PB hotel design editorial

A rocky promontory at the northern tip of Ibiza, where Xarraca Bay curves into pine-covered cliffs above the Mediterranean, gave Six Senses Ibiza one of the most geographically extreme sites in European resort design. Opened in 2021, the property was conceived by architect Beatriz Santa-Coloma with a massing strategy that follows the cliff's own terracing — warm sandstone-toned volumes stepping down toward the water in staggered tiers, their rooflines planted with sedum and wild scrub so that from the sea the buildings half-dissolve into the headland. The aerial view confirms how deliberately the 120-key complex defers to its topography, the main hotel block and scattered villa pavilions arranged around the rocky spine rather than imposed across it. Interiors carry the same logic indoors. Walls finished in tadelakt-adjacent plaster, polished concrete floors left bare or covered in jute flatweave, and furniture in pale natural oak — slatted headboards, low-slung armchairs with linen upholstery, woven rattan credenzas — establish a palette of unprocessed warmth that matches the geology outside the floor-to-ceiling glazed panels. Each room opens to a timber-decked terrace or directly onto the rocks, sheer white linen curtains catching the sea breeze where interior and exterior effectively merge. The waterfront restaurant deck, furnished with raw timber trestle tables and wrapped rattan chairs around a single dragon tree, and the clifftop infinity pool edged in local stone, extend that restraint all the way to the waterline.

Six Senses Ibiza Reviews

"We stayed at Six Senses Ibiza for 3 nights in one of the hotel’s most expensive room categories, expecting the world-class hospitality the brand is known for. Unfortunately, our experience was the exact opposite. During our stay, we visited the main restaurant for the first time. Although the restaurant was clearly not full and many tables were empty, we were repeatedly told that no table was available. Only after speaking with a manager was a table suddenly arranged. Luxury is not just about beautiful architecture or expensive rooms—it is about making guests feel welcome and valued. Having to argue for a table in an almost empty restaurant while staying in one of the hotel’s premium suites was extremely disappointing. The property itself is beautiful, but the service falls far below the standards expected from a luxury hotel and the Six Senses brand. Sadly, this was one of the biggest disappointments of our trip, and we hope management takes guest service much more seriously in the future."

"We’ve just returned from a wonderful eight days at Six Senses Ibiza. The location is stunning and the atmosphere is relaxed and peaceful, perfect for unwinding. Every member of staff was warm friendly and attentive; (special thanks to Christina, Flo and Tais) Although our initial room wasn’t what we hoped for, the team responded immediately and moved us to a brilliant alternative, which we really appreciated. The food focuses on healthy, fresh ingredients that we loved. One small improvement I’d welcome would be to expand the non‑alcoholic wines and aperitifs menu. The extensive fitness, wellness and yoga programme, including many free classes, was fantastic and we took full advantage."

"We had such a brilliant stay here. The staff and facilities are absolutely fantastic - with a real eye for detail and making your stay feel extra special. We were apprehensive due to some previous negative reviews, however the hotel has recently gained an absolutely brilliant resort manager called Marzia who is absolutely incredible, and makes you feel extremely welcome, six senses are lucky to have her! Also a special shout out to Kátila who went above and beyond to accommodate our requests, nothing was too much effort and staff like Kátila truly make all the difference from a good to an incredible stay - so thank you! The food is also amazing, delicious and fresh. The prices are on the higher end but nothing unusual for a 5* hotel. Thank you to all the staff who made our stay a memorable one. We will definitely be returning."

"Our stay was really spoiled by all-day construction noise from the two building sites next to the hotel. One site is building Six Senses villas and the other is a new Nomade hotel. Staff told us that the construction is legally supposed to end in May for the holiday season but it was still ongoing in June. Check before you book."
