gardens are tidy there are numerous dead shrubs. See photos. Wobbly tables on terrace which look down onto the pool swamp and a light thing which is broken and an inch of dead moths in it. Yuck. Dining room window has huge cracked glass, apparently been like it for a year.. why? Reception really smells of drains. Housekeeping good, although there should be two covers on the pillows, not one. Housekeeping never replenished tea and coffee without us asking everyday. Broken blinds in room, bathroom taps that are a real faff. Nearly empty toiletries on arrival. Frayed napkins and holes in tablecloths in dining room and mosquitoes which we knew would get us, they did! I could go on, but it’s boring and I’m on holiday still. Left feeling stressed. It needs a total shake up. As pretty as your Instagram account is, you need to sort out your maintenance. A dirty broken pool in May is inexcusable. Never once did anyone ask if everything was okay. Swish mirrors and gold chairs isn’t enough to keep guests happy. I bet they have low returning guest rates. I come from a 5 star Belmond background, believe me, your hotel is 3 star right now."

"What’s advertised and what you actually get are two very different things. Basic issues were handled poorly, promises were made and then reversed, and the way we were treated as paying guests was shocking. When problems arose, responsibility was avoided rather than taken. This place may look beautiful, but the management and service behind it are deeply disappointing. We left feeling stressed, dismissed, and misled. Would never return and would strongly advise others to think twice."

"We stayed here on 6–7 December 2025 and had the worst hotel experience we have ever encountered. My partner requested pescatarian food and we were told only meat dishes were available — no accommodation or alternatives offered. Our room smelled strongly of stagnant water, and when we reported it, the only solution provided was to open the window and they gave us a candle. The bathroom leaked so badly it flooded the room and soaked our belongings. Instead of fixing the issue or moving us to a comparable room, we were sent to a much lower tier apartment hotel but were still charged for the original room. They promised an upgrade and compensation, but later revoked it and asked us to leave the property entirely. This hotel failed at basic hospitality, service recovery, and cleanliness. For the price they charge, this was unacceptable. We strongly advise avoiding this property."
