PB hotel design editorial

White rendered volumes stepping down toward the Atlantic in cascading terraces — that architectural gesture defines Royal Hideaway Corales Suites from the moment you approach along Tenerife's Costa Adeje coastline. Opened in 2016 as an adults-only complement to the adjacent Royal Hideaway Corales Beach, the property was conceived as a suite-only retreat, its 150 units arranged across five floors in a curving arc that maximises ocean exposure while keeping the volcanic rock landscape of the Canarian shore visible at the perimeter. The massing carries the clean rationalism of contemporary Spanish resort architecture, all flush balustrades and floor-to-ceiling glazing, without tipping into the anonymous language of mass-market hospitality. Inside, the interiors balance two distinct registers. The upper-category rooms deploy warm oak-veneer headboard panels with organic circular reliefs and open-plan wet rooms that dissolve the boundary between sleeping and bathing, while the standard categories lean on precision-cut vertical timber battens backlit with warm LED strips — a device that adds acoustic softness and a near-sculptural quality to otherwise crisp white volumes. Large-format porcelain tile floors run throughout, pale grey grounding the all-white palette. The pool terraces are finished in ipe decking and green-toned mosaic tiles, overwater sun platforms upholstered in white outdoor fabric providing the kind of uninterrupted Atlantic sightline, with La Gomera visible on the horizon, that makes the property's elevation above the shoreline feel deliberately engineered rather than incidental.

"This trip was perfect from start to finish and I honestly couldn’t fault a single thing! From arrival until departure - the staff were always so friendly and accommodating, extra special shout out to Justyna who made every breakfast trip memorable and made us and every guest feel like VIPs - she has so much energy! The food at breakfast was always so fresh and plentiful and well stocked and they really do cater for everyone and think of everything. The family pool area was lovely for cocktails and watching the world go by, and all pool areas were lovely and clean and chilled. All of the grounds were well maintained across the whole complex and the hotel is very impressive and in a lovely area with lots to offer locally. The room was always well cleaned and our housekeeper was lovely - we were celebrating our friend’s special birthday so stayed in a 2 bed villa with pool area - an extra special treat which was well worth it. We visited the spa too for some chill out time and that was also lovely. Would 100% recommend and would love to visit again!"

"Pleasant hotel and well-maintained, but quite impersonal. The main issue is the inflexible and counter-productive customer policy: I was charged full price for a spa booking (last slot of the afternoon) even though I cancelled early that morning, despite staying a full week and dining several times at the hotel with my family. I only discovered it at check-out. Reception staff were also rather unfriendly and unaccommodating, which made the experience less enjoyable. A pity."

"We are returning guests and this trip was our 5th consecutive one. This time holding two rooms. We stayed at this hotel a couple of weeks ago over Easter along with our family and their 3 small children. They stayed in the suites as that is the family section and we stayed in the adult only part of the hotel. Although we mostly only used our room and facilities to change and sleep in as we spent out time with our son, daughter in law and our grandchildren All parts of this hotel are lovely and the staff friendly and attentive. However here comes the big BUT.... Our family in the main section in room 1209… Never book that room or anything near 1207 1208 either side of those two rooms… As the families apparently own those rooms and they are a nightmare which the hotel even admitted when pushed. They created such a racket day and night with total disregard for any other guests staying in the hotel. Unruly children unsupervised by adults… Even on the rare occasion where there was an adult present no control given at all, in fact it seemed they found the whole experience quite amusing ??? On one particular occasion the football that they played with until 10. 30pm right outside 1209 and even then only stopping when seriously confronted by our family. On one occasion when playing outside on the balcony, the football flew over onto our balcony hitting the glass balcony door waking and terrifying the three children including a six month old baby in room 1209. They then proceeded to climb over and trespass onto our balcony uninvited to reclaim their football!! Blaring music was played in the day and the poor little one could not even get a nap in the afternoon. We complained on numerous occasions to the hotel and they said there were no other rooms to move to, which I find very strange even if they upgraded them.!! It was a complete nightmare and really contributed to spoiling what should have been a lovely holiday. Very disappointed with the hotels response to all of this, as previously mentioned returning guests having been recommended in the first place a number of years ago by our son and daughter-in-law and having recommended many other people to this hotel. Plus on this occasion holding two rooms. This is actually a repost because despite everything the response I got from the hotel was in Spanish… Not very helpful so hopefully this time they will respond in English… And also making sure they got a comment in about what a lovely position the hotel is in. That is not really addressing my issue. We know where the hotel is located so I do hope on this occasion they actually respond properly to this review in the language in which it was written and not use it as an advertising platform. At present we are due to return, just my husband and I, in June but as the adult only section is closed for refurbishment (we were only told of this after booking) it would mean us staying in the family suites and we are seriously considering giving this a miss on this occasion due to all these problems."
