PB hotel design editorial

Perched on the cliffs above Peguera's turquoise cove, where the limestone headland drops straight to the sea, a white-rendered tower with arched openings and terracotta-screened balconies signals a different ambition for the Balearic coastline. Aethos Mallorca, which opened in 2025 with 61 rooms and suites, was shaped by Ballesteros Drusetta Studio under interior designer Maru Drusetta, whose reference points run deep into the island's rural building culture. The natural stone base, finished using traditional Mallorcan techniques, reads as an extension of the cliff face itself, while the balcony shutters pay conscious tribute to the great island possessions — the centuries-old rural estates whose louvered facades have defined the island's domestic architecture for generations. Inside, Drusetta's palette is warm and precise: sand-coloured plaster walls, wide-plank oak floors, jute rugs, and upholstered headboards in sage and tobacco tones that absorb rather than deflect the Mallorcan light. Freestanding stone bathtubs sit open to the bedroom in the larger suites, globe pendants in warm brass hang from ceiling fans of dark wood, and the framed abstract works on the walls share the same ochre and rust as the landscape outside. On the terrace restaurant, dark-timber pergola beams strung with raffia pendants frame views across the anchored sailboats of the bay, the whole scene deepening at golden hour into something that feels less like a hotel terrace and more like the shaded loggia of a private estate.

"We stayed for just under a week in June 2026, feedback: - Hotel has too many rooms for the size of installations, difficult to get a sunbed by the pool easily, restaurant is too small and is often busy - They are understaffed for a luxury hotel and consequentially the service is slow - Room had teething issues, hot water stops working in the shower after a few minutes, toilet didn’t flush properly, clean fresh towels had a make up stain on it - Only restaurant at the hotel has a limited menu, both lunch and breakfast selection was limited - Not very kid friendly, no activities for kids, no kids menu at restaurant or breakfast - Hotel setting is lovely, but be prepared for 150 steep steps to get down to the town/beach and back, not a major issue but may be for others - Transfers to and from the airport are overpriced at €200 when a local taxi is €50, many luxury hotels offer this as a complementary service"

"Such a beautiful hotel, with breathtaking sea views and a truly relaxing atmosphere. Our room was perfect for our group of three, and the thoughtful welcome amenities and attention to detail throughout our stay made us feel incredibly well looked after. The food was excellent! Both the included breakfast and the dinner menu were delicious, with plenty of great options to choose from. I would recommend hiring a car if you'd like to explore the surrounding area, although the public transport is reliable and perfectly suitable for a relaxed holiday. The only downside is that services stop running at around 10pm. The front-of-house team were exceptionally friendly and helpful, providing fantastic recommendations for local hikes and live music. Their warm hospitality really enhanced our experience. I can't recommend staying here highly enough. We had an amazing time and are already looking forward to returning."

"This is far from a 5 star hotel. Very poor management in my opinion. We arrived at the hotel on the tail end of our honeymoon. Although we did not expect anything, all other hotels on our trip made a small gesture of a free cocktail etc. Aethos did not make any gesture aside from a balloon in our room… The pool was barely operating on one day and the rooftop was booked for events and closed to customers for our entire stay of three nights. We booked the restaurant three days in advance and the reservation was “lost”. We were seated an hour past our reservation and rushed to leave early as the kitchen was closing! The meal was ok but triple the price of the local area. Make sure to check your bill. A lot of incorrect charges at checkout and no one even asked for feedback or how our stay was. Rushed out the door and we were happy to do so. Although a beautiful view, I would not recommend this hotel to anyone that asks. Very disappointing for the price you pay."
