PB hotel design editorial

Perched on the cliffs above Peguera's turquoise cove, where the limestone headland drops straight to the sea, a white-rendered tower with arched openings and terracotta-screened balconies signals a different ambition for the Balearic coastline. Aethos Mallorca, which opened in 2025 with 61 rooms and suites, was shaped by Ballesteros Drusetta Studio under interior designer Maru Drusetta, whose reference points run deep into the island's rural building culture. The natural stone base, finished using traditional Mallorcan techniques, reads as an extension of the cliff face itself, while the balcony shutters pay conscious tribute to the great island possessions — the centuries-old rural estates whose louvered facades have defined the island's domestic architecture for generations. Inside, Drusetta's palette is warm and precise: sand-coloured plaster walls, wide-plank oak floors, jute rugs, and upholstered headboards in sage and tobacco tones that absorb rather than deflect the Mallorcan light. Freestanding stone bathtubs sit open to the bedroom in the larger suites, globe pendants in warm brass hang from ceiling fans of dark wood, and the framed abstract works on the walls share the same ochre and rust as the landscape outside. On the terrace restaurant, dark-timber pergola beams strung with raffia pendants frame views across the anchored sailboats of the bay, the whole scene deepening at golden hour into something that feels less like a hotel terrace and more like the shaded loggia of a private estate.

"WOW. Truly the best hotel we’ve ever stayed in. The view is ONCE IN A LIFETIME, the service is outstanding, the food is top notch, and the location is perfect. The entire aesthetic is out of a catalog. They’ve thought of everything. The rooms are EVERYTHING. The beds are so comfortable, the products in the bathroom are amazing (including the Dyson hair dryer), and again the vibe is incredible. We also have to talk about the breakfast — a vast buffet of fruits, meats, cheeses, yogurt, wellness shots, and make your own pan con tomate, as well as the best chocolate croissants we’ve ever had. And if that wasn’t enough, there’s also a whole menu to order made to order hot breakfast from!!!!! And coffee drinks of course! All to enjoy with the BREATHTAKING views of the water. On our last day we had a very early flight and they thoughtfully packed us a bagged breakfast to go. We didn’t visit the spa or the gym but we heard they were also incredible. Some standout staff experiences: Paula and Martina and Stephanie at the front desk who helped us book reservations and call taxis, Davíd and Thomazo who helped us carry paddle boards and snorkeling gear down to the beach (included in your stay!), Nina who provided a personal and thoughtful experience at both the hotel restaurant for dinner and pool bar, Nicole who helped us secure a table with the best view on our last night, and a gal at the pool bar who helped deliver amazing burrata pizza and ceviche and white wine to our chairs every single day!! We will now be looking for Aethos hotels in every city we travel to."

"Pros: Well decorated rooms but a bit small, some marks on the walls that could easily be removed. .. Stunning view on the sea Very good breakfast included Very good night service Cons: Average lunch at the pool and no other options. Few options and not good Poor cleaning in the pool area, lots oh hair in the floor, coffee tables are not cleaned either, they are all dirty. There seems to be no cleaning at all in the pool area. Very expensive parking 25.- Eur per night No private beach or facility. You can go down stairs to access the public beach. Overpriced."

"Wonderful couples trip to Aethos, exceeded expectations in almost every way. Exceptional food and service, beautiful views and the hotel in general a very high standard. We spent an afternoon on Cala Fornells Beach which is a must do - beautiful, secluded cove with crystal waters and natural shade. A little surprised to see a discretionary service charge (10%) on the price of the room at the end of the stay. Of course was very happy to pay service on the food and drinks throughout the stay, but I’ve never seen a charge like that outside of the US. Whilst it is discretionary I would suggest the hotel think again about this feature. Overall though an excellent hotel and experience."
