PB hotel design editorial

A Haussmann-inflected limestone façade on Calle Zurbano, in Madrid's Salamanca district, sets the architectural register for Heritage Madrid Hotel before you cross the threshold — the arched entrance portal, its wrought-iron fanlight scrolling with foliate detail, signals a Restoration-era seriousness that the interiors then proceed to subvert with considerable wit. Inside, the decorative programme moves freely between idioms: the skylit lounge fills with barrel chairs upholstered in a bold tropical-leaf print, their brass-legged tables resting on a harlequin stone floor, the whole room multiplied by floor-to-ceiling mirrored panels framed in white lacquered trellis. Guestrooms pursue different moods entirely — one dressed in indigo chinoiserie wallpaper against warm timber panelling, a geometric nailhead headboard in deep navy velvet anchoring the scheme; another wrapped in bronze-toned lattice wallcovering with a charcoal button-tufted headboard and ikat throw that tilts toward a quieter, more Orientalist note. The restaurant deploys the same chinoiserie vocabulary as the rooms, silver floral panels set into bevelled mirror between caramel banquettes and navy nailhead dining chairs, blue-and-white porcelain on the tables. The chevron stone floor — in black and white — threads through every public space as a unifying motif, grounding an interior that is, at its best, a confident exercise in layered eclecticism rather than period pastiche.

"I stayed at the heritage hotel for 2 weeks in July 2026. It was wonderful. I had an elegantly appointed corner suite with the most comfortable bed. The room was quiet with a very nice view of Calle Diego de Leon. The staff at reception and all of the porters were so wonderful. The concierge/reception helped me organize Madrid tours with amazing guides and also helped me find a beautiful bouquet of flowers to give to a relative that i was visiting. The breakfast was lovely with typical Spanish foods featured and the waiters at the restaurant were all so friendly and remembered my preferred tastes. I strongly recommend the hotel to anyone traveling to Madrid and looking for a hotel in the quiet and upmarket Salamanca neighborhood. Only thing to know is that it is a 40 minute walk to city center. Public transport readily available though. Also affordable taxis to city center readily available as well. A taxi to the city center takes about 8 minutes to get there and will only cost you around 10 euros, so I took taxis most days."

"We stayed at the Heritage Madrid in April, as a family of four (two adults, 10 and 12 year olds), for four nights. It was a truly lovely stay in one of their "family rooms" (two connecting doubles). The rooms are beautiful (classy without being fussy) and spotless, the beds very comfortable, the linens luxurious. We had no noise concerns and consistently slept really well. We thoroughly enjoyed the breakfasts. Most importantly, the staff was incredibly helpful and attentive. Our 10 year old son can be a bit shy and is still working on saying thank you to strangers who have helped him. But as we were waiting for our taxi to the airport he-- completely on his own, unprompted by us-- wrote a sweet little thank you note to the staff to thank them for being so kind and helpful. ("Who are you and what have you done with our son?!"). I will be traveling to Madrid again in the fall with my sister and have just booked another stay at the Heritage. I'm really looking forward to it."

"From the moment we was greeted at the front door we were looked after. The staff here couldn’t be more helpful. We were just visiting for the art fair so 2 night stay in this gorgeous city hotel. The decor was lovely. Room was a little tired with the wallpaper needed an update but we had a complimentary upgrade so not a complaint. The bath in the room was wonderful and bed very comfortable. The atrium in the lounge area was stunning. We didn’t have any breakfast or any food here so couldn’t comment on that. Every need was taken care of."
